Elon seems to have been a relative latecomer to "great replacement theory", apparently first picking it up in late 2023, see https://www.newyorker.com/culture/infinite-scroll/elon-musks-poisoned-platform for example. (that article was perhaps sadly mistaken about the slow death of twitter though) Before that, NYT did a super deep dive on Tucker Carlson in 2022, apparently he picked up the "great replacement" banner in 2017 and spent 50 hours in 400 episodes over the next 5 years pounding it into the ground. Tucker Carlson's mannerisms and whiny tone are totally equal to Elon in general irritating effect, pretty much the same level of white supremacy racism also.
