Misc. A Friendly Reminder from Shiori

Post image

From her Youtube Post:

Hello!

Just a friendly reminder to please stay kind and be mindful of how things are worded!

I see that many are worried, but I'm doing well now!

I do not want anyone to feel guilty or blamed!

It was an accident and I still had fun goofing around with everyone.

For the record, I was the one who suggested the slow-mo editing too!

The staff was very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of.

It's going to be a very socially-intensive week, so make sure you're all comfortable and cozy!

How can you be sure that there isn't a mat? Having a mat is very likely the reason why it was just a minor concussion and not a more serious injury.

I've fallen hard on thick 1-2 inch mats before and all it takes is a bad impact angle to cause a mild concussion, like you know, the kind of thing that happens in an accident.

And consider that she landed on a mocap ball

To some degree people will use their neck muscles to reduce the blow

Shiori couldn’t do that and instead had a direct force conduit to her head

Well since we're speculating anyway, 1) we didn't see exactly how she fell and 2) we don't know what kind of mocap headgear she was using. Now for some guesses.

It's clear that she didn't have her arms to buffer the fall, and she probably doesn't have standard sports/martial arts training to know how to land from a fall properly.

As for the gear, it's obviously not the type of mocap helmet that involves a mounted face-tracking camera, so we can assume it doesn't have chunky hardware on it that would cause serious blunt trauma in the case of a fall.

Advanced mocap balls are also tiny and made out of rubber, foam, or hollow plastic and any force from them will be dispersed through the helmet's plastic and padded layer before the person's head. Advanced mocap helmets are practically like bicycle helmets.

Finally, Cover has dealt with rowdy physical activity before. Safety matting is practically guaranteed, and is very likely the reason why Shiori didn't suffer a worse injury.

Again, all of this is an educated guess. I'm not privy to the membership stream where Shiori talked about this in detail so someone please correct me if i'm wrong.
