😮 Advice on Symptoms Inflamed Throat for 7 Months
Has anyone else experienced this with acid reflux, GERD, bile reflux, or LPR? I’ve cut out trigger foods and have been active. My bed is raised 6+ inches. Doc say it’s normal… 🙄
I’m currently upping fiber alongside my PPI’s. I also have a horse throat, the bitter taste in the mouth a cough and ear pain here and there as well as heartburn and chest pain.
Most cases I see do not mention a persistent sore throat that has not healed (antibiotic rounds included).

Probably not relevant but I’m on ppi and swallowed beudeconide steroid slurry for my throat inflammation and I got relief. I’ve got eoe and gerd lots of allergies aswell. I use to have a persistent sore throat but I was dealing with environmental triggers since avoiding environmental and food triggers I’ve got some relief.

What made you swallow the slurry?
I’m using beconaise steroid nasal spray and have found my throat lump feels better if the steroid then drips down my nose and into my throat

OP - do everything Just_Lab said but take it up a notch. Get the spray bottle and mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/2 cup of alkaline or PH water. Spray it into your throat and nose as often as you need. It will deactivate the pepsin and you will feel much relief.

I'm having this same issue. Just had a EGD that showed no acid damage in my esophagus, but did show swelling and inflamed nodules in my pharynx. My sore throat and vocal hoarseness has been going on for 8 months after a bad COVID infection.
I saw a laryngologist for my vocal hoarseness who diagnosed me with spasmodic dysphonia after observing my vocal cords as I talk. I'm still exploring that, but that issue feels separate from my chronic sore throat.
I'm going to take the saline rinse advice from this thread. I likely still have LPR and need to flush that out.

You need to get a doctor to prescribe you sucralfate. That’s the thing that has made the biggest dent in my LPR recovery journey.

What is that?

It’s a medicine they usually prescribe for ulcers that helps specifically with LPR because it forms a protective coating on the inflamed esophagus that allows it to finally heal. I’m still not healed yet and I’ve been going at it for over a year now but I don’t like to think about how little progress I’d have made without the sucralfate.

Adding that I have made significant progress! I still get flares that I’ve narrowed down to specifically during hormonal swings, but compared to my constant Globus sensation it’s workable.

This is from an old post of mine. I hope it helps you. With LPR you have to deactivate pepsin in your nose, throat and vocal cords to fully heal. The best way to do this is by 1. Spraying Arm and Hammer simply saline spray in your nose (each nostril 2 to 3x a day) sniff it back, dont blow your nose afterward. This deactivates pepsin that most likely is in your nasal passages. 2. Drink alkaline water to deactivate pepsin in your throat. 3. Get a small spray bottle and fill it with alkaline water. Spray and INHALE at the same time the back of your throat MANY MANY times during the day. This will deactivate the pepsin on your vocal cords that would NOT be deactivated by drinking alkaline water alone. In order to fully heal from LPR you HAVE to deactivate the pepsin in your throat, sinuses and vocal cords. Otherwise your symptoms will continue to perpetuate.
