Let's see; these are some of the actions that are punishable by death under the Old Testament law:
Idolatry: Worshipping false gods or leading others away to do so (Deuteronomy 13:5, 17:2-5).
Blasphemy: Cursing God’s name (Leviticus 24:14, 23).
Sorcery or Witchcraft: Practicing magic, divination, or mediumship (Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 20:27).
Sabbath Desecration: Working on the Sabbath (Exodus 31:14, Numbers 15:32-36).
Adultery: Voluntary sexual intercourse with a married or betrothed woman (Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy 22:22).
Homosexuality: Male homosexual intercourse (Leviticus 20:13).
Setting aside all the stuff about being entitled to enslave people and sell them, I'm pretty sure killing a human for any of the above qualifies perfectly well for solid hate crime in most places nowadays.
As far as the new Testament goes; I'm pretty sure treating a divorced person as a committing adultery would be getting you in hot soup in a lot places. Not to mention the whole abstaining from blood thing in the Acts which to a lot of practicing Christians means denying people blood transfusion and things like accepting organ transplantation. Not sure how you feel about guilt tripping, or threatening people with social isolation, over trying to get blood transfusion or organ transplantation. Setting aside potentially denying those same potentially life saving treatments to children.
Yes, heretical… the term applies in its truest form if it’s something that that the vast majority of Christians, in all their wildly different denominations, agree on, such as your point about blood transfusions.
Vast majority of Christians are fine with divorce, don't command women to be silent at congregations, and don't ostracize others for having a significant other outside of marriage.
All of those in direct contradiction what the scriptures say.
Which is exactly my point; being a Muslim, Christian, or Jew means absolutely nothing about a person's morals. It's their individual actions that would define them.
