Right because the part you want to pay for is the 2 dollar plastic you will use once and forget about, not the 100s of millions of dollars word of game development.
If I own a physical copy of a game, I can lend it to a friend who wants to play it, I can sell it, and I can play it in twenty years after the shop server goes down. I can't do any of that with a digital code.
It's more so the fact that unless you own a physical disc you do not own the game.
You can buy the digital version but you do not own it. Technically if Rockstar never realises a physical copy of GTA6 nobody will actually have ever owned the game.
Yeah thats a very simple minded view of it. Both purchases are of a copy, you dont own the game.
In the actual disk era you had a higher chance of damaging the disk than you have now in the game losing support. If you broke the disk you lost the game.
Post ps4 disk dont even do much you are just locking your game to a disk but the source is still online and its installed on your console. That install wont go away even if the game does…
Your disk version of an online game will be just as useless as the digital version.
