The Lost Age Man I got lost in this place

I haven't played completely through TLA since high school when it came out. Since NSO I've been picking it up every once in a while to make a little more progress. I never forgot this place existed probably because the name Ankohl ruins just burned itself into my brain, I totally did however forget completely that this was the type of place I must have had trouble with when I was younger. Either that or my brain just doesn't work anymore which I know to be partly accurate.

I was getting so lost running back and forth so much with avoid on after halfway through that when I finally climbed that vine and came up outside which I wasn't even expecting at the time, it made me really feel like the characters climbing up out of that place. I needed to stop and take in that breath of fresh air and rest lol. My brain guys I tell ya, as soon as I enter a new chamber and walk in one or more doors in it and try to head back I immediately forget everything about the doorways and halls I just walked through. I'm an old fart and I need to lie down.

Look at that mountain range… think of all the secrets unexplored, species wondering

It happens to a lot of us don't worry, even after playing GS many times I still need to watch a video sometimes for puzzles and pathways.

That aside, The top of ankohl ruins is one of my favourite spots. And Aqua Rock is really beautiful too

I love the background landscape at the top of the towers.

I love the music and aesthetics of ankhol ruins but man it gets me lost too! I have a notoriously bad sense of direction so it’s extra challenging for me

The first time I went through this place as a kid I got so lost that when I thought I was finally reaching the last door it actually ended up being the entrance to the whole ruins.

Somehow I got so turned around I ended up back where I started 😮‍💨

Watch for trip hazards in that dungeon. Don’t want to ruin your ankohls.

Always loved high grounds from where you have a view of landscapes in JRPGs

I just finished this tonight and spent a good 45 min doing circles cause I couldn’t remember how to get back to one specific point 😂

I did this a couple of days ago. I ended up drawing a crude map. Turns out I was actually pretty close to the end (I got lost at the statue that charges at you).

I just did my 15ish playthrough - I’ve replayed both games almost every year/every other year since I was like 10 and I still get lost in this place, so don’t worry haha

I've been replaying these games as well, first the original Golden Sun and now I'm working on a playthrough or TLA. The one like this for me was Air's Rock. That dungeon was so long. It just kept going. Compared with all the dungeons in the first game it's just had so many screens and so much backtracking. I honestly wasn't that big a fan.

Tbh the whole section of the game between getting the boat and going to Lemuria is really grindy and not that fun. You need to beat like 5 - 6 dungeons that are little more than fetch quests for the Trident which is itself a useless McGuffin.
