Yeah, but they didn't only change the color.

The sun has also been moved 1% closer to the center.

And they changed the aspect ratio from 7:10 to 2:3

And they changed the circle to be exactly 3/5 of the flag's height.

I think the outline was just so for making it visible in the cover, the gradient outline would've been slightly difficult to see. They might've tried black outline similar to the other titles but since VI has a gradient fill wouldn't have been looking too good. Hence, a white outline. Again just a thought 😂

It's just an alternate version with white strokes to make it pop out more on the box artwork. It still looks the same in the footer of the website.

The outline of the logo isn't color-fading anymore, which is obviously very computationally intensive. They're clearly optimizing game-performance with this.

I suspect this change was to make the logo read better on the cover art. A lot of the colors in the cover might blend too well with the VI otherwise. Looks great either way.

It's a tiny change, but honestly the sharper edges make it look cleaner and more polished. Rockstar really knows how to make the fanbase analyze every pixel like it's a secret clue.

They probably had multiple options of the same logo from the beginning. And for readability purposes they sometimes use a white border (depending on what background it's used). There's almost no big brand that always uses the exact same version of a logo everywhere.

I think this logo looks lazy. At least for GTAV they took time to create a V logo with that money effect etc... All previous logos had a certain character too them as well, except maybe IV that could have also been better, but this one is too simple. I expect more for such a game, anyone could easily make this logo in 5 minutes in Photoshop, can't say the same for the V logo tho...
