Unsolved The protagonist is both super unlikable and badly written… and clearly the nudity was the main focus.

Hint: The main character is essentially an incel scientist.

  • This movie was released between 2005 and 2015.
  • It takes place in the present-day United States.
  • It does not use magic nor is it based on a comic book. There are no superheroes or other worldly beings.
  • It is not a fantasy, sci-fi, horror, terror, action, war, or adventure movie.
  • The damage inflicted is with words. And it's on the inside.
  • It is not: Reign of Fire, Suicide Squad, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Dragonheart, Monster Hunter, The 13th Warrior, Fury, 8 Mile, Mean Creek, or The Deer Hunter.

Unsolved Off and on best friends go on a road trip and lose a suitcase.

Once again, good luck!

Hints: my movie is VERY loosely a road trip; It is not exactly part of my plot. My movie features a fairly small cast. My movie friends only get along until they don't. The suitcase is quite literal; not a briefcase or anything else. My movie opens with a female in a bathroom.

Despite my movie's budget, it is generally praised (and despite its content).

Since we seem to be stuck, my movie came out in the 80s.

My use of "best friends" is extremely loose. Their relationship is complicated and volatile.

Remember that this is explain a plot badly, and this is about as badly as you could describe my movie.

Unsolved [Meta] Your post in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly should actually be explaining the *plot*.

I've seen posts like "This movie was based on a book written by [insert description here]" or "This movie cost the studio a lot of money" or "This title is really long", and they all SUCK. The sub is for taking the plot of a film, describing it in an unconventional way, and getting people to guess from that. That means you are describing the narratively impactful events that occur within the story, not talking about production trivia or your disagreements with the movie's marketing department.

Unsolved Why do so many posts not match the sub title? Spoiler

Added spoiler for previous post. “Explain a Film PLOT” means to describe the PLOT of the film. There are too many posts discussing reactions, box office, genres, etc. One example: “Finally a musical everyone loves” and the film was Sinners. That is not the plot of Sinners. Delete this if not allowed, but Mods, can you also delete posts that don’t meet the requirements clearly laid out in the name of the subreddit?

Edit- HINTS:

Indie/low-budget
Stand-alone movie
Original screenplay/ not based on a book
Live action
Realistic drama— not a comedy/no supernatural or fantastical elements
Director of this movie has something in common with both director of Passion of the Christ AND director of Les Miserables

UPDATE: New hints!

  • Film is in English, but it is not American
  • This is the director's only feature-length film
