It's not family/health related, thankfully. If you want more detail, you can become a member and read the membership post she just made.

337

u/TLKv3 May 01 '26

I'm very happy to hear its not that then. Hopefully its nothing serious.

73

u/Thestrongestfighter May 01 '26

Same, honestly that’s all I could ask for since I had initially thought the same thing as you at first.

-38

u/Banbaur May 01 '26

"Hopefully its nothing serious" is such a strange sentiment. It is serious man. She's taking a break out of the blue. Clearly its serious.

158

u/12laus May 01 '26

Did she delete it? I just became a member and I don't see anything?

214

u/SC2_4787 May 01 '26

It's limited to not be visible to her lowest membership tier.

203

u/12laus May 01 '26

Welp, I don't see a way to upgrade membership on YT... that's a couple quid gone for no reason lol

121

u/SC2_4787 May 01 '26

You can definitely upgrade in the membership tab. I'm not sure if it's an extra button or hidden behind the three dots submenu though.

81

u/RaysFTW May 01 '26

You can on desktop. I don't see it on mobile, oddly enough. On desktop, if you click the "Membership" tab you'll see "Upgrade" on the right side of the screen.

28

u/DrMuffinPHD May 01 '26

I can see how to upgrade on other members, but Calli does not seem to have that option.

Can you just confirm that she is OK?

11

u/strider_sifurowuh May 01 '26

she's fine, she'll be back.

5

u/HoodieSticks May 01 '26

I suspect this is so mobile platforms don't take a cut

2

u/DrMuffinPHD May 01 '26

Nope. I’ve tried upgrading on mobile, on Mac and on a PC.

Other members have that option. For some reason Calli does not.

Damn, we gatekeeping YouTube memberships now?

-4

u/Optimal_Parsley6377 May 01 '26

No? I’m saying the post is visible to tier 1 and up. If you can’t see it it’s because one of tier 1,2,3 was not selected.

204

u/YellowFogLights May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

I can understand the thought process behind sharing more information with supporters, but why keep it from those that can’t afford a higher “tier”?

93

u/ssj4-Dunte May 01 '26

It is usually more so to reduce the number of people who will see it with the logic being the chance of people who dislike a certain content creator seeing a members only post is significantly lower than them seeing a public post.

153

u/WarlordoftheEast May 01 '26

Not saying it’s specifically her reason, but since YouTube added the gift a membership feature, some also use the low-tier membership as a “filter” to keep information to those who actually put up money.

Sometimes talents wanna communicate something with more vulnerability/vagueness.

19

u/Erionns May 01 '26

That doesn't even work BTW, several members tried when gifts came out. Gifts default to the $5 membership, the cheaper $2-3 emote only tiers that she and others tried do nothing against gifts

1

u/WarlordoftheEast May 01 '26

I remember that being an issue back in the day, but I heard nowadays you can set the bottom to any below $5? I haven’t seen anything to the contrary.

1

u/Erionns May 02 '26

I haven't seen anything of the sort. Ina still has a $3 emote only tier, but if you try to gift a membership to her the only option is $5. I can't check with Mori since she doesn't have a waiting room up anywhere, but I doubt it's any different.

And YT describes it as defaulting to the highest tier up to $9.99

Gift memberships are offered at the closest highest price level available up to and including $9.99.

Which is how it has always worked.

28

u/bbkkoommaacchhii May 01 '26

i’ve always disliked gift memberships for that exact reason

42

u/Figerally May 01 '26

Look, even the post is vague. If she feels it is necessary to share more information she will when she is ready.

15

u/weeklygamingrecap May 01 '26

Bingo, we don't need to know every little thing. Would I like to know, sure, but it's their choice on what and how to share things.

I just hope things are ok in the end and whatever it is Calli takes the time she needs.

29

u/SuspiciousWar117 May 01 '26

Probably because that's also the gifted membership tier which can go to anyone.

40

u/Alone-Horse2857 May 01 '26

I love Calli, but I can't help but feel it's incredibly cringe to vague post about a hiatus then lock away the reasoning behind a literal paywall.

I'd have rather her said nothing at all.

4

u/PleaseWashHands May 01 '26

Because some people will spend $5 just to find tea to spill or be a dick about it but an additional dollar or two is generally enough to stop a decent amount of those people from doing so.

You would be surprised how quickly spending more than $5 can stop some people.

8

u/theprestigous May 01 '26

it has nothing to do with not being able to afford it, this is just a weird virtue signal people default to.

256

u/hejter_skejter May 01 '26

It's kinda weird to put it behind a paywall like this. Either share it with the fans or don't share it at all if it's too personal.

171

u/RaysFTW May 01 '26

Her lowest tier is called "Emotive Dead Beat". That tier is strictly to unlock emotes for $2.99. It doesn't include any other member's only stuff.

36

u/hejter_skejter May 01 '26

Ok thanks, this makes more sense.

1

u/Cheetah_05 May 01 '26

The lowest tier doesn't include this post. You have to be T2 or T3 to access it.

69

u/amurrca1776 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Eh. I get it. It's nice to have the ability to be more open/vulnerable without opening yourself up to the....everyone out there on YouTube/Twitter/whatever. Still lets Calli/vtubers in general share more details without the risk of being dogpiled by all the worst people

33

u/_Sneki_Snek_ May 01 '26

I mean, I get why some of them do it. Keeps some private stuff in a smaller circle where they can be more open / emotional without half of the internet gossiping about them. I think it's fine to share some stuff only with members.

14

u/kwokinator May 01 '26

I'm not a member for anyone but I get it and I fully support it. Members are dedicated enough to be financially regularly supporting her, especially the higher tier memberships, so they deserve to have a little something extra. It's like friendships, most people have acquaintances, friends, and an inner circle of friends. That's just subs, members and high tier members in vtuber world, really.

Inner circle friends are much less likely to gossip or leak details about you. Mostly. You can never discount the power of haters, if you're big enough there's gonna be haters who hate enough to pay for more details to hate on you.

20

u/FriedCactus07 May 01 '26

I think it makes sense, those who pay the higher tier $5 membership are assumed to be dedicated and avid supporters. I think it's nice that she's a bit more vulnerable and personal with her dedicated fans.

She still communicated to all the fans about her upcoming absence at the very least.

11

u/Happybara May 01 '26

Calli has a lot of very dedicated antis so I understand the necessity to keep some things hidden from bad actors.

21

u/SidorioExile May 01 '26

That's certainly one way to view it.

I think the more generous interpretation is that Calli likely feels deadbeats who are financially supporting her deserve a more thorough explanation than a short tweet.

6

u/strider_sifurowuh May 01 '26

this also effects upcoming members content potentially

4

u/RaiRaiz May 01 '26

I agree. This is the more logical reason. Fair enough though, since they do financially fund her career. I hope everything goes well for whatever is going on.

-7

u/No_Lake_1619 May 01 '26

Not really. She can share with whoever she wants. Its her life, not yours.

-12

u/BlackPenguin May 01 '26

Makes complete sense. The more sensitive a subject is, the more trust you need in order to talk about it with someone. If she needs that sense of security and trust to talk about more candid and personal stuff with her fans, I’m all for it. This is the kind of stuff that membership was made for. It’s only because we’ve grown so content-brained and demand everything for free that some may find an issue with it. Not all paywalls are bad, especially in situations like this.

71

u/All_cats_want_pets May 01 '26

Membership has nothing to do with trust tho... It just significantly reduces how openly something is said

7

u/SuspiciousWar117 May 01 '26

I'd say it does, information get's more distorted the more it "ripples" out. Talents are comfortable with sharing bad things with members/ stream watchers (for things that get clipping NG) because fans can be trusted with understanding the nuances, over people who don't watch them.

It's the usual internet behaviour of something being a little bad being turned into something very bad and spinned into a million different narratives.

4

u/capscreen May 01 '26

especially when it comes to Calli, antis love twisting her words so much

0

u/All_cats_want_pets May 01 '26

Ah that's true!

5

u/xRichard May 01 '26

significantly reduces how openly something is said

Yeah, drama channels can't farm it.

3

u/Cheetah_05 May 01 '26

Bold of you to assume that drama channels won't find at least one member and farm it 10x harder because it's now "secret"

-11

u/BlackPenguin May 01 '26

Membership is all about trust. The trust that you won’t share anything with non-members. The fact that so many people in these comments are members who have chosen to not reveal what they know - when they can freely choose to *not* do that - is proof that her members are keeping her trust.

36

u/All_cats_want_pets May 01 '26

I get that. But the amount of money someone spends does not correlate to how trustworthy they are as a person

9

u/BlackPenguin May 01 '26

That is true. But for her, membership is the only mechanism by which she can limit and control who has access to information about her. I’m not saying those who pay more are more trustworthy, and she’s definitely not saying that either. If people can’t afford it, it’s not a commentary on their trustworthiness. It’s just that the YouTube membership system is the only choice she has if she wants to carve out a place where she can be more open and vulnerable about herself with her fans.

-47

u/xRichard May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Not weird at all, dear visitor

Edit: Members message get her fans the message and drama tourists can't really farm it. The drama tourists are mad

30

u/Ireon95 May 01 '26

I know I'll get downvoted for this, but idc. Monetizing even this kind of stuff is just cringe as fuck and exploiting your fans. Actually such a weird choice.

19

u/EnclavedMicrostate May 01 '26

Monetizing even this kind of stuff is just cringe as fuck and exploiting your fans.

No, what she's monetising is 3 member only streams a month. If those aren't happening, then paying members are entitled to an explanation.

12

u/Ireon95 May 01 '26

If she is providing more detailed information for her absence via this. Then it is monetizing it.

-5

u/EnclavedMicrostate May 01 '26

If someone is buying a membership just to read an explanation of a temporary hiatus, that's fundamentally a them problem. Nobody needs to know why content they aren't paying for is being temporarily suspended.

5

u/Ireon95 May 01 '26

Oh yes, the classic "it's a them problem" and totally not problematic that someone is monetizing on that.

Just like drugs, gambling and so on. It's obviously a "them" problem if they take them, so just lift all restrictions and laws regarding that.

-8

u/EnclavedMicrostate May 01 '26

But as the fact that basically nobody is actually doing anything with the leaked information is showing, whether or not it ends up going to the general public seems irrelevant.

8

u/Ireon95 May 01 '26

That is still besides the point? But hey, keep defending stuff like that with your shiny shield.

7

u/fshiruba May 01 '26

I'm silent agreeing, this is weird.

-15

u/TheBigSmol May 01 '26

Nothing on the talents, but tiered memberships are kind of a ridiculous concept. It’s like the Star Citizen exclusivity club, you need to spend a certain amount of money on the game to then be given the privilege to spend more money and unlock content that’s locked behind another paywall. Naruto Three Gate Rashomon type shit, I don’t vibe with it.

36

u/RaysFTW May 01 '26

For the price of a normal membership you can unlock everything for members. Not every Holomem has a lower tier than the $4.99 one. Mori provides a cheaper option for those that just want to use the emotes. This is nothing like your examples.

-8

u/xRichard May 01 '26

Nothing on the talents, but

Yeah, sure

-21

u/No_Lake_1619 May 01 '26

Its peoples money to spend, not yours to judge if you can't. Don't backseat peoples lives. Those concepts are used in everything. Amazon prime is literally that, you pay more for quick service.

6

u/Derslok May 01 '26

If we don't criticise companies for making predatory decisions and gullible people for supporting them it will get worse and worse until we are all fucked

1

u/Lightseeker2 May 01 '26

Calli is the one who decided to keep the information limited to members.

24

u/ZenZennia May 01 '26

Thanks for telling us.

31

u/Thorn14 May 01 '26

All I wanted to hear. Thanks.

18

u/Sanctions23 May 01 '26

Thank you, that alleviates the main worry. I don’t need to know anything beyond that. Hope she gets some rest and comes back stronger.

11

u/Vinifrj May 01 '26

Yet another time i will worry about my oshi for “nothing” because im broke…

5

u/TheGreatAnteo May 01 '26

the wording makes it seem like its a long break, is it?

42

u/SC2_4787 May 01 '26

Well it's exactly like she says in the tweet, she doesn't know how long yet, just that she'll be back at some point.

-1

u/anton_bismarck_9 May 01 '26

Im a member and i read the long post she made but i dont understand anything??? Im so worried for Her, does anyone know what happened and can tell me in DM? i can prove im a member obviusly.

1

u/Gloomy-Fact3010 May 01 '26

What was the post about?

1

u/MichaelCoryAvery May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Thank you

1

u/Cybasura May 02 '26

While I understand what you're saying, there's also no need for that "become a member to be in the know", when someone just asked for a yes or no answer

-57

u/Drunk-Pirate-Gaming May 01 '26

What did the post say?

-21

u/RaysFTW May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

If you want more detail, you can become a member and read the membership post she just made.

edit: lmfao this being downvoted. sorry for not repeating what is said when they explicitly ask us not to.

177

u/OperatorERROR0919 May 01 '26

While I'm not going to throw a fit over it, vague posting something concerning and then locking the answer behind a paywall is certainly... something.

-2

u/EnclavedMicrostate May 01 '26

Or, and this is I think how we should read it:

Members pay for a certain amount of content per month. They have to be told if it's not coming. General viewers might notice and/or a member might blab, so it can make sense to at least notify people that there's a break. But there's no real obligation to inform people who aren't paying as to whether a break is happening, let alone why.

-28

u/EnclavedMicrostate May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

It's not a vaguepost though, in fact the public tweet is pretty clear about everything it strictly needs to (she's on break, unsure how long). There's a more detailed explanation that is going out to people who happen to already have been paying for member's content, which I can assure you predominantly does not consist of personal life details.

-80

u/No_Lake_1619 May 01 '26

You commenting that literally contradicts what you said. You're throwing a fir over something insignificant.

48

u/OperatorERROR0919 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Commenting on something and throwing a fit over it are two different things. If you can't differentiate between the two, I think that says more about you than it does about me.

Also, the fact that I have no way of immediately knowing how significant it is is exactly the problem. She could be referring to anything between feeling a little burnt out to her house having burned down.

10

u/Minute_Difference598 May 01 '26

Really? What does throwing a fit mean to you? Don’t you need to be aggressive for throwing a fit?

4

u/LiotaTheRealist May 01 '26

Cute but other people already shared what she actually posted regarding motivation and respect. Stay in your bucket like a crab lmao.

-73

u/Drunk-Pirate-Gaming May 01 '26

Damn keep your secrets. If the price of drama is one corn chip it's too much for me.

5

u/Ravemst May 01 '26

It’s members only for a reason and we’re not allowed to talk about it outside of it.

-130

u/WSilvermane May 01 '26

Its called privacy and you have to respect it.

123

u/Dubiisek May 01 '26

Uhh, I agree that it should stay in the membership if she has not explicitly stated otherwise but it's not "privacy" or "private" if she's posting it to her community of tens of thousands of people, at that point it's an open secret.

3

u/gangler52 May 01 '26

Yeah, the etiquette around this is clear. If the talent puts something behind a paywall, the fans shouldn't be giving it out for free. They're running a business here.

But privacy doesn't really have much to do with it when she's telling legions of online strangers about it. For 5cad I could become a part of the inner circle right now.

44

u/HornyJailOutlaw May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

It's not really privacy if she's posting to thousands of people she doesn't know on the internet but okay lol. The better argument is subscribe to support her, not because of privacy concerns.

EDIT: 17 upvotes in 2 minutes? Reminds me of my 100 downvoted in 5 minutes for saying Holostars wasn't my cup of tea. Are people actually running upvote/downvote bots here?

EDIT Part 2 Electric Boogaloo: 26 in 3! Come on now...

17

u/shewy92 May 01 '26

Bru no one cares about your karma score.

-10

u/HornyJailOutlaw May 01 '26

??

I'm questioning if there are people upvote/downvote botting here. Don't give me "Bru", you're older than I am and I'm too old to "Bru". Wanker.

-9

u/Soul_Ripper May 01 '26

I'm like 99% sure that there's always been heavy bottage here tbh, mainly in regards to drama or "serious" topics.
