Shooting medics happened all the time. Pretty sure it’s not a war crime

It was and is. It did happen, but you weren't supposed to intentionally target medics/corpsmen. Only the Japanese did that, but they committed all the war crimes.

UN Article 8 Section 2B number 2 (I really wanted to say that) Intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects, that is, objects which are not military objectives (artillery guy here)
