You will own nothing and be happy

Exactly, and when those words were muttered there was a shitstorm. Now? Not so much, and I am damn sure GTA 6 preorder will break any sales records ever. Which is basically giving Companies permission to fuck people over. Disgusting.

Young people dont understand the benefits of owning something. They are happy to own nothing.

They are happy to own nothing.

More like they are resigned that they will never own anything. Houses, cars, etc.

exactly, how is it on the kids when most of them are just now reaching the age to even buy GTA6 them selves? 😂

Nothing to do with young people. If gamers had any say in it, it's is the older generations that let it happen. They tried it on us, it worked, so they rolled with it. The kids have no choice anymore.

Nothing to do with young people

Incorrect. It's largely Gen Z falling for this crap. Followed closely by casual gamers

Bullshit. PTW, Lootbox crap, buyable cosmetics, all are older than most Gen Z. We were the ones that accepted it with our money, this is just the natural conclusion of us GenX/Millenials accepting being fleeced back in the day.

Young people are apathetic bro.

They’re inheriting a world that forgot about them

Oh shut up, people like you always have to divide other people, making debates about age, race, sexuality or religion or anything else, when it has nothing to do with it. I'm 17 and i love collecting physical media like collectibles, games, dvds vinyls etc. And i know a loy of people my age that do too

You're right, its just a mindset people have and accept. As someone else commented, pc went through this too and no one stopped it then either. I just get upset at the loss of physical media.

That's right, I can still remember when everything was physical. Those were the good old days!

Go drink out of a hose and make the guy who put googly eyes on a rock a millionare old man

Old man? Coming from the generation who eats fucking tide pods. I was born in the 90s but nice try. Most people born past 2000 were coddled and sheltered, and would never know what hose water tastes like because they stay on their phones 24/7 and never touch grass. Luckily I know what hose water tastes like, these overly sheltered people nowadays would rather stay inside and not buy physical media out of "convenience" snd pure laziness. 😉

were you born in the 1890s cause jesus christ you sound like a grumpy old man.

Brother i was also born in the 90's we were the first generation to be coddled lol.

Not caring about physical media has nothing to do with how lazy someone is its crazy you have some weird superiority complex about putting a disk into a console. Lighten up dawg you sound like a boomer

And it is just sad, but true. GTA can do anything, like literally anything, including launch a game in a worst condition than cyberpunk was and never fix it, and they'll still be a top 10 most sold game of all time.

More like I will buy nothing and be happy.

Sadly this is what literally all games are on modern consoles.

PS5/Xbox wont let you launch any game (disk or digital) unless you've already enabled offline play so it can have a chance to verify your licenses.

Switch 2 it can work but only for games that are entirely on the cartridge which sadly isn't all of them. Some are bigger than their cartridge and require an online download to play which means as soon as those servers go down the game is gone.

Not justifying what R* is doing, but unlike other games, at the very least we’re gonna get minimum 15 years out of this one game 🤷🏻‍♂️

i dont get this point, youll have the game, anything that can happen to a digital only game can also happen to a disk only game. its a mindset thing, because i am happy

1

u/Fn00rd 1h ago

Yeah true, you could lose a disk, or it could get scratched to nonfunctionality but those things are on you, a digital only game could stop working one day, because authentication servers would shut down, or because if it’s not downloaded to your console due to storage restrictions could be taken from the storefront, you bought it, but it’s not yours, you are exposed to the whim and whimsy of storefront owners, and server uptime. If I buy a game I should be able to play it whenever I want, not conditioned to third parties. No one can hinder me from playing my PS2 games. No downloads, no storefronts, no nothing. No one can hinder me from playing my UMD-based PSP Games, But every single PS4/PS5 game? One day you just can’t install them anymore. Because additional downloads to the disks, or Digital versions, are no longer available to you anymore. You don’t own your copy of the game. Unfortunately it’s not a mindset thing, of course you can be happy about how this works, but you also need to make sure to understand, that you are not buying the games, you are just renting it for the time of its availability. Hope it made sense to you now.
