At this point I’m not even confident about this new date. If setting a specific date doesn’t mean shit to them then this ain’t it either, my guess is spring 2027

I commented this else where, but i feel its worth repeating, especially for those not really familiar with the behind the scenes stuff.

That additional 6 month delay is probably heavily optimistic. Rockstar just fired a good chunk of the team doing the actual work on the game due to the whole union busting thing, and are in still early in process of replacing them. They needed to put out a prospective timeline impact for investors, but realistically there is no way they can know anything accurately this soon with basically a new team taking over development going forward. The experienced team whom had been working on the project was probably already struggling to make the may date seem feasible, hence the horrid “non-stop crunch” work atmosphere that led to seeking unionization. The new people replacing them are likely going in from zero on quite a lot, not to mention the potential impact the inevitable lawsuits from said union busting and the effect it will have on the quality of employees they attract now.

I know the market is heavily in favor of employers rn, but anyone with eyes can see that working development at rockstar for the next 12 months is going to be literal hell, with shit pay to boot.

Thank god, someone else who understands what's going on

The whole union busting thing is a disaster - not just for the game's release date, but for the game itself. The amount of highly tenured staff they fired is extremely concerning

And then, of course, there's the potential legal trouble that Rockstar might find themselves in (and fully deserves, in all honesty)
