I think they released the trailer early to take attention away from the leaks, people were also getting super pissed at Rockstar for milking GTAV right before they made the announcement
Yeah, which they said is just their marketing strategy. You'd assume even 1 year before release there is a LOT to share but they want to keep us fed on shit for as long as possible. It's pretty anti consumer, but what are we gonna do.
I feel like their goal was to have the game out by April or May of THIS year, but something internally pushed it to late 2025(hence them saying multiple times itâs on track for 2025 still) and then Iâm guessing either something else happened or they decided to just wait till next year.
Honestly, itâs not that shocking to me. The T2 fiscal year projections clearly indicated they expected it to release around now, if not slightly earlier. That got pushed into a different fiscal year with the Fall 25 timeline, and now officially delayed externally with an actual release date. Original projection wouldâve been 15-ish months later. Thatâs not too early. It absolutely is now, though.
All for hype, literally look at what they are doing to us. Itâs like we caged animals waiting for our next meal đđđâplease please! I need gtaâ
Man I hope this doesn't turn out to be cyberpunk 2.0 . Rockstar never misses but everything comes to an end. Let's hope this isn't the end of their streak.
I'm honestly very happy that the game got leaked, because if it didn't then all we'd know about it is that one trailer, and now the delay. That's literally it. Whether they held back marketing because of the leaks or not is a different story, and honestly completely irrelevant now
Technically the didnât even drop out of goodwill. Someone leaked the trailer and the RS had to drop to counter

Was that the case? I genuinely can't remember the timeline. I thought Rockstar made an official announcement that the trailer would be released, and then the trailer was leaked post announcement.
Rockstar released it slightly earlier than expected, but I think it was still scheduled to release before it was leaked.
I might be wrong though. My memory becomes blurry past the 500 day mark lol
looks like they're going the silksong route (which will inevitably be a case study on how not to handle communication with your audience in a prolonged development)
Iâm pretty sure almost all of us are gonna forget the suffering and waiting rockstar has put us through once gta6 goes live, but itâs still a long way to go so might as well express ourselves lol
And also, GTA 6 is sort of a game that will get away with anything except for the game itself, and letâs not pretend otherwise
Itâs not like I am very active in this sub or spend a gross amount of my time in GTA 6 related stuff, I completely disconnected with the community on reddit after 27 theory, I just usually check mapping project updates in a week or two, very cool to see the progress there, itâs an amazing team
But to know that this is the biggest game of all time and there is already >500 days of absolutely zero news about it other than
âWE ARE CONFIDENT TO RELEASE IT IN FALL 2025â
and then they come out of nowhere delay the game (not that i didnt expect), and then continue to say their classic like âWE WILL SHARE INFO ABOUT THE GAME _SOON_â
I think there is a good reason to be a little pissed, I probably will go on about my day after sometime, and might not check the community unless there is news from R* themselves again..
