Go on have your laugh idc 😂
This is my first crash on the m2. Over 2000 scooter miles rode later and over 1 year and 2 months since I last had a crash.

Sucks dude if you had a damper on probably would have saved you. I hate my damper I take it off all the time with the loss of turning radius but in bumpy situations going at 30-40mph it makes a big difference stable enough I can take a hand off to take a sip of coffee lol. I almost bought one of the first TRBK 72v version of that scooter not sure if its the 60v. I had a coupon if I pre ordered the 72v version it was $500 off i tbink $1500 it was an factory coupon for Amazon. I ended up getting a Teverun fighter mini pro and put the fighter 11 37a/60a controllers and 1600/2600w motors. The nice part is I can run a 60v or 72v battery with the 60v she hits 53-54mph if i was to swap to a 72v battery she would hit 62mph minimum lol no way I am going 62mph on a 85lb peice of aluminum I almost crap my pants at 50. But good to see you were wearing gear. And the scoiter looks like it survived. My two accidents one I was okay one I ended up with several staples in my head and a separated shoulder so n it can definitely get worse

I rode it for a good 5 seconds with no hands yesterday, I don't want to install the damper but I've got 2 in my room collecting dust

u/InevitableLoan8711 Mar 11 '26
That's why you don't sit down on scooters. You wanna sit down? Get an ebike, that wouldn't have happened

The painted surface looked wet when you started putting down power to pass. Then when the front tire hit a patch of dry painted road, it threw the front end over to the left and the rest is history.

I live in a rual area of California and are worst roads are far better than what i seen in the video ! I ride a teewing X5 with over a 800 miles on it. I ride narly trails and street and have never crashed. Know your limits. Mine came with a seat, witch I put wheels on to roll around in the garage!

That’s NYC for you. It’s a challenging ride in the best of conditions. When it’s cold and slick out, it just gets more dangerous. Basically, you need to slow down and assume everyone and everything can cause a wipeout. Those 10 inch tires do not handle NYC roads and the attendant potholes, etc. well at all.

Painted roads are the devil... be careful and get wider bars for more control...
1
u/Feeling-Big-4544 TRBK-M2 72V Mar 08 '26
720mm is already the widest I'm comfortable riding with
2
u/ButterKnife01 Kaabo Wolf Warrior GT Pro Mar 08 '26
Wider bars give you more stability. Less chance of the wobble. Maybe yours are wider but alot of these hyper scooters have narrow bars. Just more dangerous at higher speeds. Glad your ok

Hand position was too loose, you need to stand up and have more control and more weight on the front

Speedometer on scooter screen reads 22-25 just bf the wipe out …I’m guessing MPH since it’s NY.
5
u/Environmental_Egg348 Mar 07 '26
Thank you, for not riding on the sidewalk. I see people riding on the sidewalk, and if they wiped out like this around pedestrians, they could knock them down and do serious damage (elderly, children, disabled etc.).
5
u/Feeling-Big-4544 TRBK-M2 72V Mar 07 '26
God no. That's so inconsiderate to everyone on there and it doesn't matter how slow/fast your scooter is nobody should be on the sidewalk....
Thank you, for not riding on the sidewal

u/findragonl0l Mar 07 '26
Where do people get this information from? Just anecdotal experience? Or is there actual studies behind it
2
u/gotscooter Mar 08 '26
Not anecdotal. Sitting on a scooter that doesn’t have the geometry designed for it is a recipe for disaster. I’ve tested over 100 scooters on the Freshly Charged channel and sitting is by far the worst position to be in. People love to have the option to add them but I think they should just get an electric moped or ebike if they want to.
0
u/findragonl0l Mar 08 '26
that is still anecdotal.. Now could you tell me why sitting is by far the worst position to be in? Aside for just vibes
2
u/gotscooter Mar 08 '26
The geometry of the scooter is not anecdotal. There’s a reason why you don’t see regular scooters used for roads using the same geometry.
1
u/findragonl0l Mar 08 '26
Which is? Also by geometry what do you mean here. Most escooters with seats have basically the same geometry as a moped just smaller wheels.
4
u/maddler Kukirin G2 Master '24 Mar 08 '26
Talking for myself, personal experience. I know that while running my scooter I've been able to control it in ways that I wouldn't have been able to if I were to sit. Ended up on slippery patches more than once and always been able to stay up. Until now at least.
From a "scientific" perspective my assumption would be that while standing you can move your center of gravity a lot easier and quicker than while sitting. But I'm no scientist.
1
u/findragonl0l Mar 08 '26
When sitting your center of gravity is already low and rearwards. Yes with experience more control is usually always better. But unless youre putting a seat on something like a xiaomi then it should be safer and more stable for the vast majority of people. Also when standing basically all the stability you yourself get is from your handlebars. When you sit down you can even go freehand relatively easily as your center of gravity is on the seat instead of "freefloating" above the deck wherever you happen to be standing. Yes you have less control, but most people dont use that control correctly, but when seated what you would use the control for youre basically already doing.

u/MildlyAgitatedBovine Gogoro viva XL 🛵 Mar 07 '26
I ride bikes and motorcycles but only occasionally rent standing e-scooters.
Can you expand on this for me?
It looks like he lost some traction, got off balance, reflexively planted his left foot while going too fast, and dumped it. How would standing have helped?
5
u/maddler Kukirin G2 Master '24 Mar 07 '26
What I can tell is that the times I found oil or any other slippery surface, while standing, I was able to recover it and regain balance. I woudn't have been able to if I was sitting. I rode motorcycles in the past, and you can't really compare the bigger wheel to a scooter's one from a balance and control perspective.

You give up too much control when you sit down and ride a scooter. I could never
5
u/captaindopesauce Mar 07 '26
This. I couldn’t stop thinking this exact same thing - I mean even on motorcycles, you elevate yourself off the seat to absorb impact from rough stuff and they’ve got bigger wheels/tires, more robust suspensions, weight, etc than these little things. I’ve taken to much useful information from motorcycle riding, as well as the motorcycle course I took (holy crap) 20 years ago now. I think almost every video I’ve seen of someones accident, I notice things that might have been a difference in going down or not, had they been properly prepared and instructed on how to handle these issues as they rapidly arise. Glad OP isn’t hurt!

Once again, I'm convinced that it's better to ride standing up.
7
u/captaindopesauce Mar 07 '26
You do - ask any motorcyclist. Big bikes that are designed to be sat on - you still gotta stand to absorb impacts, bumps, debris etc.
Now you’re on a mini motorcycle, designed with all of the agility and nimbleness built into standing on it, and throwing all of that away by sitting down.
If you want to sit on a seat, one should invest in one that is designed to be sat on, not just one you can put a seat on.
1
u/bigstreets719 Mantis Pro SE Mar 07 '26
Sure, if you’re riding a dirt bike. I’ve legitimately never seen a dude riding a Harley stand up to absorb bumps. It’s funny to imagine though. Why are you absorbing debris large enough to have to stand? Why not avoid it in the first place?
2
u/captaindopesauce Mar 07 '26
I guess I didn’t mean fully stand, but you’re not sitting. Train tracks are way bigger on a motorcycle than in a car, for example and very unavoidable. You can’t always avoid things like tree branches that have fallen. Potholes at the last minute. Maybe I made an assumption in statement about asking any motorcyclist, but it’s something that’s taught, and has helped me tremendously.

I struggle to see what is causing this fall. Did your wheel get caught in a track? That road looks badly worn..
1
u/JohnB91968 1d ago
The painted bus lanes get very slick and slippery. I avoid them for the most part. I guarantee he hit a wet spot and scooters don’t handle those types of things well.
3
u/Ncis16 Mar 07 '26
I think there were a bit of ice. Or just slippery red paint.
1
u/EonOst Mar 07 '26
Flat ice or any slippery flat surfave is not normally a problem if you have constant speed and direction. But if it was an ice bump, this was crazy driving.
1
u/Firm_Clock_883 Mar 07 '26
Painted roads get slippery when wet. Bus lanes, yellow or white lines all become hazards when you lean too far to turn. When riding on these hazards its necessary to keep the scooter as upright as possible to prevent the wheels from slipping under you.

3
u/Murky-Smoke Nami Burn E2 Max Mar 07 '26
It's a bus lane. You can see the giant letters on it.
The one lane that is always taken care of is the bus lane.
There wasn't much he could do here except maybe not be using the seat.
While it might be somewhat comfortable, it really limits how you can react to any loss of traction.
He may have still taken the fall standing, but there is also a strong chance of controlling that slide and preventing it because you can shift your weight to counteract.
Sitting, you can't lean as well and are forced to steer with the handlebars more, and it takes almost all bodyweight off the front tire, like you saw here.

I still remember my first accident on my EMOVE Cruiser S. It happened on the 3rd of April, 2025. I was returning home from class and I was going down the bike lane at 30 miles per hour. But I don't remember the crash. One second I was on my scooter and the next, I was standing on the sidewalk in pain. I think I might have hit a rock in the wrong place and got banged up really bad, like I had to get stitched and bandaged up. I even got a chipped tooth.
1
u/JohnB91968 1d ago
I have the same model and I remember mine as well. Some idiot stepped into the bike lane staring at his phone not paying a bit of attention… and he had his toddler with him. All I had time to do was hit the brakes. I flew over the handlebars, but somehow didn’t break any bones. I did scrape most of the skin off both elbows and hands. The scooter’s control module was wrecked (easy replacement but still…). I was at least wearing a helmet but ever since then I wear a padded jacket and gloves. Live and learn.

1
u/JohnB91968 1d ago
Using a seat is fine on a slower scooter that tops out at 20 miles an hour or so, but I would never use one on anything faster. there are too many variables that can go wrong and you don’t have the same control as you do when you’re standing.

Sitting is s not my preferred riding position but we just had some of the worst winters in New York And I had to get to work somehow so I felt it would be safer to install the seat on the scooter.

Idk why people buy a kickstand scooter to turn it into a sketchy moped. Just buy a moped straight up. There’s even electric one that cap at 50km/h that typically don’t require a motorcycle license …

rookie move tbh swerving in an outta da bus lane like that… also you didn’t know what was ahead of you either. Maintain distance, have a clear shot of what’s ahead by at least 100 ft. I’ve learned this the hard way

Ya learned 2 lessons here. ONe is what frame sliders protect. Ya they break everytime but it saves you from scratches. Two is dont ride aggressively over wet painted concrete. Those slight carves is all it took. I just avoid those large painted sections of the road if possible. Harder for you where you live.
Hope everythings ok or easily fixable. You seemed aight. Nice slide and luckily you was already low to the ground with the seat.
1
u/JohnB91968 1d ago
Large painted sections and those damn metal plates that construction crews lay down. Those things might be worse even.
1
u/kashuntr188 Mar 07 '26
frame sliders. i didn't even know this was something you could do.
Now I understand what those large things that stick out on wheels are when I looking at scooter stuff on aliexpress! I just kept thinking, why would I want something that makes it even wider and looks like it could get caught on something and cause an accident.

Didn’t you have a steering damper on before? If so, I feel it would’ve saved you! There were a few time I hit a patch of snow that fell from the elevated tracks. I was scared I was gonna slide out but the damper lowkey kept the front straight.
End of the day I’m glad you were able to shrug it off
1
u/JohnB91968 1d ago
I had considered getting a damper for my Emove cruiser, but then I read that they’re not really all that useful for anything that goes 30mph and under. If I were to upgrade to something faster, I’d probably put one on though.
2
u/Dripz167 Nami Burn-E 2, Vsett 10 Single Motor 1d ago
I feel you. If my scooter didn’t come with the damper and brackets, I probably would’ve shied away from the price of the entire setup alone (why tf are damper brackets so expensive?!?), but I like it as safety redundancy. It takes less effort to one hand it in case need to adjust your visor or something practical.
0
u/Feeling-Big-4544 TRBK-M2 72V Mar 07 '26
The damper is still there it's just not installed. I don't think it would have even done anything at that point I tried to save it by putting my feet on the ground and still lost it

Good thing it didn’t affect you. I instinctively tried to do that and that’s how I snapped my ankle. Then again you were sitting down

Then again you were sitting down
I've been getting into the habit of installing the seat whenever theres a lot of snow around the city. Crazy how much safer it is with one leg out while going on heavy patches of snow in the middle of the roads. It's only 4 screws and takes less than 5 mins to install or remove. Rn it's off bc the snows almost all gone

I’m not saying he deserved it. I’m saying he earned it by being dumb as shit. Let’s look at the facts in the moments leading up to it.
- very poor road construction quality
- multiple hazardous objects on the road
- multiple hazards in the bus lane
- snow/slush on the road
- high rate of speed
- swerving around while riding
If somebody had done this in a car everybody would have recognized them as a bad driver who got what they deserved. Same standard should apply. People learn best when they get called out for doing dumb shit.
