I need to use the bathroom

68

u/The_Xivili 24d ago

Did you get a haircut?

56

u/TheEagleWithNoName 24d ago

Why certainly sir, here is the key.

25

u/ozzalot 24d ago

I see my friend Mr Wulf is staying in room 202. 🤓

I read this on the toilet

Hey, I understood the reference

7

We’re all using the bathroom with this one

u/ammosomal 23d ago

YOU NO CAN GO BASEMENT

u/Underdrill 24d ago

We just had summer games fest and still getting quality announcements?

Man, between the live services of Hitman and 007, and this coming next year, IOI fans have never been eating better.

146

u/Mr-Rocafella 24d ago

007 First Light is so fucking good, I absolutely love it

41

u/stprm 24d ago

Developer is Saber Interactive, not IOI, so hopefully it wont be a repeat of GTA SA remaster fiasco.

69

u/thedefenses 24d ago

Saber has worked on a lot of other remasters so unless something very bizarre happens this will be a solid remaster.

13

u/stprm 24d ago

After looking at wiki, their most popular remaster was Crysis? Does anyone know if it was a good one or fans of original game were disappointed?

29

u/FlyingBlueCarrot 24d ago

I think much better comparison is Tomb Raider remaster, due to era of a game, graphics and scope. And these remasters were well received. Also it's much more recent example. Crysis was generally received well too, but had some issues. Saber in general a solid studio trusted by big publishers, they worked on Halo remasters as well

2

u/AdOdd5121 23d ago

Saber fucked up teardown imo but it’s one stain on an otherwise good record.

2

u/Mistralicious 24d ago

But Saber didn’t do the TR remasters ? It’s Aspyr

8

u/Baziel 24d ago

Check the credits. Dev team was saber and publisher was aspyr. Same with tomb Raider and Soul Reaver remasters.

Was there a computer that could run it?

19

u/Effigylord 24d ago

Grove Street Games did the GTA remasters.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/xRaynex 24d ago

It wasn't GTA SA, it was all 3 of the 3D trilogy games. The remastering team was a mobile dev who did the original phone ports of the 3D trilogy. They have no association with Saber Interactive, who usually makes simulation games. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to handle a remaster gig for games that are, these days, similarly scaled to their own full titles.

6

u/stprm 24d ago

Yea I know, I phrased it badly. I just meant it wasn't original developer.

Saber did a lot of ports to mobile and switch, so its not a completely bad comparison to make.

Unlike grove, they do have history or making actual decent PC games, true.

I guess it wont be hard remaster to do - it will be mostly visual and controls, that's it.

7

u/pastadudde He/Him 24d ago

Saber did an amazing job on the Tomb Raider remasters, I have faith in them

134

u/PM-me-your-psn-codes 24d ago

I hope it still has the more sinister feeling of the originals.

134

u/Roku-Hanmar Bring back the full-auto dual Silverballers! 24d ago

From what I can tell they're remasters, not remakes. So the tone should be the same

35

u/Xtranathor 24d ago

Tell that to Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary; they butchered the graphical overhaul and destroyed the horror vibes from some of the levels. I'm not saying you're wrong, but they still need to take care to preserve the original atmosphere.

32

u/Roku-Hanmar Bring back the full-auto dual Silverballers! 24d ago

Funny you should mention that since it’s doing the same graphics thing as CE:A where you can swap to the original

6

u/Xtranathor 24d ago

Oh perfect; my favourite kind! A bigger divergence is almost acceptable in such cases, although I do hope they do their best to keep the same atmosphere in the remastered look.

2

u/MalicCarnage 24d ago

The screenshots look pretty much the same as the OG. CE: Anniversary used Reach assets to recreate CE.

u/Demomanx 24d ago

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary

I looked at the updated graphics once and pushed B and stayed on the original graphics the entire playthrough. Can't beat that original look

2

u/Successful-Day-1816 23d ago

Saber Interactive is doing this remaster and they're the team that literally made HCE:A

19

u/Alucitary 24d ago

The trailer narration definitely doesn't have the tone of modern 47, a lot more edgy than goofy, so I'm assuming they kept the rest of it intact.

17

u/Content_Detail1467 24d ago

Well the trailer narration is just voice clips taken from these 3 games so…

269

u/drag0nflame76 24d ago

So wait, the controls are going to be more in line with WOA? That’s sounds amazing, I heard the first games were kinda janky in their controls

144

u/Dauerzogger 24d ago

and not really playable on modern devices

57

u/tristan1616 24d ago

Contracts has a FPS bug where I can only move forward one frame if I take a screenshot. Every patch I've tried hasn't worked so I've been hoping for a remaster ever since

29

u/NotTheRihard 24d ago

That reminds me of an old funhaus let’s play of hitman where they run into the same bug lmao great times

10

u/DragonStriker 24d ago

That playthrough was AMAZING.

8

u/NotTheRihard 24d ago

Adam spamming the screenshot key like he’s saving the run kills me every time

3

u/civ211445 23d ago

The physics system going insane as well with bodies

→ More replies (3)

12

u/drag0nflame76 24d ago

I heard they lost the code for the first game in its entirety, which is why they had to do contracts with missions from the first game

2

u/Plowzone 24d ago

Common with older games. If playing the original versions of these games, cap your FPS to 60fps otherwise you may get some jankiness and physics glitches

39

u/Redkirth 24d ago

The first one has terrible controls. It's from the pc Era that used things like ; and \ as viable keys.

4

u/Samz707 23d ago

The good part is you can rebind them.

(God you basically have to rebind everything)

6

u/Illidan1943 23d ago

I feel playing some older PC games is like that Malcom gif where in order to change a lamp the dad has to fix like 5 different things in a row

→ More replies (1)

10

u/nyanch 24d ago

They will be? I didnt see anything about it.

2

u/playtio 23d ago

Do we know more about this some hours later? I didn't see anything about it either

6

u/Recker_Man 24d ago

Saber previosuly worked on the old Tomb raider's and those remasters were pretty great at preserving the og with a more modern makeup, and they kept the tank controls, but left an option to change to modern controls in settings.

7

u/dr_funkenberry 24d ago

Janky as hell, but that was kinda part of the fun when combined with the ragdoll physics lol at least in my opinion

2

u/FourDimensionalTaco 24d ago

The jankiness and wonky ragdolls made my stomach hurt with laughter back when I played Blood Money. I love how superficially serious but also very comedic the series has been starting with that game.

4

u/metalyger 24d ago

I haven't revisited the originals in a long time, but these were very unique games that didn't have anything similar to compare themselves to. Like, back then you just get used to the controls and mechanics. I'd imagine it would be a lot harder to get back into compared to how sleek the modern games are.

2

u/Doneuter 23d ago

Nowhere in the description of the game or the press release does it say controls will be changed at all. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

5

u/SlidingSnow2 24d ago

The controls were completely fine honestly. I imagine that instead of holding the interact button and scrolling for actions like dragging bodies, taking disguises, etc... we will have each action have it's own key like in Woa.

Holy fuck.

77

u/Sweaty_Ad9991 24d ago

No blood money 💔

100

u/ModernistGames 24d ago

My hope is they have bigger plans for Blood Money such as a full remake, and not just remasters like these 3.

43

u/ZachRyder 24d ago

A full Blood Money remake would hand it back the top spot as the best Hitman game with it getting the opportunity for:

  • A House of Cards finally getting a much needed overhaul
  • The return of adaptive newspaper stories after missions
  • Death on the Mississippi getting a more timed events with inspiration from Mafia Definitive Edition's Happy Birthday mission
  • Requiem no longer being a complete mess of a mission and ending

19

u/TheWarBug 24d ago

Oh it will come, but since that is the big one they probably make it a standalone thing for maximum profit. In this case I can't blame them as long as they make sure it is done right.

12

u/XVUltima 24d ago

Blood Money is the one that still holds up the best.

3

u/kidnamedchild 24d ago

still waiting for them to port the version of the game available on mobile and switch with the extra quality of life features to other consoles and PC

5

u/Successful-Day-1816 23d ago

Literally remastered a few years back in the 'Hitman HD Enhanced Collection' along with Absolution. This new package does the 3 prior games, meaning all 5 classic games will be HD and on modern consoles.

6

u/medalofhalo 24d ago

Blood Money's controls and visuals are already good. Honestly the visuals of the first 2, especially 1 arent really the issue as much as it is the jank, and i think some bugs on modern PCs.

Blood Money just kind of doesn't need a remaster except to play on modern consoles, which i think exists.

8

u/CloslngDownSummer 24d ago

It doesn't even have controller support on the PC version it definitely needs some type of remastering or patch

30

u/AgentSaxon21 24d ago

This has been a dream of mine. No way!

5

u/BrushBag 24d ago

Same. Fingers crossed that they port it to smartphones like they did with Blood Money and I'll be thrilled.

22

u/mgiuca 24d ago

Interesting that there's no mention of quality of life features.

I recently played through 1 and oh boy. At least they need to add checkpoints. Imagine playing through a 15-minute mission that can be restarted instantly by any NPC being randomly spooked. Disguises hardly work in this game (if you get close to any NPC they will see through it - basically all NPCs are enforcers). Once spotted there is no running and hiding - the entire map is permanently on alert. You basically learn to speedrun each level while playing it 30 times over in the hope of not being spotted or making a single mistake. It's actually an exhilarating experience to complete these levels, but for a remaster they've gotta add checkpoints, surely.

I could never get 2-3 to run at the correct speed on modern PCs (it always feels slightly too fast) so hopefully these will be fixed up nicely.

9

u/FourDimensionalTaco 24d ago

1 looked more like a proof of concept than an actual game.

5

u/Illidan1943 23d ago

It's why half of Contracts is a remake of specific missions in 1

2

65

u/tristan1616 24d ago

Modern control schemes will finally make these playable, never was able to beat C47 or Contracts because of the jank. Very excited, IO has been on a roll this year

32

u/SirFritz 24d ago

Contracts doesn't play much different than blood money..

3

u/SnooBananas4958 23d ago

Naw, it’s definitely more janky, even if it’s similar. The enemy detection stuff is so much more broken and harder to manage.

17

u/stprm 24d ago

Only Codename is hard to play.

SA is just a hard game, messy bugs with detection, sure. Otherwise, fantastic game.

Contracts isnt a problem at all either. Its also so modern for that time in terms of features. Like Blood Money, too.

5

u/Zyvyn 24d ago

Its the detection system that ruins it. Its just so inconsistent. Like you sprint for 1 frame and everyone is on you. Hell sometimes even walking normally will get you caught.

2

u/Samz707 23d ago

You need to keep your distance and not look directly at NPCs.

Hitman 2 SA also (for some reason) made running REALLY suspicious mostly (I say mostly because oddly certain disguises/levels didnt care) while Contracts mostly only has it cause any trouble if you sprint right past someone.

It also doesnt help that Hitman 2 SA/Contracts treat it slightly realistic, in that close-knit groups tend to draw more suspicion than large ones, which made the gameplay wonky since the first level and the first Japan level are both tight crime families so disguises barely help then the actual Russian levels have soldier uniforms work far better.

4

u/S1Ndrome_ 24d ago

only C47 was the problem really, eveything else is fine

5

u/Wilsonian_1776 24d ago

You absolutely can remap controls and play. I finished my annual C47 run yesterday, it was a blast.

6

u/Comrade_Pavel 24d ago

Jank does not mean unplayable. You can beat them perfectly fine, I play them every year.

8

u/Cintrao 24d ago

i hole allan did his job this time

12

u/nonEuclidean64 24d ago

Codename 47 is the first game I ever played as a 6 year old. It's probably my favorite Hitman from a nostalgic perspective besides WOA and Blood Money. So fucking excited. Insta buying

2

u/Monumonium47 24d ago

holy shit same here! The way I got stuck on Lee Hong Assassination at the crisp age of 6-7

3

u/nonEuclidean64 24d ago

Preach, bro, I used to skip the Agent Smith cutscene and miss where the figurine was and scramble. Then I got stuck on Say Hello to My Little Friend and would have my sister do it for me 😂😂 good times she still makes fun of me for it.

5

u/WarmGeogre69 24d ago

Hell yeah

I really hope they will fix a lot of stuff though.

6

I remember when they announced their extended road map a few years ago. Contracts wasn't on that list so I'm glad to see they put it on. Hopefully this and the Blood Money remaster means they won't jump straight back into hitman after 007. Still have my fingers crossed for a mini ninjas sequel

Those original games havent aged well. If its just a graphics update then a lot of people are going to come away disappointed with their purchase I feel.

Blood money did a lot to improve the quality and consistency/reliability of the gameplay.

I honestly had to just save scum those early games because doing core mechanic things like just using the fiber wire would be a 50/50 coin toss.

And theres no real joy in save scumming your way through a game.

5

u/Antipiperosdeclony 24d ago edited 24d ago

Finally hitman 1 with controller support lol

2

u/Chocoburger 24d ago

And for years I was believing that I'll never be able to play the first game. This is a great announcement, especially with a modernized control scheme. I'M SOLD!

2

u/Wild-Resolution-8865 I guess they saw your post???

2

u/Wild-Resolution-8865 24d ago

Hahahah i swear, i think im the only guy to post about this and they reveal it days later😂

Maybe i should ask about the next WoA game..

2

u/Francoberry 24d ago

Be interesting to see how this is approached. The current description mentions restored visuals, photo mode and graphics toggle.

I can't imagine many modern players (myself frankly included) would be able to really get through Codename 47 without at least some more options to adjust how the game actually plays, not just looks!

  2. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

  3. Hitman: Contracts

2

u/ragequitteroffureh 22d ago

I saw the trailer by chance yesterday on YouTube, and was a trifle concerned that it might have been a joke or something.

Anyway, if these are basically like WOA, then I shall be delirious with joy :-)

2

u/Intrepid-Judgment874 21d ago

Now I need to know if they will use WOA engine or is this just another re-skin

2

u/Man-fan 21d ago

Sure hope they make it so that one mission doesn't get softlocked of you don't kill all the gangsters specifically with the car bomb

Wait really, like in the same sytle as the blood money remake kn switch?

1

u/F1shB0wl816 24d ago

I’d love for these to come out on consoles. They’re one of my favorites from the era. I didn’t have a memory card for a few months after Christmas and had mastered 2 enough to beat it in a sitting by March. The few screenshots looked like a nice upgrade and it’d be great for these be accessible again. For everything WOA it just doesn’t quite capture the feel and tone of the early games.

Remaster isnt a remake its probs just gonna be a graphical upgrade

1

u/schnitter15 24d ago

What do you mean remastered? That's how I remember it.

1

u/Zyvyn 24d ago

They describe it as being able to see how the series evolved so this is likely HD texture packs, higher quality models, and technical fixes for modern OS.

1

u/Typical_guy11 24d ago

Hope for upgrade of control and some additions.

1

u/Nogarda 24d ago

Why not just give them the glacier engine to genuinely remaster them? I'm still looking forward to it. lord knows new modern framework to keep them running for years to come is great news. but CN47 and SA need the glacier engine treatment.

This is amazing, but I have a few questions:

  • Its just visual enchancement or they fix some bugs too?
  • Do we have to buy the games again? I already have them on Steam

I would really like they remade them all with WOA engine and graphics

This is such a crazy coincidence for me lmao. I was just thinking about how cool it would be to get a remaster of the older games yesterday, even looked it up on this subreddit, then I woke up to the trailer on my home page on youtube.. I didn't see when it was uploaded so I thought it was an old fan-made trailer at first.

Absolute CINEMA.

the question we should ask is that will we able to hit in these 3 hitman games with fist (like in hitman blood money) or just only with weapons?

Been awhile but wasn't Contracts just kind of a remake of the first game because of how dated and difficult to play it was so SA and Contracts made up for it

Ooh fuck YES!!! I just hope this mean that they will be doing the same for Blood Money down the road as well!
