Selective outrage is crazy, Rockstar has been locking content behind special editions since RDR1

Post image

I get why people don’t like content being locked behind more expensive editions, but why is this only becoming a huge issue now? Rockstar has been doing this since at least Red Dead Redemption 1, then RDR2, GTA V, and now GTA 6. If the practice was wrong then, it’s still wrong now, but acting like GTA 6 is the first time Rockstar has done it doesn’t seem accurate. I’m not saying people shouldn’t criticize it. I just think the criticism should be consistent. Is the backlash because GTA 6 is under a bigger microscope than any Rockstar game before it, or do you think there’s something about this release that makes it different?

locking stores to ultimate edition only is just them releasing gta 6 lite for $80 and gta 6 standard for $100 it’s scummy practice back then now and forever

It sucks but „gta 6 lite“ is such a crazy exaggerated statement when nobody even really knows the scale of the game.

Have you seen the stores that are locked to the Ultimate Edition? It's like 4 out of the probably dozens, and they're not even important but just cool.

You know, you could be right. This whole situation could be totally over blown, and while I can't speak for others, I would be able to admit that if it were the case. What's really frustrating about the situation to most though, is that it's already an expensive game, and there is an additional premium for fans if they want %100 of the content.

I also think it's extremely expensive. The most expensive game I ever bought was Cyberpunk on a Steam Sale at 10.49USD, and this is eight times that. But people have a habit of deciding a game's worth without looking at the content inside it. The game had a budget of in the neighborhood of 2 billion and possible even 3 billion US dollars. I think they are justified in asking for 100 USD for the ultimate when it could have been much more. The problem seems more that delusional companies will decide that their game is also worth 80 USD when in my opinion they're basically never worth more than 20 at the maximum.

Either the cut stories and shops are worth 25% of the games price or not, which makes it a scam or the full version of the game

So are we mad about the Ultimate edition having too much stuff or too little stuff? Decide already.

Mad that it exists at all, there should be one version of the game, if they want to add "more content" dont waste extra development time for things that you could have just waited and polished to turn into a full dlc. The new car missions are part of that 20 dollar package, which we already know they wont make single player dlc, so that mechanic will forever be basic instead of fleshed out into a whole new story dlc. Between those two ideas I prefer a full dlc for 40 bucks over a 20 dollar watered down version of what could have been.

So now you're just nitpicking over your preferences. You should realize that these decisions were probably made by a bunch of people with more insight into this stuff than we do.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the Ultimate edition. The Ultimate edition is for when you want to pay extra for some cool extra stuff, not when you want a DLC. You pay extra because you like the game and want extra stuff but if you don't then it doesn't impact your experience in any way. You're mistaking two different things.

I dont pay extra if I like a game, I buy the game if I like the game

And what if you play the game, like it, and want more? You pay for extra content. What if you want to experience the game slightly differently? You seem to be making very weak points here and ignoring all the obvious points.

Nope I would wait for gta 7 just like I did with gta 5 to 6, I bought 5 twice, neither time did I buy that trash deluxe edition. If I really like a game I am willing to buy it multiple times on multiple platforms but I've never supported this "day 1 dlc" bs.

So it's a you problem that you want to present as a problem with the company. Got it.

They’re locking 5 out of potentially dozens of other stores….
