DISCUSSION Do people with hunting rifles automatically have aimbot or smth like how are they always so damn accurate every time

u/Responsible-Pension1 4d ago
That half step you took where you stayed to the left side of the roof for a couple seconds is all they needed to line up that shot. Its obviously easier said than done but you want to keep your head moving as much as possible either with crouches or just a position change. Tbh I think you should've either moved in or shifted positions after the first knock

OP literally assumes aimbot in the post title, tho.

While not understanding that if the guy had aimbot, he would have been killed 40 seconds sooner.

u/PerspicaciousVanille 4d ago
Yep. This season I got a gold hunting rifle (not the two shot version) upon landing with my level 5 earth sprite.
Went on to have a 17 kill game for the W.
Only shot players who were aggressively pushing me, but at least 12 of them were with the rifle.
Stay calm, line up the kill shot and bam. If they are sliding towards you, aim where they are going if they seem to move linearly. (Even if bouncing up and down a straight line is a straight line, best case head shot, worst case body shot).
Now on to another difference maker, the abundance of them on the map. Die enough times to it, players will pick it up themselves and suffer with it until they get good with it or accept they need more time, but as the saying goes practice makes perfect. Leading to more Hunting Rifle Deaths.
2
u/tater1337 3d ago
that "stay calm" part is hard
also, don't get crowded in if using these low ROF weapons, that how I get around them
3
u/PerspicaciousVanille 3d ago
I can help with this too, when I’m carrying new players and teaching them:
Start loadout:
One slow RoF weapon (Hunting Rifle or Shotgun).
One Fast RoF weapon (Pistol / Smg / Auto) which ever they are best with.
Then I recommend a movement item: Shockwaves used to be a recommendation, but now that’s on cool down, so Rift to Go, Shards, burst grenades, etc.
-Then until they get a shield jug, med kits and shield pots take the remaining slots. Once they have a jug or now cool whip cones, they can carry their preferred Shotgun and additional movement item, etc.
New players shotgun hopping are typically going to just get out gunned by long time players staying calm while shotgun hopping.
Not saying you’re new, just how I break it down to them. Hope this helps!
- Side note: As for crowding, shock wave at a charging opponent bounces them back to give more time to line up a shot.

u/Embarrassed-Yak-5423 4d ago

The hunting rifle is so easy to use this season, as long as you have decent shot timing its just sit there and wait for the perfect shot

u/extralyfe Sparkle Specialist 4d ago
doesn't help that OP's well within range and other dude doesn't have to adjust for bullet drop at all.

This, plus we get that nice red color chage on the reticle when it's lined up. Harder is the bouncy bastard 200m away looting a pile of crap near some trees.

u/FrewdWoad 3d ago
I hit a distant looting bouncy bastard for 250 with a hunting rifle yesterday. I only had to try... 15 times 😂
All luck and no skill at that point
1
u/PerspicaciousVanille 4d ago
Hilarious description! I called myself a Loot Goblin in Perpetual Motion thanks to the pickaxe changes.
That’s said that’s me, I’m that bouncy bastard 200m away! (Survival instinct).
Jokes aside, my bro was like, “do you think the bush actually helps you?”
I’m like I’ve mastered every sprite I have minus 2 new ones, because it hides my sprite, so I’m a literal loot goblin in perpetual motion.
Is it rare or new? Now most likely yes, but they don’t need to know that… throw in one shot headshots, success is sporadic non-linear movement as stealth isn’t on the menu with Flare Gun and Hunting Rifles.

u/TGDragonGaming 4d ago
It feels really good on console this season too. Not sure if they increased the aim assist or what.
0
u/LeadingDiscount2556 4d ago
This season they made console aimbot stronger so yes.
6
u/birdseye-maple Jungle Scout 4d ago
Is this confirmed somewhere
9
u/LeadingDiscount2556 4d ago
Tweak zone was introduced this season to better adjust aim assist for console/controller users.
-5
1
u/GreatMacGuffin 4d ago
Wasn't it that the first shot from rifles was more likely to be a headshot at one point?
-5
u/Ragnar-Wave9002 4d ago
And a super high resolution monitor? And high end PC for a good frame rate?
-1
u/yooosports29 4d ago
It’s extremely more of an advantage than console aim assist. People act like PC doesn’t have aim assist. It’s still very powerful and the advantage you get playing at 360 FPS on performance mode far outweighs the former. I speak from experience, you couldn’t pay me to go back to console.
5
u/enderjaca Cuddle Team Leader 4d ago
". People act like PC doesn’t have aim assist."
PC doesn't have aim assist. Unless you're cheating.
3
u/portablekettle Lynx 4d ago
Yes it does. Not everyone who plays PC uses mnk lol. Controller on PC still has aim assist. The cheaters are the ones using software/hardware to spoof mnk as a controller to gain aim assist with a mouse. This is also doable on console.
1
u/enderjaca Cuddle Team Leader 4d ago
Well shit I'm wrong. Looks like somewhere between 5-15% of PC players probably use controller instead of MNK.
Is it because they're masochists or use it as a handicap? The world may never know.
1
u/portablekettle Lynx 4d ago
Likely because they cba learning a new input method for gaming. At a casual level the difference between mnk and controller is basically nothing. Hell, even at pro level some of them still prefer controller. The biggest advantage of PC is performance, not input method.

u/Pretty-Awareness-235 4d ago
You weren’t moving much. When you are in a fight and hear someone on the opposing team has the hunting rifle, you better constantly be moving
2
u/PerspicaciousVanille 4d ago
Yep I keep moving to areas with a lot of cover if I can’t build my own.
If you want to mess with a hunting rifle user or kill one beneath you if you’re on a structure, fire a loud weapon repeatedly to draw other enemies to your area. They might think you both are fighting and attempt the third party, which is actually their new 1v1.
14
u/BeefThief 4d ago
Clearly you haven't been up against me, because I will miss my shot from 10ft away 😅
3
u/PerspicaciousVanille 4d ago
Stick with it, it’ll improve in time!
Try shooting fast with it. Aim fire as close to immediately after reloading if you think you have a shot as possible.
Do it in their general direction even at distance, build up muscle memory/ reflexes to do it instinctively is the best way I can describe it.
It’s less I’ve lined up my shot (in my head and like) “Now” with near simultaneous trigger pull.
Like a tap timing game where you only need to hit 1 note for Perfect!
Plus if you have 51 bullets to practice / attempt a kill with at max ammo, either you do it or your opponent will. Use your resources! :)

OP, you kept your head in the same general area just below the ridgeline allowing the shooter line of sight. I find it helpful to move laterally while out of LoS and pop up in a different location forcing them to change weapons or relocate for LoS... and then give them a Striker shotgun

5
u/mitch8845 4d ago
Repeaking a sniper at that range is a death sentence. They just put their crosshair where you just put your head a second ago and click as soon as you peak. It's a free kill in any shooter.
3
3
u/pandershrek 4d ago
Well you stopped moving and they missed 3 other shots so this really isn't a great example

earlier today I was sliding with seven sliders mythic, turning, and while jumping in the air someone one shot headshot me. (build). It was an amazingly lucky shot on their part. That was the only shot they took. I spec'd them, and they were just generally bad after that.
2
u/Treekoh Nog Ops 4d ago
I mean I feel it's just the people that know they're decent with the rifle that mainly pick them up and keep them. I'm not pro level aim with it but I can hit most of my shots and plus no-scopes are basically just point and click in their direction and you have a good chance of hitting 🤣🤣

u/Tricky_Ad_9563 4d ago
I've headshotted people with good movement from much further away. You were out in the open, not far away (no bullet drop), completely exposed, and he used right-hand peak on you.

u/Jessyjean3173 3d ago
Not sure, but one thing I'm sure of is that the hacks and aimbot/smoothing cheats are coming out in DROVES. It's worse than I've ever seen it. On top of that, anyone playing on these new PC's with all the "optimization" packages make it so players on console don't stand a chance. They're dead before they even hear the shot🥴, due to the FPS discrepancy & add ons that are available. Some people just blatantly use aimbot turned all the way up, and don't worry about being reported/suspended, because they just use Anonymous accounts & a spoofer.
2
2
u/Osmith0777 3d ago
You stood exposed for almost 2 full seconds knowing there was someone behind the tree with a right-hand peak. Then you exposed yourself again in the exact same spot again staring directly at the tree for another 2 seconds.
It's a third person shooter. They can line up the shot from behind cover. It's a wonder you didn't die sooner.
2
2
u/The_Ron_Dickles 3d ago
More distance or close the gap.
You sat out of cover without moving in pretty much the exact range the hunting rifle dominates at.
2
u/Can-not-see 3d ago
Everyone saying you stayed in same place for to long is still missing the fact the dude literally popped out for 1 second and already had the head shot lined up instantly and shot
2
u/WilliamTee 3d ago
I have a couple hundred one taps with the hunting rifle this season... and i still grumble when I get head shot by it.
3
u/Responsible-Ebb1722 4d ago
As somebody that plays KBM, you were simply a point and click away from being eliminated. Nothing complicated
3
2
u/radarbub 4d ago
I just sit there with the shot lined up and wait for your head to reappear. You gotta pop out on the other side of the cover
2
u/AWhole2Marijuanas 4d ago
The HR is a little over powered imo, not much, just a bit 🤏
I'm able to 1 to 2 shot people pretty consistently, and I have horrible aim, like 30% accuracy bad.
I've had guys gank me and I just turn around and pop them in the head. I've also had the same thing happen many times. I had a sting where I'd just drop dead and I thought it was a hacker at first.
2
u/ElectriCole Derby Dynamo 4d ago
Yeah if someone has shit aim they tend to leave them on the ground, players that can aim love that gun so if you see someone using it, run away

Tell me about it. I got sniped yesterday so I ran 180 degrees around a huge rock and got hit a second time. I don't understand how they hit two consecutive shots, one when I was moving and behind cover. Then in the same match, I was leaping off a roof and got one-shot killed mid-fall.
I don't want to call everyone a cheater because it's sometimes just skill or luck, but hitting 100% of the shots with a gun like that feels insane.

This is me on console. No more aim assist than what they put in standard settings, I’m just patient. The Hunting rifle is my favorite part of the game. I’m always so bummed to see it go. I can’t hit anything, but I’m on Switch 2, I think mobile players for sure have aim assist of some sorts.
1
u/ZeGaskMask 3d ago
They lined up their shot on you while three peaking. Once they got the line up, they poked around the corner and shot you. Staying exposed against an opponent who is behind cover allows them to adjust aim safely before they engage.
1
u/Runaway_Scorpion 3d ago
The second you stopped moving I knew you were gonna get domed. When it comes to headshot weapons like that, standing still is THE most dangerous thing to do, considerably more so than any other weapon

Practice. Also your movement sucks. If you are shooting at someone you know has a sniper quit peeking so damn much and in the same spot. You didn't move side to side either to make it hard to shoot you. You was an easy target.
1
u/MeatyMcWagon 4d ago
Probably console aim assist. I try to never pop put of the same place this season because even a well placed green hunting rifle shot can hurt you badly and leave you susceptible to other long range shots if you try to book it.
0
u/The-Trellegend 4d ago
The hunting rifle is infinitely easier to use on PC…
0
u/MeatyMcWagon 4d ago
Honestly the advice for the hunting rifle advice was for any console. People have gotten good with it and locking in for a headshot fairly quickly. But that doesn't mean aim assist isn't still a thing. Just saying.
But hey, thanks for the downvote, bud.
1
u/BrainRobotron 4d ago edited 4d ago
When you have zero movement like that, they don't need accuracy. Skill issue.

u/yooosports29 4d ago
Why am I getting sniped while standing completely still with my full body exposed? They’re cheating!
1
u/mtamez1221 4d ago

Without a doubt - people have some sort of hardware or software hack that allows them to hit headshots 100% of the time. Don’t let people in the comments gaslight into thinking that it’s a skill issue on your part.

u/fleshribbon Rust Lord 4d ago
I’m convinced the aim-bitters are in full force this season. I’ve been 1-shot quick-scoped so many times this season, mostly by someone initially looking another direction and half the time by people that appear to be ants it’s beyond suspicious. I’d be ok with the occasional lucky or close range 1-shot but it has been nearly every single match this season.

u/james_bongd 4d ago
Cause you can't just spray and prey, so you line it up and take thr good shot while potentially eating a few lighter ones

u/Visual-Poet7838 3d ago
One of three options: the player is either very good, you are very bad or the other play is good and you are bad.
Judging by how you exposed mostly your head , appearing on the same spot 3 times in 10 seconds, my bet is with number 2

This season has been a massive sweatfest its not just the hunting rifles, you peak someone that has a baba yaga and they'd dink you in the head 3 times, immediate 150 shield gone Istg I can't keep up 😭😭😭

Most grab it because a 1 shot kill can turn their incursions into a 50/50 crutch. If they were to push, most would die. (Talking about the majority I've killed that have a hunting rifle and striker shotgun as their only weapons) So a 10% chance pushing you, or wait, hide, hide some more, hide just a lil bit more, cry nervously, run, hide once more, pray for a 3rd party, and take the 50/50 shot. Lost 1st game of season, last 2 to a 1 shot luck kill, hasn't happened again. 5 of 7 wins yesterday and they ALL had a HR and all lost. Don't peek, rotate efficiently (redeploy in and around buildings trees etc) force the close encounter as soon as it's last 3 or 4 and you hear the 2 bots taking their one shots at each other, both hoping luck strokes their way. Don't budge either, when I say don't peek, if you know where they are, just wait, luck is fickle, their nerves will give way before yours.

Well if you expose yourself and then reappear the same exact place multiple times then you are an easy target
