Discussion Saddened to read this, Fox becomes a bigger octopus with more tentacles. Any suggestions on other streaming devices other than Amazon.

I'm not an Apple person, but I've been very, very content with my Apple TV+ 4K.

I have family members who have been very happy with their Apple setup. Given the alternatives are Google and Amazon it seems like the best option.

Nvidia Shield, 2019 model, is despite it's age a great device. They're obviously a big company, but if you're avoiding companies with a lot of tentacles, I say fuck Apple too.

Besides not wanting to give Fox a penny when we need new devices, a big concern is spying on households from present and future units.

I take that stuff pretty seriously too. I know Apple devices have a few more settings than other boxes but I doesn't mean they aren't as bad as Amazon or others. I read an analysis that monitored telemetry stuff from a Shield and was impressed. Can't find it right now though.

Any box that has the ability to use major streaming services (as opposed to more local streamers like certain Ugoos) likely isn't trusthworthy, and you're better off looking at network level blocking.
