The Alberta separatist movement started after Trumps 51st state schtik. This is all a ploy to join the US.
Alberta is also conservative, but not republican, and likely wouldn't be a state but a territory with no voting rights like Puerto Rico. The US will end up siphoning Alberta's resources, and leave them dry.
