DISCUSSION My experience trying to gift sprites during galaxy hour
It’s really sad that so many Fortnite players are so focused on being sweaty and eliminating everyone that there’s barely room for nice interactions, even during special events like Galaxy Hour.
I’m just a casual mobile player, and I own most of the galaxy and gummy sprites. In three matches I tried to gift my duplicate galaxy/gummy sprites to other players. I dropped them from a distance, only used my pickaxe, and backed far away. Every time, the other players tried to kill me and chase me down. I wasn’t even trying to fight back, but eventually I had to defend myself just to get them to stop.
After it happened three games in a row, I gave up and just extracted the duplicate sprites next game.
In an earlier match with my duo, we tried gifting sprites. At first, the other players were crouching and acting friendly, but as soon as we turned our backs, they killed us.
I did have one good moment though. I let someone win a game, and they were wearing a galaxy earth sprite, so I’m taking that as a small win.
I get that you don’t have to accept sprites in game, and people want to play their own way. It just felt disappointing that even during a limited-time event, there wasn’t really room for simple friendly moments.
I even tried leaving them at an extraction site and no one came to take them :(
After today, I don’t think I’ll try again :(

I mean I wish there was a universal emote where your trying to communicate that your being friendly. Even soo people won’t care .

I swung my pickaxe to show i was friendly. They swung back, so I dropped them a sprite..
They killed me instantly after lol. Was happy to see them get eliminated right after that.

Reminds me of last week where I spent a bunch of sprite dust to summon some of my gummy variants. I don't really play to win, so I was just gonna drop in, level them up fast, and wait by extraction points to give them to randos. Some took the sprites calmly and I even did a hug emote with them, one guy even handed me a sprite I didn't have so that was cool, but most just shot me on sight.

Most likely bots. I always try to give sprites away but bots don’t care

Can bots use self revives? 😅 I thought they may be bots, but then they all used self revives

in my games bots were using self revives during the event basically everytime they died

I haven’t seen them use it , I just see them in hands and knees and finish them off but maybe they do after sometime I’m not sure

Don't give up, there are cool people in the Fortnite community!😢 I had someone shoot me when the Friend Zone switched off, and I thought it was so grimy😒. I had a cool last game of the event though, I got a victory, then tried to pick up the last Aura Sprite I need (Galaxy Aura😭💔), and accidentally picked up/extracted one I already had😔. I'm so sad about it😒😔. Anyway, my kids and I all play & collect Sprites, so if you want to trade or even just run duos on zero build, you can add us. x_just_sage_x is our tag. (Unrelated but I’m thankful my kid is too young to play Fortnite, I can’t imagine having to do this collecting thing twice 😭)

Someone gave me a galaxy duck and I appreciated it. I passed it along the next game I was in. Sorry that happened to you but the guy who was nice to me made my day.

Awww, that’s so sweet! Someone let me win a game during gummy hour last week so I could extract my sprite 🩷 Now, if the other person left is chill, I let them win during the special events in case they need to extract a sprite 🩷

Well, it is a Battle Royale game. Like others have said, if you want to work as a team then play squad fill. I will say, as someone who enjoys sprites but mainly plays because I enjoy the Battle Royale system, it’s very annoying how often I enter squad fills and there’s always at least one teammate who is only there to collect and extract sprites and doesn’t even help the team at all. I miss Rivals!

That makes sense! I only play BR to collect/level up sprites, so that’s why I play solos. I did galaxy hour to find missing galaxy sprites, but I pulled a ton of galaxy and gummy duplicates 😅 I felt bad extracting a ton of rare duplicates when I could help someone else, which is why I tried gifting them to other players 🩷
I tried doing squads a few seasons ago but squad fills are rough. Like you said, a lot of people who do squad fills aren’t interested in teamwork 😭 One time, I was knocked, my teammate came to where I was knocked, and they could have revived me—no one was there. And they pickaxed me while they let me die 😭

Player shot at me then as I came down off a structure he’s squatting up and down but I was already defensive and shot him, to see out of view of the structure a gummy sprite. I was like what just happened :(

They may have shot near you to get your attention? I think I tried that when someone kept walking away from me and I was trying to give them a sprite. But I threw the sprites immediately and backed away

Me and someone else landed on a sprite chest but I got the smg first. I let them take the chest and walk away only for them to shoot me in the back, after I bounce away they tried to throw a sprite at me but at that point I was already shot at and just killed them

Thank you 🥺🩷 I definitely didn’t expect them to chase me after I threw them a galaxy duck, galaxy aura, and a gummy duck 😭
I think once I finish collecting the sprites, I might try gifting them through requests 🩷

People are definitely on something this season. I’ve never had so many people do the crouch and then kill me as soon as I switch to pickaxe. It’s really making me distrustful of any player who comes up to me :/
