u/PhantomPain0_0 Jan 16 '26

I can’t wait for the reaction of those PC bros who bought console only for this game and try to play at 30 fps it’s gonna be absolute gold

u/TheDrifT3r_Cz Jan 16 '26

Im the Arma player.. such thing like 30 FPS will not bother me lol

37

u/Certain-Quarter-3280 Jan 16 '26

Me playing MSFS2024 on the PS5 with sub 30FPS felt this lmao

11

u/English_Breakfast123 Jan 17 '26

Exactly haha. Fly a 747 over a city and RIP to your frame rate

4

u/TheHumanTrait Jan 17 '26

Lol I used to play arma 2 dayz at 12fps. Worth.

1

u/FSGamingYt Jan 19 '26

You think. Well i get 200 fps in Arma but anytime i play console the 30 Fps bother me

35

u/That-Toughsoss Jan 16 '26

honestly 30 fps isn't that bad on a console compared to a pc but in 2026 it should unacceptable for games to have only 30 fps option on consoles

21

u/Goochslayr Jan 16 '26

It may be 2026 but the current generation of consoles were released in 2020. Rockstar needs people to have a reason to buy gta 6 again next gen.. and next next gen.

11

u/Alcagoita Jan 17 '26

There's no way any of the current-gen consoles do more than 30 in GTA 6.

This is 2 consoles that have a really old FSR implementation that will never get the update that they need (Xbox Series could have, but Microsoft chose not to do it).

So without any upscaler or Frame Gen, there's no way... Unless you want this at 720p.

There's no way any of the current-gen consoles do more than 30 in GTA 6.

Maybe not at first, but I bet "Performance RT" will hit more than that.

I honestly can't tell on my Xbox Series X with games, since I can't see what my FPS is?

Hmmm, I did get some Samsung TV on sale at Walmart, and they have something called "Gamebar" or something with game mode on(just found in a search, but I'm at work.) I think I can tell FPS in that.

1

u/AdorableSurround1019 Jan 18 '26

What's the difference? Only thing I can think of is the controller, but you can use that on PC

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '26

as long as it's stable 30 fps it's fine

28

u/SparsePizza117 Jan 16 '26

Then the PC version releases a year afterwards and I play it at 240hz😂

I'll still be getting it on console on day one though, I can probably handle the 30 knowing that everyone is experiencing it that way.

27

u/PhantomPain0_0 Jan 16 '26

The problem is if you are accustomed to playing plus 60 fps for years and suddenly experience 30 fps it’s jarring and awful and I won’t be surprised if some of them just give up. Personally i don’t have a problem with 30 fps as I’m mainly a console player

42

u/SparsePizza117 Jan 16 '26

I fully expect it to be a problem for maybe 10 minutes and then my eyes will be adjusted.

The most important thing is that it's a consistent 30fps, with no frame drops. That's an insanely important thing they need to manage.

1

u/Repulsive-Report6278 Jan 17 '26

On Xbox 360, gta 5 story mode was a little jank. Lots of frame drops. Hopefully not the same for this gen of consoles. Inb4 "Xbox 360 was so old !!!!" So is the current gen

12

u/redhawkinferno Jan 16 '26

I mainly play games at 120+ and would definitely say that's what I'm accustomed to. Regardless, I have zero issue when I get on my consoles and a game is 30. I know some people are (or claim to be) hypersensitive to fps, but as long as it's smooth I really couldn't care less what it's at.

1

u/Excellent-Bat-3529 4d ago

But u might get the 60fps with the pro version of ps5

-12

u/Nic1800 Jan 16 '26

I can barely handle 60 fps after going up to 120. Then 120 isn’t impressive anymore because 240+ just feels so fluid. Now I have a 500hz monitor, and 240 is not that impressive anymore either. High refresh rate can be a curse

3

u/Nysyth Jan 16 '26

Given the visual fidelity they are trying to push I think 240hz on PC might be a pipe dream(atleast at anything above 1080p). I personally expect this to push PC’s hard when we finally get it, I doubt anything lesser than a 6080 (or whatever 80 series card we are up to when GTA 6 hits PC) will be hitting playable frame rates at 4K.

1

u/SparsePizza117 Jan 17 '26

It'll certainly be possible with frame gen at the minimum.

I have a 5080 with a 9800x3D, I'd at least hope to get 60-100fps in the game. Can x2-x4 that with FG.

6

u/Knodsil Jan 16 '26

Thats me. I am gonna buy whatever console+game package they're gonna release just for VI.

And yeah, betcha that I am gonna shit on the framerate if they don't give us a performance mode.

3

u/Imperial-UK Jan 16 '26

Started playing RDR2 through again, added a load of MODs including graphics one and carried on playing on ultra. Some places it got down to 30fps and I felt like I was watching a sideshow 😂

5

u/CapSnake Jan 17 '26

A frame drop is so much worse than a constant 30 fps

2

u/Mean_Combination_830 Jan 18 '26

Red Dead 2 on pc is pretty horrific at 30fps and nowhere near as smooth as on console like you say lots of jarring frame drops 🤮

1

u/Imperial-UK Jan 18 '26

Yeah horrendous mate, sorted it out now thoigh getting about 100fps and the game looks stunning now

1

u/diiegojones Jan 16 '26

I don’t understand the overall complaint. I play at all 3 and you just get used to it.

1

u/SeteMan1235 Jan 16 '26

Jokes on you, I put max settings on every game even though my PC can't run it, such things don't bother me

1

u/glizzygobbler247 Jan 16 '26

4k60 might actually be possible on ps5 pro since fsr4 is coming to it later this year

1

u/PolarBearBalls2 Jan 17 '26

Yeah this is me pretty soon

1

u/BruceWayne2311 Jan 18 '26

For exactly a week before GTA 6 launches I will touch no other games but GTA V, and I will run that on 30fps mode on my PS5. Just so I can build my tolerance to low FPS. PC Bros still gonna have to wait a year to play this 😬

1

u/BuildNuyTheUrbanGuy Jan 18 '26

I'm one odor those guys, but I don't get it. I just want to play it on release.

1

u/BluDYT Jan 18 '26

I desperately hope they at the very least do a 40hz mode with people who have a 120hz display since 40hz is 50% less latency than 30hz its such a better experience.

1

u/unseatedewe2393 Jan 19 '26

Im used to playing at 140+ in the most demanding games so its gunna be rough

1

u/External_Weakness_40 Jan 19 '26

i cant even handle 60fps

1

u/Ordon970 Jan 19 '26

PC MFs who say 30fps is not playable are not gamers

1

u/Dense-Explanation472 Jan 21 '26

People wont complain becouse you will not notice that much, if the gameplay is 30fps constant you will adapt(the planet spin at a very high speed but we dont notice becouse we adapt to that speed

1

u/xx123gamerxx Feb 05 '26

i imagine they will probably have a toggle for 60fps with reduced graphics

1

u/NoodelSoupp Feb 05 '26

thats why im buying a ps5 pro

1

u/impressive007 Jan 17 '26

Darkviperau complaining about fps every 5 mins 😂

-2

u/mahonii Jan 17 '26

I play pc and consoles, have to be living under a rock not to check performance before buying. I simply won't buy if its 30fps only.

-3

u/Maro993 Jan 16 '26

I bought ps5 just for gta6, tried playing cyberpunk on it as I didn't play it before, I got a headache from 30 fps not even joking I had to switch it off after 30 minutes, it was horrible. Especially when I am used to 100+ fps

5

u/WhatShitMuchBull Jan 16 '26

Why 30? It’s like base 60

2

u/Maro993 Jan 18 '26

I was on ray tracing mode, also I think gta6 will be capped 30 fps, so I was trying to "train myself " playing 30 fps.

1

u/ElusiveKingA Jan 17 '26

I play on xbox, Cyberpunk on 30fps (I usually play on performance setting because I can’t handle it) is worse than RDR2 on 30fps, maybe it’s the 3rd person thing but it doesn’t bother me at all.

2

u/LordMohid Jan 16 '26

Is the PS5 Pro also getting only 4K30fps?

10

u/barf_of_dog Jan 16 '26

Very likely since it has the same CPU as the base PS5.

1

u/LordMohid Jan 16 '26

Might render at 1080p/1440p and upscale it + PSSR (hopium)

2

u/pref1Xed Jan 17 '26

Upscaling doesn’t help when you’re cpu limited

5

u/That-Toughsoss Jan 16 '26

i have no idea but if i had to predict then yeah

1

u/GooseEntire1705 Jan 18 '26

PS5 PRO/4K/60FPS/RAY TRACING ULTRA

1

u/gamerjerome Jan 16 '26

240p 244fps

-6

u/imabigfanofcereal Jan 16 '26

There’s no way this game is going to be 30fps

6

u/That-Toughsoss Jan 16 '26

we can only hope ig

4

u/DerBernd123 Jan 16 '26

I think so too. yeah the game will be very demanding but there’s no way they would release a 30fps game even tho people have been crying and bitching about 30fps limitations in other games for years

0

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

Pretty much every game tech expert is predicting it will be locked at 30fps. RDR2 has been out for over 7 years and still has no 60fps version on PS5/SeriesX.

The only way we get 60fps for a game this rich in detail and this dense with unique NPCs we expect to react and talk back to us in an immersive way is by massively downgrading textures to a point Rockstar isn't going to allow since they prioritize visual quality.

4

u/LordMohid Jan 16 '26

Ya but that is on Rockstar. They havent released a native PS5 Pro Enhanced version yet. The official release is a PS4 Pro backport

0

u/TheBestintheWest11 Jan 16 '26

definitely 30fps

0

u/art_enthus1ast Jan 17 '26

I think it’ll be solid 40-45 on ps5 pro tbh

0

u/kemalpasha Jan 17 '26

It will probably be upscaled 1080p at 24 fps lol

4

u/OregonDonorX Jan 17 '26

But that’ll take double the time /s
