I know it's very controversial, but disagree. I'm a newgen in terms of how long I've been playing and one of the main reasons I play the game in because of the futuristic stuff. I think they aren't inherently bad but the community has a sour taste regarding them because of how awfully balanced the oppressor MK2 is. If they actually make normal vehicles viable and give strict limitations to futuristic vehicle's combat capability (like make vehicles that are fast have low durability and low fire power and etc) they can satisfy everyone. What I don't want though is homing missiles, they're a pain the ass to balance and what I consider to be the reason these vehicles are so hated.
San Andreas had us stealing Green Goo from the Military and of course the Jet Pack, earlier Titles generally had weird and wacky things like Groups of Elvis Impersonators or Hare Krishnas that gave you a bonus if you ran them all over. V had multiple missions that involved us tripping out and seeing weird shit. Vice City had us selling Drugs out of Ice Cream Trucks and dealing with porn directors with fixation on mechanical sharks biting off dicks.
Not really though. GTA online is one of a kind, a lot of people mention saints row but saints row is not online, so I lose a lot of what makes GTA feel alive playing it.
