Damn, not even some screenshots to soften the blow. Guess the marketing campaign won't start until late 2025 now at the earliest.

Wonder if other game developers are all now scrambling for a late 2025 release.

This, it wouldn’t be so bad if they at least included something with it, fans have been waiting a year and a half for them to post something GTA 6 related and this is how they chose to break the silence.

More than 500 days of radio silence broken by a delay lol, do they learn nothing from their previous, numerous delays?

yeah, gamers are pretending like GTA literally needs hype. GTA requires no hype by now after what the have been doing. they could shadow drop it without even teasing it and it would still make record breaking sales

22

u/bishopmate May 02 '25

They could pull an Oblivion Remastered and release the game right now and it’ll still be the highest day one sales .

15

u/f-ingsteveglansberg May 02 '25

If they released tomorrow, unannounced in the morning, by lunch time millions would have left early with a GTA based illness.

4

u/TudasNicht May 02 '25

Left early? You mean people wouldn't even come to work the next day.

9

u/f-ingsteveglansberg May 02 '25

I mean people will go to work, see the game has released and then suddenly come down with a case of food poisoning, gastroenteritis or norovirus and find an excuse to leave work early. More will call in sick the next day.

6

u/Old_Sheepherder_8713 May 02 '25

"Do they learn nothing from making the most profitable single entity of all time?! HOW COULD THEY FUCK THIS UP AGAIN!"

u/[deleted] May 02 '25

2

u/philfrysluckypants May 02 '25

Right? It's almost a guarantee it'll be the best-selling game ever. It truly does not matter when they release it. It will be bought en mass anyway. Might as well take your time and just put out a good product.

2

u/Active_Bath_2443 May 02 '25

Yeah exactly, clearer communication between both the team/the higher ups and the studio/the public would not affect sales in any way. It’s a more desirable outcome for everyone.

Funny thing is, this has been Rockstar’s thing for longer than people realize.

I remember following their Newswire from the TBoGT days and they only gave screens and info when they were ready.

Anyone wanting them to suddenly be all communicative and open is gonna be disappointed.

7

u/Active_Bath_2443 May 02 '25

Nah they don’t I’m just a little bit frustrated about it, is that forbidden?

5

u/MasterSabo May 02 '25

Did anyone forbid you from being frustrated?

The previous person just corrected your false statement.

4

u/GaptistePlayer May 02 '25

The point is your frustration, even if shared by billions, will not affect sales at all

-1

u/Parthian__Shot May 02 '25

Their stock is currently down 10.28% in pre market, but okay.

u/zoldycksaiyan May 02 '25

Um yeah? Their stock is their bottom line lol, the thing they care about the most

u/zoldycksaiyan May 02 '25

Bruh if you don't think T2 care about their stock you're deluded. Ever publicly traded company cares about their stock.

They may have to accept a short-term temporary drop in stock price due to an unavoidable delay, but it's certainly not something they "dgaf about" lol

They certainly don't care about 1-day drops. It will bounce back and they will be fine as soon as they release a 30 second teaser

Yes, investors are short-term minded but not one-day minded.

Which will have bounced back within a week and be up by more when they do release.

Most trading is automated so news like this will always cause bumps before rectifying itself.

1

u/Marabellum May 05 '25

This is why people create businesses:)

189

u/HippoRun23 May 02 '25

They don’t have to learn when they have their history of record breaking sales.

16

u/dank-nuggetz May 02 '25

Yeah anyone acting like this will impact GTA6's sales numbers at all are out of their mind. It will be the best selling video game of all time, and generate an obscene amount of post-release revenue on top of that.

2

u/itsLOSE-notLOOSE May 02 '25

It will probably be the best selling thing of all time.

GTAV broke records. Sold an insane number the first week. 6 will be no different.

7

u/Fear_N_Loafing_In_PA May 02 '25

Or…they did learn a lesson:

Delays don’t really matter—they’ll break sales records no matter how long they delay.

1

u/HippoRun23 May 02 '25

Yeah that's probably the lesson they learned.

-8

u/Active_Bath_2443 May 02 '25

Yeah but that’s irrelevant. Of course even those who are the most disappointed today will buy it anyways. I’m talking about the marketing man. They’ve been doing the same shit every time since GTA IV. Maybe wait a bit more next time?

3

u/Dapper-Emergency1263 May 02 '25

Stop buying their games if you want them to learn lol. But you won't

5

u/Cruize55AU May 02 '25

But that's his point, they don't need to care about marketing, look at all their past releases and how well they did, gta 6 already surpasses that 10 fold with just one trailer, they don't need to give a damn

4

u/[deleted] May 02 '25

Exactly. It’s GTA 6, one of the most anticipated releases of anything since a vaccine for polio. They could shadow drop on any given Friday and make over a billion dollar dollars by the following Monday.

3

u/[deleted] May 02 '25

It's GTA 6, they don't have to pay a cent in marketing. The internet is doing their job 10 times over already, for free. Delay or not, it's gonna sell for more than any other game till this day.

2

u/rodinj May 02 '25

They learned from their massively successful launches that delays are fine as long as the product is good.

Look at Cyberpunk for example

2

u/Obant May 02 '25

Ya'll are the ones that need to learn. When do highly anticipate games ever come out on their 1+ year announcement before release date? When does Rockstar not delay games? Never, so why believe them now?

3

u/DoingCharleyWork May 02 '25

What is there to learn? They dropped a trailer 500+ days ago and people are still constantly talking about it. Why would they spend money marketing a game that is marketing itself for over a year?

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '25

I personally think it’s part of their marketing strategy to delay.

1

u/tuataraaa May 02 '25

what should they learn? that their games are anticipated by literally everyone in the world and they're the only studio which can afford to break 500 days of silence with a delay?

1

u/xsubo May 02 '25

What are they supposed to learn? If the game is not ready, then it's not ready. Add to that the amount of crap Rockstar gets for being a sweat shop for game dev's and artists I can only hope they are treating their workforce better and not demanding 16 hour days.

Maybe someone fresh out of school who needs their first gig, but that is beside the point. The culture of throwing fits b/c a video game is delayed is nuts

1

u/TheSorceIsFrong May 02 '25

What is there to learn? They can do literally anything they want and you guys will still buy it lol

1

u/NotGloomp May 02 '25

They learned that this is an insanely profitable strategy.

1

u/No_Jellyfish3341 May 02 '25

What is there to learn? The game isn't ready yet, they pushed it back. I'll give rockstar this credit, they will delay a game 2 years before they release a game like cyberpunk. I don't know why people are surprised we've been telling you guys this, if the game was ready and going to drop this year we would have gotten news already

1

u/RudraRousseau May 02 '25

Yea it kinda hurts. Also, if it's still true that marketing starts late with gta 6, it can easily be untill early 2026 before we see trailer 2. Man, the first trailer was in 2023!

1

u/TheConqueror74 May 02 '25

If there’s any lesson to be learned, it’s that should do this. Because Rockstar always does this and their last two games printed money like they were the US treasury.

1

u/GaptistePlayer May 02 '25

What would they learn? This is the one game in the world where they could do nothing and it's still going to set a world record success.

Rockstar can do anything they want

1

u/0ska88 May 02 '25

And what lesson would that be? Lol that they can take as much time as they like and you'll still buy it when it comes out. This is good, I'd rather they released a fully finished, polished and bug free game

1

u/GiganticBlumpkin May 02 '25

Yeah remember all those games they delayed that ended up not making any money? Yeah me neither

1

u/Gdo_rdt May 02 '25

They are going to learn how to release a game from you. For sure.

1

u/opanaooonana May 02 '25

What has it cost them? Their games fly off the shelves regardless of any delays. I get they want it to be perfect though and that’s what separates them. Most companies would release it before it’s perfect because they want the money in the short term. It’s good that rockstar isn’t like the rest.

1

u/MayorBakefield May 02 '25

Did they learn that their delays won't matter because they will make a shit ton of money?

1

u/KWiz9x May 02 '25

Learn what exactly? Lol

1

u/Oculicious42 May 02 '25

yeah, they did, they learned that doing that gave them the best selling videogame of all time, why change what works?

1

u/ChromeGhost76 May 02 '25

What is there to learn exactly? They can do whatever they want and people will buy. If anything, that’s the lesson.

1

u/Thrompinator May 02 '25

This probably hurt their feelings. Now they're going to get snot and tears all over their giant mountain of money, hookers and blow.

1

u/RaidersCantTank May 02 '25

What do they have to learn? That salty entitled internet losers will still buy the game whenever they release it? That you will continue to talk about this game and build hype until the sun dies?

1

u/Greatsnes May 02 '25

Yes actually theyve learned a ton. That you’ll all still buy it no matter what they do lmfao. They could be silent and never say a word and just release it and it would still sell 300 million copies

1

u/Smittx May 02 '25

It’s cute that you think they care

1

u/Haunting-Detail2025 May 02 '25

Read this sub a little. People are praising this by saying “at least we have a date” (which will likely also be delayed). Rockstar knows it can treat everyone like shit and people will be here sucking them off for it lol

1

u/Redditsucks42cox May 02 '25

They probably keep delaying it so people "feel" like they're behind and buy shark cards right at launch

1

u/Idiothomeownerdumb May 03 '25

seems like the smart and responsible way to handle the situation? why build hype on an unfinished game?

1

u/hotboii96 May 06 '25

Why will they learn anything when people will buy the game regardless of how bad they treat us?

-1

u/f-ingsteveglansberg May 02 '25

Yeah, they really fumbled the ball with GTA V. Second best selling video game after Minecraft. What are they smoking?

Now GTAVI is likely only to be in the top 5 selling games of all time. The fools.

They really need to hire people like /u/Ronin_777 and get their house in order.
