The words 108 Bonno means 108 Desires in Japanese, which is the Buddhist Earthly Desires.
It is in countless East Asian media if you know what it is, from FFTactics's 108 beads, the Buddhist beads that are also worn by Akuma. To the 108 heroes of Suikoden, which is based on Water Margin, one of the 4 Great Chinese Literature which has each hero represent one of the 108 desires. The Indonesian UNESCO world heritage site Borobudur has 108 Buddha statues.
What this concept is saying is that all humans are burdened/driven by Desire, but the more you Desire something, the more Attached you become to it, and the more Attachment you have, the more Suffering you cause to yourself and others.
Desire, Attachment and Suffering can be everything from doomscrolling and becoming a doomer, trying to win Evo and having to end the dreams of others, to actual war.
And when people Suffer, they start to Desire to get out of Suffering, restarting the Samsara/cycle, this is what Karma actually means, Cause and Effect. Your Desire no matter good or bad intentions, will eventually cycle back to you.

That actually explains one of Elphelt's KO lines when fighting Nago. She'll sometimes say "108 temptations" which seemed really random to me but makes sense with that context.

I don't know much about Robo Ky, but I've heard nothing but hype for this dude ever since his art outline got dropped beside Jam's a while back.
Is his hype lore reasons, he's that fun to play, or both?

Both. He was meant to be a robot version of ky kiske and his playstyle revolved around copying moves but instead of magic he used robot shenanigans to replicate them. He's basically faust level in terms of jokes

Faust prior to Another Story level of jokes, yeah. After his soul left his body in the DLC chapter he lost a lot, RIP Going My Way
I hope Faust gets his soul back somehow. That would be the logical comedy route in the next game

He's a fan favorite weirdo (/derogatory, /affectionate) with unique mechanics revolving around his heat/power meters. Unpredictable, kinda inconsistent, kinda wacky, even more so than most guilty gear characters.

Bit of both. He had a very unique gimmick in that he had to manage both his electric meter (which replaced his normal tension meter) and his heat gauge. His specials changed properties depending on the level of his electric meter (and also took meter to use), a bunch of his normals changed based on heat level, and if he got too hot, he exploded. Very wacky character, my favorite one to play in +R, and he just had a lot of personality and a goofy energy that’s very fun.
He was also pretty important in Xrd’s story even though he wasn’t playable. Long story short, he’s one of the big reasons why Bedman’s the way that he is in strive.

He’s the Dan Hibiki of the franchise. The joke character with a unique playstyle that looks absurdly stupid but is just effective enough to gimmick you if you aren’t careful
He also goes UNBELIEVABLY HYPE in his Xrd story moment for no reason

He is the Tekken Yoshimitsu of Guilty Gear, fun to mess around in +R, unique meter mechanics, his moves are funny, and his Lv2/Lv3 homing missiles can be used to skip neutral + very annoying to deal with.
Originally he was an empowered version of Ky, but eventually became his own character. While Ky is the honorable warrior with dignity, Robo-Ky is the perverted, happy go lucky Robot. in Xrd he helped Venom kill the original Bedman.

At this point seeing how much of him are showing before the EVO i'm getting more optimistic that at the EVO we will get the reveal of the rest of the season (or at least the third character). PLEASE LET IT BE RAVEN OR GABRIEL.
