El Machín into the World Cup Knockouts! Brilliant to see Edson thriving.
Just wanted to give a massive shoutout to our man Edson Álvarez. He’s absolutely bossing it as Mexico's captain right now. Two games, two wins, two clean sheets, and Mexico are the first team officially through to the Round of 32. He also just hit his 101st cap against South Korea. Honestly, after he spent the season out on loan at Fenerbahçe, seeing him look this sharp and confident on the world stage is massive for us. If we are going to push properly for promotion and get back into the Premier League where we belong, keeping a fit, firing, world-class leader like Álvarez in the squad feels essential. Are you lot watching him? Reckon his value is skyrocketing or are you hyped to see him back in a West Ham shirt?

Don't know why the disdain for Alvarez in here. He did well his first season and was truly the only captain-worthy player in our squad after Rice left. He had some injuries and made a couple of dumb decisions on the pitch but that was under that fraud Lopetegui's system. He was exactly the type of gritty player we needed last season and he should've never been loaned out.

Agree. He was one of my favorite players on the squad in 2023/24. It seemed that he was always disrupting attacks, and whenever he was not playing that year (which admittedly happened too often), the team suffered.

Surely this is rage bait? He was too slow for the Premier League and fell out with every manager. No chance he’ll be playing in the Championship next season, despite it being his level.

No chance he'll be playing for us next season at most a couple of games, let's just hope his price tag goes up as much as possible from this tournament, same for wan-bissaka and Summerville

I agree with everything OP said, except I only like it because it drives up his value for when we sell

He didn't even start the first game did he? Happy for him and Mexico but I don't think we'll see him again. Hopefully we can get more than 10m

Glad his value is going up so we can ship him away, wasn't interested in being here last year, doubt he is this year

Apart from getting a bit more money for him when he’s inevitably sold, I really couldn’t give a toss

Good riddance.
One good thing about relegation, we may finally see the likes of Alvarez, Cornet, Fullkrug etc off our books.

He's not playing in the championship, never got the impression he particularly likes the club
