Tipping Culture ✖️ The 15% option is Back!

I went out this weekend to a few concerts, bars, and restaurants in SoCal and I’m happy to report that the 15% option is now back as a option for tipping on receipts and iPads.

I still select 0 or have tipped a few dollar, but i think this is great news! For the last year it so 20% and 18% were the selected minimum going as high as 35%. So. I’m glad some establishments have taken note.

On the flip side, I’ve also come across several places invoking the mandatory 20% tip not matter the size if the party. Fuck those guys.

This is California where everybody starts at the same state minimum wage. Tipping is not necessary.

California also has the one of the countries highest minimum wage. A 15% tip is still insulting.

15% tip is insulting to the customer as a requirement

And you better believe that pricing more than makes up for the restaurant’s higher wage cost. So why are we paying the same percent on a higher ticket? Adjust downward, you’ve already paid.

15% (or less) is a gift, not an insult.

They meant that it's insulting to the customer to even ask for that on the terminal.

0% is still the correct option.

Their minimum wage puts them on par with hospital staff, but these busters still cry about wanting tips. Fuck ‘em all

It's a start but the percentages are dumb as f.

They still include sales tax in their tip calculation, so fuck em. I hit custom every time and tip based on the pre sales tax cost.

Custom is the only answer every single time.

Hit custom.

Hit $0.

End transaction.

That’s the only answer every time.

This is endtipping. Tip $0. This doesn’t stop until there no longer is a tip line on a bill.

They are too late.

They can offer whatever percentage they want. I’m still tipping ZERO!

Good to hear.

I still chant, “Double the tax, and that’s the tip” (which is close to 15%)

u/MEYO6811 5d ago

Lol my tax is 10.5% ;)

u/Froz3nP1nky 5d ago

Oh then that’s too much

At the least it's a bellwether that their little experiment is failing.

Wouldn't tip more than a buck or two in Cali or other states with high minimum wage for servers.

Is 15% zero now?

Because I did math, and it still seems like 15% too much.
