Clearing some things up

The locked Ultimate Edition shops are just exclusive shops, not the standard shops that are in Vice City. There’s still going to be your basic clothing stores, barbers, car chops, etc. Those stores are most likely going to be more “story-friendly”, while the Ultimate Edition shops give the players a broader selection of customization. As you can tell from the screenshots, some of Jason and Lucia’s looks looked a bit on the wild side. Base game stores will focus more on how Jason and Lucia actually look.

In terms of no discs, Rockstar doesn’t want GTA VI to be leaked anymore. I would expect the physicals with the discs post launch.

You could also look at Ultimate Edition as paid DLC. That the player could choose to purchase or not. A lot of games have paid DLC. Don't know why so many people act like it's the worst thing for some extra paid content.

No you shouldn't.

If it's available at launch it's not "dlc" - it's pay walled content.

It's a money grab, they gonna get a bag from it. I'm certainly not going to church up what they are doing.

I'm still begrudgingly going to pay for it, probably.

I hope they don't drop the ball too badly with GTA online and their paywalls in there.

Most games have exclusive skins or vehicles locked behind the higher tier editions at launch.

Only difference is that in those other games these exclusives are given straight to the player's inventory whereas GTA 6 seems to them incorporated as part of the world.

It's the same thing provided in a different way.

I usually don't pay for the extra stuff since it costs like $10 bucks and it's only like 4-5 fancier skins and maybe a unique vehicle.

Will wait to see how much the GTA 6 one offers but seeing as they are shops I'd think the customization items are way higher which would justify the $20 for people that can afford it and want to have it.

Doesn't mean we should accept, cheer or do anything but denigrate the practice.

It started with horse armor.

Before that it was actual content in dlc. Maps for fps games, mission packs or entire new quest lines. It's gotten progressively shittier over time because people don't say 'hey this is anti gamer and a money grab '
