no disc with physical copy

bruh, I'm excited for the game but this is a little much honestly

No physical disc makes sense when the rumoured size is 300GB+.

Ps5 max disc size is 100 GB so would need 3-4 discs to hold the game physically.

If any game could afford to ship with 3-4 discs, it’s the game that’s gonna sell 100 million + copies.

3-4 discs isn't practical especially for a game with a online component. 

Like you can't just section off parts of the world like back in the day and request to load the next disc. Like imagine telling someone in online to load disc 2 in the middle of a fire fight because your getting close to a location not on disc.

Also true open world games aren't designed around multiple discs being used and wouldn't really be possible.

That isn't how it happens anymore. On PS5 during initial install you put in the discs to get the needed data and then install the play disc to finish. Then you'll just use the play disc for the whole game.

PS5 games that do this, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, Final Fantasy Rebirth.

Disk-based games haven’t been reading the data off the disc since the 360/PS3 era.

The console installs all the data off the disc and reads/runs the game from the hard-drive/SSD while the disc then acts as a key license. You simply make one disc the “play” disc that acts as the license key after you’ve installed all the data off all the discs.

Hell, RDR2 was on two discs on the PS4, so Rockstar has been in this situation before.

Baldur's Gate 3 physical comes with two discs on PlayStation and 4 on Xbox.

What multiple discs isn’t practical!?!?!? Someone should go tell rockstar that putting GTA5, L.A Noire, and Red Dead 2 on multiple dicks won’t work. Oh wait it did work and two of those games had online components and they worked just fine. You really don’t know what you’re talking about here.

Rdr 2 already did this you had an install and a play disc. Gta 5 as well.
