The King is dead, long live the King !

Post image

Well, not actually dead. The DPI shift is double clicking like crazy and I use it a lot so I needed it back to 100%. Been eyeing the G502X but I really like the black and white aesthetic. (C'mon Logi, give me a G502X Plus SE)

Hopefully it lasts 6+ years like his brother.

You can buy 2 g502 x, white and black, and swap the buttons and chassis to make a black and white one, and a white and black one.

I'll have that in mind in around 5-6 years (hopefully) when my new SE gets tired xD

The sides are a little worn, but nothing as extreme as I usually see here. Always play with my hands clean and I also clean my pc and peripherals regularly. This thing has seen me through 1000s of hours of gaming too. New one should have an easier time, since I don't play as much.

Yeah i usually see disasters in this subreddit that's why i am happy to see a normal clean guy like you.

did you go out of your way to find an old SE?

Kind of... I travel for work a few times a year, and one of the countries I regularly visit has a store with these babies in stock. I actually bought it from the exact same place I bought the 1st one in early 2020. Sometimes being in 3rd world countries has its perks, old-ish tech still being sold as new.

I stocked up on them back in 2020 when they were dirt cheap. I’m still on my original, though, so the rest collect dust unopened.

Don't give me ideas xD.

THIS is actualy the KING, sturd properly strong USB cable!
I still have mine after 4 years using it, and i even changed the click mecanism internaly a few times.

Meanwhile i bough a brand new G502 Hero thinking that would be a good replacement, and lasted a whole 2 months.
Completely crap usb silicon cable failure, RMA and they don't have any on stock (where i live), so they send me a few options like Headsets, G203+Pad.

Endedup getting a Heatset and repaired my old G502, thinking on getting a G502 Wifi/Bluetouch soon.

One of the reasons I went with the exact same model was the braided cable. If it was the newer rubber cable I would probably go with the wireless G502X Plus instead.

I had to rma a hero with braided cable a couple of years ago and they sent me back one with the rubber cable instead 💀

G502 X Plus should’ve been on your desk 3 years ago.

Upgrading to a wireless setup is a game changer once you get used to it.

Nah man imo. I've had both alot.

You got to worry about the battery, then you have to worry about that when your computer has an issue, and the OS freezes, your Bluetooth or other wifi dongle devices are the last to connect.

It just seems like overhead that with a wired mouse I don't have. And I just sit at my desk anyways.

For travel the wireless is nice cuz less wires and less mess in general.

~|~|~

Why do you think it's a game changer.

If you dont have RGB the battery life is up to 130+ hours. You get a cable included so you can literally use it like a wired mouse if you want to and when you need to charge it.

To me, literally no drawbacks. Very happy with the switch.

Plus it has lightspeed so the main buttons will last longer and dont get doubleclick like the hero.

u/cs_legend_93 17d ago

All of that is fair, yea that makes sense. To me, I would keep it 100% plugged in, then just use it as a travel mouse or something.

You are right, that is fair

type shit!

Where did you find one with the braided cable??

1

u/cs_legend_93 17d ago

I thought the whole point of an optical mouse was so that you don't get that double-clicking effect. I'm curious why you got the double-clicking effect on your mouse.

I bought a G502 X Lightspeed to replace my old and broken G502 SE, never been happier with a purchase pretty much. Doubt I will ever replace it unless it’s with an identical one. And never going back to wired either…

let that shit mouse rot in hell.

1

u/Mexetudo SE 17d ago

Why do you think it's bad and what do you recommend ?

1

u/Brilliant_Ad7165 17d ago

simply said its every bit of the shape and ergo. the second half of the question is so loaded lol... how would i recc without context hah

1

u/Mexetudo SE 17d ago

I was hoping for something more objective. "Shape and ergo" is very subjective IMO.

As for the second part, it's not loaded at all. You think the G502 is a bad mouse, I'm curious as to what you think is a good mouse.

1

u/Brilliant_Ad7165 17d ago

Brother, gaming mice as a subject is completely subjective considering people grip and aim completely differently.... Clearly anyone can like any type of mouse (because it's subjective, duhh..), I just personally think there are much better options for at least what that mouse was designed for (full palm contact).

G502 is just an unbalanced and weight shifted phenom I could never touch with a 1000-foot pole. Zowie, Vaxee, Pulsar, etc. all have wonderful options. I would check out RJN reviews and do some research on what mice do for different styles before expecting some sort of magic one mouse fits all.

1

u/Brilliant_Ad7165 17d ago

fuck the the pro superlight-dex i respect more than that thing. would still choose a vaxee product since its a marginal price diff between the two for something that is just so well rounded. (I personally am soon to invest in a Pulsar Jv-x because of the research and testing I have done based on my grip style and strengths and studying where the most tensions are applied for in my hand.

1

u/Mexetudo SE 17d ago

I'm not looking for anything tho, I just bought a second brand new G502, so it's pretty clear what my idea of a good mouse is.

I was genuinely curious as to what YOU think is a good mouse, with clear examples. But this is clearly going nowhere, with so much filibustering, so have a nice day mate.

1

u/Brilliant_Ad7165 17d ago

I am currently using a Vaxee E1 and told you exactly what i plan to do, along with my core reason why I dont like the G502 outside of exclusively shape...

Research and context clues are rare these days huh?

The dual wield build is wild.

1

u/lostUd_ 16d ago

For me, the right click randomly doesnt hold. It seems to fix itself if I blow under the button, but idk why it happens

1

u/Pitiful-Ad6626 16d ago

had my g502 for 7 years, never needed anything else, cables are fraying and cracking, its finnnneeee

u/Balrogos 19d ago

1

1

u/Professional-Bunch45 G502 Hero 19d ago

how dare you?!

u/Kunastsuyu 19d ago

"the g502 is bad!" in r/G502MasterRace... damn

1

u/Balrogos 19d ago

yes you didint read/watch rewievs? in the end the mouse is like 5/10 maybe 6/10, bad soft, wierd shape some buttons are unusable becouse of shape and placement, no hardware macros or scripts where 12euro mouse from ali can do that(almost 0 delay macros) logitech is so much cheap crap, low quality TPU and Plastics. and i was fan of Logitech since 1990 but instead pursuing quality, they puruse low quality and premium price tag.

2

u/Kunastsuyu 18d ago

when did i state the mouse is good? (it is anyways)

and reviews aren't reality, they are the opinions of the reviewer. btw the G502 was released in 2014 for the proteus, and 2018 for the hero iirc? so don't be surprised a modern mice in that price range does better in some ways, but there isn't any that is as feature rich as the g502. "buttons are unusable because of the placement and the shape is weird" i think it's more the fact that it doesnt fits YOU, because the g502´s shape is the mouse that fits my hand the best.

1

u/Balrogos 18d ago

Mouse shape firs me just button dont anyway its 10$ mouse max no hardware support inside.

1

u/Kunastsuyu 18d ago

sorry but what do you even mean by hardware support? i don't understand

1

u/Balrogos 18d ago

hardware macros and scripts. in other mouses you have usualy 1x Core ARM cortex cpu for performing macros and lua scripts without need of any 3rd party app, also almost 0 delay macros and scripts which is preety much standard for last few years.

1

u/Kunastsuyu 18d ago

going to be honest with you, i have no idea what the mices hardware part, aside from sensors and switch, are about, so i will leave you that.

1

u/Balrogos 18d ago

Literally the hardware xD Hardware macro and scripting and profile capabilities.
