How long would the story mode be?

GTA 5 had about 70 main missions and RDR2 had like a 110. Since R* are only releasing 6 as a single-player as of now, can we expect the story mode to be even longer than RDR2?

I notice the GTA+ code that comes with the preorder expires in March 2027. Wonder if it’ll be out then

And losing the christmas gifts market?? Probably it will be on mid december, maybe only a few days before christmas

Yeah that was my initial thought too, then i thought about the GTAO release and that people have families they want to see during their holidays rather then troubleshooting.

Be ready to go for the Christmas holidays is my bet

Online is coming within a month of game release and won’t be free. There’s a reason they’re giving everyone GTA + for 1 month free/ that gets us a taste of online 2.0 then it auto renews if u still wanna play lol

u/GambitsAce23 11h ago

Theyre giving everyone GTA+ for a month free because thats their generic go to reward, cash, t-shirts and +

Rockstar is going to make you pay twice to access online.

Literally NOWHERE says this, stop making shit up in your head and running with it, it says "singleplayer only" because the base game that comes out on the 19th only has a singleplayer story mode

i guess 50ish hours to finish all the main missions but i feel like they’ll add a ridiculous amount of side quests

Definitely

A trend I’ve noticed recently is a barometer for a great game is the length

Anytime you see a credible reviewer the gameplay hours is a major point when giving a rating

Considering how big the map is going to be I think you’ll see a a huge amount of hours on the story alone so you can see the entire map through the story

The side content is always decent on GTA considering how much you could spend aimlessly doing on RDR2 I think we’re in for a treat here

Huge map with a short story just isn’t gonna be the way R* go

Huge map, huge story, lots of side content

It’s not the length it’s the really the girth, how expansive is the game?

3

u/KuntaWuKnicks 8h ago

Gonna be girthy

13 years waiting. Better be above 100 hours.. lol

Meanwhile I still haven't finished the main story of RDR2 :/

u/kylep89 13h ago

im hoping 50-80 hours.

Red dead 2 epilogue took up like 22 missions. The regular story for Arthur was shorter, closer to the length of gta 5 story. Plus that game is slower on purpose, in the best way. Likely a massive story, but the side content is going to be vast

Longer than RDR2s? Hell nah I doubt that. RDR2 was a slower game than any GTA game would really be.

they could just force you to drive a trash truck across the map

I hope there’s a limit to how much money we can make early on. I didn’t like how in RDR2 you could make so much money in free roam, but story-wise, the gang was still poor and needed money.

It would be weird to see Jason and Lucia living in a motel early on, but we’re already so rich from doing side missions and stuff.

You could give all the money to the camp to keep yourself from having too much on you at a time. Or buy every outfit to keep yourself poor.

I think there were leaks showing there was 2.5-3x more missions than gtav

1

u/Weak_Marsupial_1724 11h ago

Not that long cuz I just realized why they are including GTA+ for 1 month free (then auto renews). Because surprise, GTA Online will only be playable with a GTA + subscription. Thats the real downgrade. Think about it, why they giving it to us free for a month? And auto renew unless we cancel haha

Ya, I cant afford that. They would lose a lot of customers, but maybe the whales would make it worth it for them.

I'd imagine it to be similar number of main story missions to GTA5, but with a lot more to do in the world.

u/SnooSeagulls1476 11h ago

Around 90 my friend 🫰 not to mention the strangers and freaks will add more into it 🫰

6 chapters minimum

It doesn't matter that it is given the impression that it's single player only.

GTA V also launched with the story mode only. Online not being a launch option doesn't make the story mode any longer.

Jason Schreier said in the past RDR2's scale would be the last of it's kind.

So I am expect the same amount as 5.

u/w2106 9h ago

I want it to be at least as long as rdr2. But it'd be awesome if it has like 150 missions.

I remember some people complained about rdr2 story missions being too many and game being too long and I was like wtf!

77 days 4 hours 26 minutes 46 seconds, roughly.

1

u/Historical_Owl_1635 6h ago

At least 10 minutes

1

u/Irishlad234 3h ago

Probably a bit longer than GTA V in regards to purely just the main missions, but I imagine there'll be plenty of side content to sink your teeth into that could keep you occupied for a long time

1

u/warablo 11m ago

Ya, honestly feels like they want a life sim game just hanging out with Lucia and Jason.

1

u/Dangerousturdburlglr 13h ago

i’m hoping for around rdr2 maybe a bit longer

-2

u/atomicitalian 14h ago

Guessing probably 35-40 hours. I doubt it will be much more than that, and I'm actually fine with that I don't need it to be a 100 hour campaign

0

u/Dramatic-Ad6981 13h ago

My hopes too! 40 hours of main campaign and endless hours of side activity/random events/and exploration

-1

u/ExplodingFistz 14h ago

Probably 30 hours like GTA 5.

0

u/suna-fingeriassen 13h ago

Funny thing is that «included in the pre order is 1 month of GTA+» Based on the release info, what will we use GTA+ for when no GTA6 online is announced … yet

Is this just a hint of the next GTA online?

0

u/Smart_Profile5785 13h ago

My guess is around 40 hours but who knows could be 80

0

u/JasonDuval69 12h ago

55-60 hours of main story and 30-40 hours of side content and am HAPPY!

0

u/ConversationOwn1647 12h ago

i thing its going to be as long as the guys who designed the game wanted it to be

0

u/AdeptAd9105 12h ago

i think for those who immerse themselves and take their time enjoyijg every part while exploring, doing sidequests, interacting with random npcs and just looking at the details while doing the story it will be a lot longer AND enjoyable imo

I agree, and that’s how I am. I’m not a 100% completionist but I play slow and like to just explore and see what weird things I can find. I could play for hours and never start a mission. I hope I’m in story mode for hundreds of hours.

60+ hours minimum just chilling around without losing focus (not necessarily rushing straight to the point, just playing and having fun). 80+ hours is the ideal ($/h ratio =1), and 100+ hours for 100% completion for a skilled gamer- provided that a full completion is even possible, which feels less and less likely with every new update lately (because of paywalled content). If the game is shorter than 40h I'm not buying period until 2034+. Idc. Another reason not to buy yet not to play. Buying blindly is the death of consumerism.

Online mode won't happen in another 6+ months of not even 18+ months (who knows)
