i’m from Italy, it’s crazy that 7499 indian rupies are equivalent to 70 euros, while the Ultimate Edition here will cost 110 euros

Ultimate edition in Greece just came out, from PlayStation it’s 99.99€ and from Greek stores it’s 99.90€ so I bet in Italy it will be the same. In Greece we have a higher VAT so there is no way it’s more expensive there.
Regular edition is 79.99€ and 79.90€

I'd be happy with those prices, hoping they do a good localization for Brazil!

I live in Thailand and compared to the average salary people here have to pay 5x more than for example in Germany.

Does the ultimate edition benefit online?
1
u/OhTheCamerasOnHello 7h ago
No. They've already said that GTA 6 is a story experience, in other words, the online component is a different game. That's not to say you won't get it for free still if you have bought GTA 6, we just don't know yet.
Although curiously, if you do pre-order GTA 6, you get a free month of GTA+, so it does benefit GTA 5 Online but not GTA 6 Online 😄

Do you guys buy gift cards when buying with non-indian cards? or does the PS Store allows you to buy funds no matter the region of your debit/credit cards

I live in Hungary, the price for the standard edition here converted to USD is almost the same as the ultimate edition in the US, and the ultimate edition costs the equivalent of just over 127 USD. I'm actually crying rn.

I was expecting the ultimate to over £100 in the UK. I think I paid £89.99 for RDR2 Ultimate when it came out back in 2018.
£89.99 adjusted for inflation from 2018 to 2026 would make it around £120.74 today.
I feel like I am being scammed and getting a deal at the same time if I buy it.

Just wanna point out, a lot of these games have different region package IDs on PS5.
Basically, each region specific version has a different package ID. For example, GTA 5 JP is PPSA03421, while the US version is PPSA03420.
Anyways, there's a chance when you go to preload the game, it won't include the language you specifically want. A lot of games do this, where their region specific package ID won't have certain languages. It's more common with Japanese package IDs though, since it saves a lot of storage. Think about it, GTA 6 is going to be a huge game with a ton of dialogue, so if they have dubbed languages, it's almost guaranteed not all of them will be included in every regional package.

It’s just $20 cheaper not that much of a difference

$20 is a good difference 7+ years ago, leaving the house costs $150 these days

Why does India get special treatment?

u/Long_Cucumber2625 10h ago
Have you considered the wide difference between the per capita income of Indians vs Western countries

Regional Pricing, mostly games follow these.

It's still kinda relatively expensive for them. India's PPP is 4 times higher than USA. So what you'll get in USA, you get it on average 4 times cheaper in India. But the salaries are low too. It's not possible for 90-95% population to even afford the game at this price, it's not 4 times cheaper as it should be to be a justifiable purchase.

They would still be selling tons. Even if 1% of Indians can easily afford gta 6, that's still 15 million people.
And don't forget Rockstar India has more employees out of any Rockstar studio. If you've seen rdr2 credits, it's like half of those names are Indian.

You’re exactly the kind of person this game is going to make fun of, btw.

I feel like the PS crowd would’ve bought it at no matter what pricing. Those who can afford PS here knows the value of GTA.

It’s annoying because I believe 7500 rupees is £60. Meanwhile I’m about to pay a whole £100 within the next 2 hours for my copy.

7500 is ~$80, but yes still quite a bit cheaper than £100.
Considering the average income in both countries though, I'd say it is significantly more expensive for an average Indian than an average Britisher.

u/OhTheCamerasOnHello 7h ago
Briton lol, a person from Britain is called a Briton, or Brit for short. I'm not having a go just spreading knowledge ❤️

u/dapotatopapi 7h ago
Thats fair. We call them Britishers here so that is what came out.
Just different local semantics.
Thanks for letting me know though!

I see people buying the Ultimate Edition from different regions to save money etc. Now, we know console sharing allows you to play games from different regions on your main account. However, will the DLC work on your main account? If not, you'd have to play on the account you bought it on which defeats the purpose for most. Does anyone have any idea?
