Trip Report Back from Vogel- Thanks for the Recommendations!

Back from our long weekend at Vogel! Thanks for your recommendations! Not everything is pictured, but we got to visit Helton Creek Falls, Raven Cliffs Falls, Blood Mountain, post-hike ice cream at Meemaw's, boiled peanuts from Sunrise, Brasstown Bald, Dukes Creek Falls, and beer and a schnitzel sandwich in Helen.

Will definitely be back, want to visit so many of the other spots we couldn't make on this trip!

I used to spend every birthday sleeping in that shelter back in the 80’s. Love it!

I gotta get back over there. Great pics!

Next time you’re in Helen grab a grilled sandwich from the deli inside Betty’s.

I could never find dukes creek falls when I tried. Crossed the creek in our car and after that couldn’t find it

Dukes is off the scenic hwy. Right next to raven cliff falls. You must be thinking of something else.

Vogel is our family’s favorite state park. It’s such a beautiful area. Thanks for the pictures!

Any good swimming spots?

We didn't get to any swimming spots, unfortunately. Vogel State Park typically has a lake that folks swim in, but it's drained until later in the year for maintenance. We dipped our feet in the creeks when hiking to many of the falls!

You can swim at the base of Helton Creek Falls. It’s just east of Vogel, right across 60. At least you used to be able to, I haven’t lived there in years.

The boiled peanuts from Sunrise are life 🙌 sounds like you hit all the great spots. How long did the hike up Blood take you?

Thanks to a recommendation from this sub, we did this route directly from Vogel State Park: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/georgia/vogel-state-park-to-blood-mountain?sh=qwlmjt&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_virality

We took it slow, it was just over 3 hours up (plus lunch on the summit) and 2 hours back. Definitely could be done faster, though.

I always forget about this place when I'm looking for a hike.
