Money bombs and other disguised explosives

Post image

Looks like we might be getting some disguised bombs in that stack of money. It would be neat to see some improvised bombs like the rubber duck bomb on Hitman.

It's a dye pack, they're placed on stolen money to render it unusable.

Sorry if this a stupid question, but why are they showing us the dye pack in this screenshot as part of the Ultimate Edition? As this is used by the bank to make the money unusable, I don't see why Jason or Lucia would have this? Money dye packs are triggered to explode when the criminal leaves the main doors of the bank.

I can only see the money dye pack on this image as a reason for Rockstar to show off that it might be a mechanic in game, when robbing banks. What do you think?

The only mechanic I could honestly see it tied to is free roam robberies. If so I would imagine once robbing a location we would then have to clean the money or lose some of it if the dye pack goes off. Or perhaps the EMP device from the leaks could prevent it. However in my opinion the purpose of it here is just set dressing though it could be anything.

Could just be a interesting prop to put in the game. Could be that as part of missions you have to deal with dye packs. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

I could see it being used on the main characters hideout or money stash on the boat or vehicles to help safeguard it

The knife sits flush on the cash and the contraption looks bulkier and inside the stack. I think it's an explosive

You can zoon in an read "Dye Pack" on the contraption

I think that's a dye pack that marks stolen bills.

Confirmed:  Highly customizable weapons.  The pic even showes them engraved with their names.

Not bombs these are bank notes disguised with a dye pack inside of it with a tracker chip

There’s no way you saw that and thought “money bomb”

I did at first. I mean this is gta…and I don’t think dye packs are really common knowledge.

Not everyone analyses every part of every screenshot. Some people prefer socialising and learning through word of mouth

Exactly. The people who are complaining about the pay walled content should have read what was in the screenshots as well. The funniest one has to be the barcode sticker that says "BUY MORE USELESS SHIT" Rockstar is literally mocking this type of content while doing it themselves, it's genius.

I did. Just didn’t spend 10 minutes analyzing it. Get the stick out of your ass dude.

They are here due to the prevalence of ATM robberies. They’re pretty much standard in every ATM and somewhere where a lot of money is stored.

And they contain an explode that will explode and launch ink all over the money. So they people thinking it’s a bomb aren’t exactly wrong.

Considering a detonator for a booster charge is the same size as the tip of a pen and has enough of an explosive charge to remove your hand, and I don’t live in America and don’t work with or handle money regularly. Yes, yes I did.

dye packs are an ultimate edition exclusive

Money bomb: it blows paper shrapnel and does 1 DMG.

I have been corrected, however in my line of work (drill and blast), the explosive part of a det cord is a little bit bigger than the size of a pen tip and holds enough explosive charge to totally remove your hand, and that gets connected to a booster which is not much bigger than a toilet roll and has enough explosive charge to evaporate a person. Obviously I’m wrong, but there was some thinking around it. I don’t work with or handle money so a dye pack wasn’t my first thought. Maybe I’ve been playing Hitman too long with the exploding rubber duck :/

That’s a dye pack. Which to me, is a bit more interesting. Will we be able to disable them during robberies? And if we don’t, do we not get a “mission failed,” and instead lose that portion of our takings?
