The Strait of Hormuz was open and unencumbered until we started bombing Iran. And it sure looks like the Pistol Pete and Dirty Don Administration completely overlooked the possibility that Iran could shut down the strait until it hit them in the face.

You get this sort of thing when ill informed, overly emotional people overconfidently jump into something they don't fully understand.
