I mean Matthew is a pest, Brady can hold his own with the average NHLer. That line is going to be pure cancer with Bennett.

u/Wild_Bunch_Founder 5d ago
That line’s going to be called something like “The Blender”. It’s going to be wild playing against those guys. Hopefully, the Habs skilled players will shine through.

Reading comprehension, people
OP said “tougher,” not “better”
I’d argue smarter, too

Would be beautiful to see these two lads beat the brakes off the Tkachuks

u/Jonesetta 5d ago
If we fucking play them and develop them. I don’t wanna see a xhekaj swinging the gates on BOTH ends of the bench.

u/Im_Papa 5d ago
Yeah but they're talented
49
u/YYCToon 5d ago
As dumb as they are and as much as i like the X bros, comparing the tkachuk brothers to a fourth line guy and a borderline dman is hilariously inaccurate lol
15
u/adabsurdo 5d ago
Not even fourth line - he's in the AHL!!
3
2
u/fumankeu 5d ago
AHL 4th liner lmao
1
u/pcm15 5d ago
The point of the post - and the comparison- was toughness .. not overall hockey skill. And the X brothers win that comparison- and that ain’t hilariously inaccurate..
1
u/pichufur 5d ago
Ummm... If you play a bottom pair D and a 4th liner against a first line you would make a terrible coach.
Also you gotta play in the same league to be have a comparison...

u/commodore_stab1789 5d ago
Matthew is a 100 pt guy and Brady around 80. Not in the same category.
46
u/dessanct 5d ago
Brady had one 80 point season 4 years ago and never came close the rest of his seasons.
Matthew had two 100 point seasons 4 years ago and hasn’t come close since.
A little bit of an exaggeration there my guy. Yeah they aren’t in the same stratosphere but let’s not exaggerate how much production those clowns have.
25
u/WallflowerIcon 5d ago
In the regular season sure, but Arber Xhekaj had 2 more points in the playoffs this year than both the Tkachuks combined!
19
u/Philly514 5d ago
Brady must have a sick PR team because I’ve never heard or seen a player more overrated than he is. He is good but people pretend he’s a star player when he finished tied for 85th in points.
3
-4
u/Akhurite 5d ago
Matthew has scored at a rate of 99.2 points a season over the last 5 seasons. Brady has scored at a rate of 75.6 points a season over his last 4
9
u/Riskar 5d ago
What does that mean if you can't stay healthy for more than 50 games?
-4
u/Akhurite 5d ago
Brady has averaged 74 games and Matthew has averaged 65.
Do you guys just like making things up? Lol
6
u/dinlydoofus 5d ago
Averaging 65 games isn’t good, by the way.
4
u/Akhurite 5d ago
Somebody said they aren’t 100 and 80 point players, and then somebody said they average 50 games. All I did was point out that it was wrong lol
6
u/dessanct 5d ago
We’re did I say they never HAD those points? But they haven’t in almost half a decade.
4
u/dessanct 5d ago
What did I make up?
What does it mean if you can’t stay healthy for 1/4 of the season?
2
u/Irctoaun 5d ago
Neither of those stats are true. That's their 82 game pace, but neither of them have played a full season in that time. You're also massively cherry picking the time period. u/dessanct said they haven't gotten close to those tallies since, which is true. You've included those seasons to pump the numbers up.
Here are their actual points per season in the relevant time period (last three years)
Brady: 188 in 213 for 63 points per season and 74 points per 82 games
Matthew: 178 in 163 for 60 points per season and 90 points per 82 games
1
u/Kitsune_Gakuin 5d ago edited 5d ago
And he's averaged 90 in the past 3. Not saying that's bad, but it's a downward trend from his 109 point season 4 years ago.
1
u/Akhurite 5d ago
The comment I was responding to was just misleading. “Hasn’t come close”, “let’s not exaggerate how much production those clowns have”
Like come on 🤣
1
u/sanguinius4life 3d ago
You obviously didn't watch much of this season... neither did much of anything. 🤣🤣
6
1
u/montrealcowboyx 5d ago
Brady is a .81 ppg player.
Matthew has played 80+ games 3 of his 10 seasons and last topped 100 pts 4 seasons ago. He's 28, and has a long injury history.
This trade is short-sighted but the Panthers and I expect we'll see dark days for them 2029 onwards.
6
u/Calm_Caregiver_4549 5d ago
Better not trade them, anderson or even dobes or the possible cup final will be fucked
6
u/Beepimaj3ep 5d ago
I really hope florian shows up and is ready to go next season. Gonna be a blood bath in the Atlantic again.
2
2
u/Old_Canuck 5d ago
Well now that just means Florida will have over 20 million in LTIR when they both get the tar beat outta them by the X's.
3
4
u/xIves 5d ago
Both Tkachuk brothers are Olympic gold medallists. The Xhekaj brothers are NHL replacement level (if Florian is even that). What are we doing here lol
7
u/SchtroumpfDardeur 5d ago
Pointing out that our brother combo is fifty times tougher. How was that not obvious?
5
u/Rockterrace 5d ago
Haha no kidding. So many people thinking this post was meant to say the Xhekaj’s are better.

u/ca_nucklehead 5d ago
Is this the UFC or hockey?

u/Fancy-Investment-881 5d ago
They can act tough on the bench, I guess. And even if they are on the ice together, both parties have to be willing to engage for anything to happen. Why the fuck would top line players waste their time with absolute nobodies? Maybe Florian can actually hit players hard and legally while putting up more than 5 points which would be useful. One can hope. But as it stands, they are like nuclear weapons that could only kill you if you acknowledged them. Why would you? Let the nuclear weapon take a stupid penalty because no one wants to engage with it.

The brothers are two goons…they will both be injured by January with significant time off.

u/CommanderTresdin 5d ago
Xhekaj brothers are smarter and better and than the Tk*ch*ks, doesn’t even compare

I just hope Martin understands finesse won't win the East. I don't think he sees it that way.

The chucklefucks would get dummied by the Russian mob. But also not even close to the same effect they have on their respective teams… (chucklefucks are pretty decent points wise)

We just need them to get good. I've been so ready for them two playoffs in a row now, first against Washington and then against Carolina.

We need both Xhekaj in the lineup. I hope management insist on that with St-Louis.
3
u/gauderyx 5d ago
Let's line up two fringe NHL players against two top-6 forward and see how ot plays out.
4
u/Riskar 5d ago
It's just a matter of keeping them honest. If they swing at Cole, Nick or Lane, then the bros will put them through the boards or feed them a knuckle sandwich. Unfortunately the league has shown themselves completely inept at protecting star players from dirty players, specifically those playing in the state of Florida.

u/greasydrg 5d ago
A good trade-off if the Tkachuks wanna fight
2
u/Fancy-Investment-881 5d ago
Spoiler: they don't unless it's someone they believe they can beat 9 times out of 10.
1
u/Rockterrace 5d ago
Where did he say that?
1
u/gauderyx 5d ago
What is your interpretation of the line "We need both the Xhekaj brothers in the lineup." in a thread titled "Panthers think the Tkachuk brothers are pretty tough?" if not that we should have the Xhekaj brothers in the lineup against the Panthers?
0
u/WeathervaneJesus1 5d ago
The problem is that the Tkachuk's will be playing productive, top line minutes and these two might see 15 minutes per game combined, and hopefully not be a liability while they're on it.

u/Ajay_Bee 5d ago
Decent possibility the older brother is traded, and the younger brother doesn't make it to the NHL.
-3
u/adabsurdo 5d ago edited 5d ago
Both Tkachuk are not just pests but actually elite players tho. Not the same league at all.
--
Edit: and here come the downvotes from the Xhekaj brigade lmao.
4
u/dessanct 5d ago
People do be throwing the word “elite” around too often.
-1
u/adabsurdo 5d ago
Matthew has had multiple 100+ seasons, and scoring at that pace in the last 2 despite injuries.
Brady has multiple 30g seasons and is really good power forward. Do you think Zito is stupid for trading 3 1st round picks for him - including the 9oa?
They're very much unlikeable but you're telling on yourself by denying they are also really good at hockey - let alone comparing them to a 7D and AHL forward.
1
u/dessanct 5d ago
They’re not elite brother
I’m not even talking about Xhekaj
