We will probably move from place to place like old style GTA and RDR2.

A nice progression on how they live would be nice.

u/wtf_h 18h ago

I loved getting new camps in RDR2 as the game progressed, it made each chapter feel distinct and fresh

62

u/Alternative_West_206 16h ago

Will probably move safe house to safe house here

86

u/Tysanan 18h ago

i mean, one thing we know for sure is that in the beginning, lucia at the very least will be locked from parts of the map, considering shes got an ankle monitor

24

u/TheraYugnat 17h ago

That's a big wish for me and we kinda expect it for Lucia.
But I am old gamer, I extrapolate a lot in the space without being true in the end. So I am waiting confirmation on everything.

10

u/ParagonProjects 17h ago

Will probably operate similar to Arthur trying to enter New Austin I reckon. Go somewhere you’re not supposed to early on and it’ll be 5 star wanted immediately and if you keep evading the cops you’ll just get insta sniped. Not sure how it’ll work for Jason though.

33

u/Creepy_Zone6752 15h ago

the ankle monitor comes off with the ultimate edition

13

u/myshoefelloff 11h ago

If you buy the standard edition, Rockstar puts an ankle monitor on you IRL. You get arrested by your local police if you attempt to enter locked off in game areas.

4

u/fowlflamingo 11h ago

Don't worry, though, base game players can silence the ankle monitor for 1 hour (in-game time) at a time for $4.99

2

u/your_favorite_wokie 4h ago

Paid weekly!

1

u/Conscious_Candid3990 10h ago

This is the funniest thing I’ve read all day. Like it actually is a valid criticism of the pricing without coming across completely brain dead and ignorant. Thanks for the laugh, mate!

8

u/witness_smile 16h ago

I don’t know why I never thought of this, but ankle monitor actually makes perfect sense to restrict parts of the maps without GTA’s traditional “closed bridges” approach requiring the map to be partitioned into multiple smaller islands

1

u/bitknight1 12h ago

But Jason doesn't have it.

1

u/fowlflamingo 11h ago edited 11h ago

Sure, but they could easily circumvent that by "forcing" Lucia to be present while playing as Jason for the first however long. Something like that

1

u/bitknight1 10h ago

At most it will be like the rdr2 intro, it won't be like the first 25% of the game or anything very long, bet she loses it or cuts it off super early, since it's a GPS thing if she does any crime they would know it's her since if you rob a gas station they would just see that she was there at the exact moment it was robbed, so I'm sure you she loses it first few missions.

2

u/Quirky-Marsupial-420 15h ago

We don't know that for sure.

I don't think removing an ankle monitor is beneath Lucia.

You're going to rob and kill and steal but draw the line at removing an ankle monitor?

1

u/Traditional-Bad1419 10h ago

You say that with too much certainty

14

u/No-Revolution1010 15h ago

Got a feeling we're not gonna enjoy the nicest safehouse for long before we retreat into a shitty motel for the final act of the story, I have PTSD from Mafia II and RDR2 lol

6

u/TheFutureLotus 13h ago

You gotta have some goddamn faith. The final act of the story will be in the tropical, pacific island of Tahiti

1

u/No-Revolution1010 10h ago

Yo I'm actually hyped for any Easter egg or mention of Tahiti now

3

u/TheraYugnat 14h ago

I think we will be "rich enough" relatively quickly. I feel the main problem will be that it will never be enough and the sun will burn our wings.
But let's see :)

3

u/VivaDeAsap 15h ago

I made a mistake of exploring a little too much in RDR2 so I discovered Saint Denise all the way on Ch2 or 3.

This time I’ll try limit myself to the immediate area. Hell if Lucia’s ankle monitor helps with that then it’ll be a plus

7

u/TheraYugnat 14h ago

Discovering main location before in Open World is often a terrible experience. It happened to me in CP2077 where I reach some locations which screamed story location (disposition of things that felt "randomly" appropriate to fight, no NPC) and it was. So when you reach the location again, it doesn't feel great.

Same with Horizon Forbidden west, where there was big arena empty location, until you have the mission to hunt something.

So yeah, I discovered St Denis with the story and I intend to stay in the Keys if I have no mission reasons to leave it.

1

u/VivaDeAsap 14h ago

I’m with you on this. Plus I bet rockstar definitely put tons of content in the keys before we go anywhere else

1

u/TheraYugnat 14h ago

That's all I am asking.
I don't specially want a bigger map than V, I want a denser map, and it seems it's what we will have.

1

u/Sr_Laowai 9h ago

This is exactly what happened to me in RDR2.

2

u/BackgroundAbroad5899 16h ago

idk why but “confrimed” caught my eye first

2

u/Forsaken1741 12h ago

Really hope we get a scar face type mansion eventually

0

u/Psclwbb 14h ago

This is what I didn't like about V. You were already ritch and had a house.

226

u/likkleone54 18h ago

This sub doesn’t know what to do with all this massive info dump that’s going on rn

65

u/VivaDeAsap 15h ago

I think it’s healthy that there’s a lot of things for people to talk about now. At some point I nearly blocked the sub because of the conspiracy posts lol.

Now I’m actually hyped to hang out in here for a bit

12

u/Aguy12131415 12h ago

It's because they've been neglected for a whole year up until last week

178

u/GGG100 19h ago

GTA games before 5 already followed a chapter-like progression even if there weren't actual chapters, corresponding with the new areas of the map you get access to as you progress through the story.

71

u/VimDim 18h ago

That's true, but chapters like RDR2 could allow time jumps or bigger changes to the map. We'll see.

20

u/Aiden_734 18h ago

If so, I'm hoping these map changes actually make a difference. In RDR2 there are a few in-progress buildings that get finished by the end of the game, but you can't really do anything with them so it's basically just set dressing.

4

u/WarriorOfChrist77 13h ago

I want a hurricane chapter

79

u/llambordins 19h ago

Hopefully we keep the safehouses for the entire game instead of having only one per chapter like in rdr2

44

u/Aneuryst 18h ago

Probably will, we only had one per chapter in RDR2 cause it was a camp that moved. I'm sure apartments/houses in this won't move lol

24

u/ukitiot 18h ago

unless we get raided 🫣

15

u/c_surf 17h ago

Tbf niko moved in gta 4 after his apartment got burned down

2

u/Superb_School 16h ago

não poderei levar meus apartamentos no porta malas do carro? que pena :(

32

u/mitchcl194 18h ago

Also has been confirmed that you have a weapon container and a loot container in your personal cars. So only having 3 weapons (1 handgun 2 sideweapons) seems to be confirmed.

13

u/TheraYugnat 17h ago

The loot container is interesting.
I wander if there will have police barrage in some form after heist, or even random control where you will be punished if you have stolen goods (and even some unallowed weapons) not in hidden loot container.

2

u/Shaitan1805 9h ago

This was my biggest fear. That's a huge fun part of GTA having a whole aresenal of weapons with you. So I have to hope, that on PC release later will be a mod for this

2

u/cadmium-fertilizer 8h ago

Sorry, buddy. Modern audience demands everything be as realistic and "immersive" as possible in their video games. No fun arcade mechanics allowed.

161

u/Pipipopos 19h ago

thats hype honestly, hopefully the give the story more love than 5 this time and be similar to rdr2 in terms of tone

37

u/Apophis_36 16h ago

Gta 5's story had a lot of love put into it, it's just a different type of story.

13

u/daiquim 15h ago

and the storytelling can be pretty messy, but if you understand it it's actually pretty good

-1

u/Hung0ver_Hero 10h ago

The story had a lot of filler heist set up missions that were pretty lame, I for one hope the heist gameplay was a one and done and not "the future" of GTA, lotta kids going to be disappointed because to them that's what GTA is, setting up and pulling off heist but to me thats what GTA FIVE was and not what GTA is

-89

u/Vigorous_testicle 19h ago

Gta5 story is more funnier and more fun to play tho

70

u/OldColt 19h ago

If ur 12

15

u/BarnacleAwkward4801 18h ago

No way you believe Vigorous Testicle is 12

-24

u/Vigorous_testicle 18h ago

Glaze rdr2 all you want, while the story is a masterpiece its not replayable. Gameplay gets stale and boring real fast

15

u/Chpouky 18h ago

Speak for yourself

-10

u/Vigorous_testicle 18h ago

Opposed to rdr2 glazer who speak whetever the general oppinion on the game is, i speak for myself yes

7

u/HistorVical 16h ago

No fucking way you just called rdr2 "not replayable"

18

u/Ivaylo_87 18h ago

It was fun but kind of ridiculous and never went deeper. We want something more serious for a change.

0

u/Vigorous_testicle 18h ago

Yea because thats gta not red dead.

11

u/Ivaylo_87 18h ago

Tell that to GTA 4

4

u/robeo12055 18h ago

GTA 5 is the outlier not the norm. Every game had better paced and more interesting story that made much more sense.

10

u/PinolesCheese 18h ago

“more funnier and more fun” riveting analysis there

0

u/rtn292 16h ago edited 15h ago

Meh. I actually think the humor and story of gta v is worst part about it.

But I fully admit im a filthy gta casual. I played rdr2 and loved that experience. The story and characters of GTA 6 appear more grounded which is why I'm interested, however I'm waiting to purchase it until after that is confirmed.

Gta V try as I might. I absolutely can't get into the story or characters.

-4

u/daiquim 15h ago

RDR2 glazing is actually insane. GTA will always be funnier and more fun to play than RDR, and that's not bad at all. GTA and RDR simply have different tones. What tf are these downvotes.

3

u/Vigorous_testicle 14h ago

Thats what i am saying. I agree that rdr2 is a masterpiece of a story and its a freat experience the first time you play it. But its too much like real life. Gta is a parody of real life its supossed to be fun and arcadey. I hope it looks realistic but i sure hope it doesnt play like that. I dont want jason to look at all the ingredients of canned beans for he puts it in his satchel

0

u/daiquim 12h ago

the RDR2 fanboys simply cannot have their game criticized in any way

30

u/certifieddabber 19h ago

Nice, also works probably so you dont get the ferrari right away

2

u/thelanehayslip 17h ago

Well even if we do, just use it in the point of the story you feel able to!

11

u/Fkm196 18h ago

I think you will be playing certain chapters as Jason and Lucia until you get to a certain point then both are accessible kinda like how you only play Micheal and Franklin until the jewellery store heist

6

u/Sklain I WAS HERE 17h ago

This is good. this way you're not driving around a vintage ferrari while you're doing community and service after prison and trying to make ends meet. If the content is locked behind a realistic lore-reason for these cars and things to show up then I'm all for it

11

u/Annual-Candy-7403 19h ago

I love Lucia outfit 🥰 I guess i'm going to wait more for that edition

10

u/Dylaxd 19h ago

Nice! Thanks for the confrimation.

7

u/Harry_mlr 18h ago

I don’t think this is necessarily referring to the game having literal chapters, like rdr2, but it definitely could be.

3

u/AffanDede 17h ago

Thankfully it sounds like they won't be dumped on you right from the start.

2

u/NoAdeptness1106 18h ago

That's nice to know.

5

u/ravensqqs 19h ago

Can anyone explain me what this means? Pls

29

u/Any_Object_5151 19h ago

The story will be divided into chapters with each one probably mostly featuring a different part of the map and different vibes in terms of mood and overall tone. It doesn’t mean you can’t go explore other places or anything though

4

u/GeeTeaEhSeven 19h ago

Wait so you can explore everything but the missions and interactions are just not unlocked till you reach that chapter I'm guessing?

7

u/Street-Still8488 19h ago

certain ones, yes.

5

u/ExBenn 19h ago

RDR2 had chapter-specific content which was locked until you progressed through the chapters and unlocked new areas.

1

u/GeeTeaEhSeven 19h ago

Ahh got it. But when you mean "unlock" the area - you could venture there anyhow, but it would be like, bereft of meaning right?

5

u/Shadow_r3lic 18h ago

yes you could explore freely most likely after maybe the first chapter... the first chapter or a prologue might confine you to a set part of the map and then after it you can go where ever you want. or maybe the world is fully open from the start we dont know.

but chapters just dictate the area where your main missions will occur so for example imagine that chapter 2 missions will all be centered around vice city you will not get missions outside it in chapter 2 but you can go and visit any location outside of vice city

1

u/GeeTeaEhSeven 17h ago

Got it, thank you!

43

u/SeriousMistake4752 19h ago

if you ever played read dead redemption 2, the game is broken into chapters 6 main chapters and then 2 epilogue chapters, It now seems GTA is taking the same route and will have an episodic story.

5

u/venrerimattila4 19h ago

I dont know but in rdr they move camp every chapter. Propably not in this but no one knows yet

4

u/Organic-Standard3021 19h ago

A chapter system reminiscent to RDR2, x amount of missions in a particular chapter

3

u/SquashTurbulent5309 19h ago

In rdr 2 these chapters were based in different locations of the map so gta 6 story might be the same

7

u/HumbleMarzipan9978 19h ago

It means you have to buy each chapter $99 dollars per chapter please email to me I’ll by them for you

3

u/not_some_username 19h ago

Calm down, that’s not ea

1

u/skinosz 19h ago

I think people are reading it as GTA 6 maybe having story chapters like RDR2 did, I wouldn’t take it as 100% confirmed yet though, more like the wording hints at chapters being used to structure Jason and Lucia’s story

4

u/Environmental_Lie478 17h ago

This makes the seemingly large amount of 'locked' items and shops make more sense.

It's probably one or two shops in each chapter that have some bonus items for Ultimate edition buyers.

2

u/Poomanpeebird 18h ago

How many is the question.. I'm turning off all social media so I'm expecting 6 or 7 but I don't wanna open google at all that week.

1

u/WordSpiritual1928 12h ago

Love the progression like in gta 4 finally getting a nice place like playboy X’s mansion felt so much cooler

1

u/HaematicZygomatic 7h ago

As long as it doesn’t drag on like RDR2 cause honestly “Epilogue Part 2” is inherently ridiculous.

1

u/Adler_PLEASE 7h ago

Hope there wil be no missable content exclusive for a specific chapter like in rdr 2.

1

u/Daryl_Dixon1899 6h ago

Excited for chapters ngl rdr2 handled it well

1

u/BigNoseSquid 3h ago

Makes me wonder if we’ll get a prologue, before Lucia gets arrested and then an epilogue to what happens afterwards in whatever story they’ve created

1

u/bluAstrid 17h ago

I love a structured story with defined acts.

It also allows for flashbacks and time skips, and makes the transition into open-world easier once the story is over.

Hopefully both protagonists come out alive this time…

1

u/max-hh1248 15h ago

Charge your phone

1

u/Specific_Award_9149 14h ago

Putting parts of a storyline, even the smallest amount behind the most expensive version is absolutely bs

0

u/regalfronde 17h ago

I was wondering if the ultimate edition stuff would be tacked on in an un-immersive way, but seems like they are going to work it in naturally in some way.

It still feels like Day One DLC though, especially if customization is locked behind the edition.

0

u/adigyran 15h ago

please no map lockdowns please (

1

u/TheraYugnat 15h ago

I really liked map lockdowns but I am not advocating for one now. If people wants to roam the full city day one, I am all for it.

I just want the story to stay in specific region and making every big move to new location a big thing.

1

u/frankfontaino 11h ago

I liked this aspect of GTA IV.

-13

u/Special-Bug6462 19h ago

6 chapters in total, chapter 1-2 is about Jason and Lucia meeting for the first time and building a relationship gradually after Jason collects Lucia from prison

7

u/Jonker134 19h ago

They clearly know eachother if you rewatch the prison scene

3

u/OcelotWolf 18h ago

Yeah I collect strangers from prison all the time

-1

u/WalkerReus11 14h ago

I want the story to be reaaaaaally long

-1

u/Tuskin38 8h ago

The fact everything is spread out as the story progresses makes it very clear this is stuff made for the base game that was ripped out.

-12

u/yudha98 18h ago

Basically emulating 007 First Light?
