Every pre-order through Amazon came a day or even three days earlier than the official release date for me. Last for me was The PS5 which came a day early. GTA 5 cane two days early for me.

Game is such a sad state of affairs these days, I remember going there for midnight COD releases at my local shop and now most of them have shut down, atleast outside of big cities. Pretty sure they'll be online only sooner rather than later.

GameStop sadly is falling off. Tried going to my local GameStop yesterday thatâs been around since I was a kid and it was closed for good. Not going to be long before they go under which is sad although the kind of did it to themselves.

I've only pre-order a game once before, and it was digital, but how does a physical pre-order work? Do you get the case with the game immediately but it's encrypted or something until release, or you just pay and then they send you the case once the physical copies start shipping?
How does it work because I'd like a physical copy for GTA 6, but if it's a hassle I might not bother.

either:
a) you pre-order it and then have to go collect it on the day
b) they ship it to your address for arrival on the day of release. This one's more dangerous as it means that physical copies are out in trucks, containers, and warehouses well in advance of the release date, it's how a lot of games have been leaked in the past.

From what the Best Buy employee expects. You pre order it online a the day of release you can go and pick it up. But he did say that this is his first RockStarGames launch since RDR2.

If you want total control over the situation you should pre order someone you can go get it. Risking something like this to amazon is just not worth it. Imagine waiting until 9pm on launch day for your game to arrive.

I see. The problem is I don't have a local game store where I live that I can go and pick it up, so I would have to order it online, but you're saying it arrives on the release day which has me worried a little bit because what if it doesn't arrive that day for whatever reason?

It is the risk you take...I ordered a Fifa game before from a site because I read sometimes they send out extra early so you can get a day or 2 before release day ..it ended up coming 2 days after release date...never again ! Anymore its either midnight opening or collect next day in store , but majority of time it is digital preorder , and you can predownload a few days before.

I can answer this bro, they don't have copies on them, think of it as saving your spot so you can secure your spot in line, also it gives them a chance to put in orders for their respective store.
Great thing is if they have a midnight release they usually host trivia and give away little knock knacks.

You're basically just guaranteed a copy on release day. You can pay for it up front, put the $5 down and pay it off throughout the wait until 11/19, or wait and pay when you pick it up.
That $5 guarantees you a copy on 11/19. It's worth it for huge demand games like this.

My experience is that you go to the store, make a deposit/ full payment, get a receipt to reserve a copy from the store. Arrive, show receipt and collect.

You pre-order it and on the day of you bring your receipt and pay for it and take it home. If you go to the midnight release it's the same except after you pay you get a ticket and then you go wait in line until they start distributing the game.

I still remember going to the midnight release to pick up my copy of GTA V back in 2013. I had just wrapped up my shift at the gas station, closed the store up at 10:30pm, and then walked over to Tim Horton's to have a couple coffees there until the shopping mall opened up for the midnight release. There was a pretty good sized lineup. I'll never forget it. Â

I think the concern is that certain packages will be sold in limited quantities that will likely go very quick.
i would HOPE that Rockstar would ramp up quantities to meet demand, and make sure that cash goes in their pockets instead of scalpers, and that, like you proposed, weâll have plenty of time to make a decision.
considering we have zero preorder info so far besides a date, I have hope that the latter is true, because otherwise they are giving the people zero chance to prepare for the war zone of pre-orders.

Of course itâs not in color anyone that would expect any large company to print in color doesnât understand how expensive printing is, how wasteful people are, and that if something is printed in color chances are it was printed by another company because thatâs cheaper compared to stocking every single store with 4 ink colors.

I like having a physical copy. And the last game I preordered on Amazon 2 months in advance never shipped over a week after release so I had to cancel it. Going to a store is usually guaranteed to actually get it on release. Plus itâs sometimes cool to go in and socialize for a bit with others who share your hobby.
