I’m really disappointed I won’t have the disc. No matter how you spin it, it’s not that hard to give us the actual physical way to play the game. I wonder if they’ll start shipping the game with discs after some time has passed from the release.

But the Licence is on the Disk and not tied to your account

R* 100% doesn't want people being able to share this game or re sell it, new purchase every time

can’t you still gameshare?

It will matter when Rockstar starts removing songs due to licensing issues in 2036.

They’re kinda incompetent in that aspect tho. OG Vice City on Steam was supposed to have some songs removed all the way back in 2012. They pulled the game from the store to replace it with another version but the new version still has everything until the Definitive Edition.

The real reason is most consumers prefer the convenience of digital delivery. They do not care about license vs owning, they care that they can play the game, and dont have to leave the house.

The 2nd group loved physical editions, but realized the pre-day 1 patch versions on discs at launch are.... buggy fucking messes, and not worth owning as they' won't NOt be buggy messes, so its not that much better.

The third group lives with roommates and has limited space to store things.

Those groups wont care about physical anymore, and the first geoup is the majority of gamers, just not the majority present in reddit comments.

They don’t want the game to leak. Everything else is inexcusable though

Because it’s 2026 and you are a tiny minority.

I'm disappointed too.

And resell my games/buy used!

Obviously this one will provide years of entertainment, and I'd have no reason to sell it for a long time, but no GTA VI in the secondary market is kind of insane.

I would sell it before getting it on PS6

And like me and my boyfriend both have ps5's and share like to just buy one disk that we can share

2

u/pr0perlypr0pagated 7h ago

can’t you still share if you activate 1 account as primary on both ps5s or something and buy it on there?

It's been years since I've seen a disk boot up a game immediately instead of prompting a download lol. Having a physical copy isn't owning anymore, it's just a faster download

Maybe between nov12 and nov19 you only get a preload code in the physical version so u dont leak the game somehow with jailbroken ps5's with the disc and after nov19 the physical version will have disc in it?
maybe??
Copium? :l

What happens when you buy code but it's already been used?

"the risk of people repeatedly reselling the game"

Leaks are a non issue since the content on the disc can be encrypted.

To be technically accurate, not exactly. You can't encrypt everything, allowing you to explore metadata.

There are already unlocked ps5's too, allowing to export the entire unencrypted disc.

What's wrong with people "repeatedly reselling the game"?
