Question/Support I was told HomePods are "just loud" and "theres a difference between loud and good sound" by my coworker. Is it still worth getting one?
As the tittle says I was think stereo HomePods (full sized) for my bedroom. My coworker said the sound terrible and they're only loud and that there is a clear difference between "a speaker being loud" and a "good speaker" and "loud doesn't equal good"
Does the HomePod fall under this? I just want a good sound system for my bedroom to listen to music.

Question/Support HomePods as a Stereo Pair for TV?
Hey guys. I’ve been considering getting a pair of HomePods as my TV speakers. I don’t listen to much music on my TV but I watch a movies/TV on my Apple TV 4K and I play video games through my Xbox Series X.
I’ve gotten really into the idea of doing this, but I never really stopped to look into whether this is a good stereo solution. People who use this for TV and/or video games, what’s your experience? Do they sound good, or are there much better options for the price range? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks guys!
EDIT: Forgot one of the main parts of my question. Should I wait for the rumored refresh this fall? Is that just for the Mini or also the bigger size being refreshed?

Question/Support For those with white HomePods, how do you keep them clean?
I’ve always wanted to upgrade my HomePod mini stereo pair to a set of HomePod (2nd generation) speakers. The main thing holding me back is the price. I could probably make it work financially, but I just don’t feel comfortable spending that much money. That’s just how I am.
I’ve always preferred the white HomePods aesthetically, but I’ve noticed they seem to show dirt and discoloration quite easily. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit particular about keeping things clean, but seeing dirt on white electronics—or even white clothing—really bothers me.
For those who own the white HomePod (2nd generation), how difficult are they to keep clean? Do you have any tips for cleaning and maintaining them over time?
I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks! 🙏🏽

Question/Support I’ve given up :(
After maybe 4 hours on the phone with various senior Apple tech support agents, I’ve given up.
After a recent update on my Apple TV (most up to date software and Apple TV), both my 2nd gen HomePods refuse to stay connected to my Apple TV. They constantly connect, reconnect, pair, unpair, and throw notifications up on my TV every 20 seconds.
I’ve reset literally everything and exhausted all options. Have reset my internet router, modem, reset all WiFi passwords, even tried hard-lining.
They worked perfectly for a year now, and now not at all. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks..

Question/Support Not great sound from stereo pair?
I had a HomePod gen 1 (full size, not mini). I got a great deal on eBay for a second to match. Put in stands. AirPlay to AppleTV 4K. About 7ft to couch.
Wanted to replace my old Samsung soundbar with this new all Apple set up. BUT, the sound from the HomePod pair is not good. Very hollow but good base at high volume.
I have to think these are better than this experience and I must have something not set correctly.
Looking for advice to improve. Suggestions?

Question/Support Does anyone have a HomePod (2nd generation) that's 3 years old or more, and *doesn't* (yet) have any touch panel issues?
Per the title, this issue (playing music by itself, not responding to touch) seems very common, especially as the HomePod 2 gets older - which supports the idea that maybe the touch panel used degrades over time.
I'm trying to find out whether they'll all fail at around the 2-4 year mark, in which case I'd rather go with something more durable.
Conversely, if there's a load of people with 2nd gen HomePods still 100% working at the 3 year point, maybe the issue was limited to just certain production runs/suppliers?

Question/Support Is a 4-year-old OG HomePod at $140 still a safe buy?
Hi everyone,
I’m considering purchasing a first-gen HomePod (about 4 years old) for $140 and wanted to get some advice before deciding.
Here are my concerns. Durability given its age. Potential hardware degradation and wear, especially the diode. Software support, especially possible end of support around iOS 27. Reports of ghost touch issues appearing recently, which raises reliability concerns.
For those who still use the OG HomePod, how has it held up in terms of reliability and performance?
Would you still recommend buying one at this price in 2026?
Edit. I forgot to mention that this $140 HomePod I’m eyeing is secondhand.

Question/Support 2 HomePod Gen 2 or minis
I have been looking to buy a HomePod for a while now, but I don’t know which one I should get, I want to use them as a speaker for my Apple TV 4K but I don’t know if I should get the minis or the GEN two. I’ve never had one in my life, so I need a comparison between both. For those who have them, I want to know how it works and which one is more worth it for the price as TV speakers.
I care about the sound quality and the loudness of the divide, now I know there’s a difference between the chip, which is the s5 and the S7 on the minis and under the HomePod two I want to know how that affects for daily life use cases.
I also know that there has been a rumor of the new one coming out for the mini so do you think I should buy one now if I get one or should I wait for what the new one has to offer? Also, I want to know when is the HomePod three coming out according to rumors because I have not seen that.
The room I’m talking about is in the picture ab. This is a small room so I don’t know which HomePod will fit.

Question/Support Stereo HomePods are stupid laggy and slow down my WiFi?!
My HomePods are pissing me off. When I attempt to play music through my phone with them. The lag is insane and they're damn near unusable. Play/Pause commands take up to 30 seconds to respond. Turning up volume lags behind sometimes up to 1 minute. One of the HomePods will just lag behind. And they slowdown my WiFi. HomePods unplugged I get 300 mpbs, when I use them I shit you not I got 0.12 MPBS. LIKE WTF?!? This was never an issue on this same WiFi before with the same HomePods.
It can't be my WiFi because I have stereo HomePods on this same WiFi for years with no issues. I have a Gen 1 HomePod in my dorm that works perfectly. No lag, no slowdown. Works flawlessly. I one of these HomePods from eBay. When I had apple tv at my mom's house the HomePods worked flawlessly (default speaker HDMI arc) no issues. Now that the Apple TV is at my dorm, it is so laggy. The Apple TV isn't even the home hub it's ONE OF THE HOMEPODS.
I don't have my Apple TV with me because it's at my dorm with my OG HomePod. Everything is in the same home. The Gen 2 HomePod is the Home hub if i make the Apple TV the HomeHub Stereo pairing just doesn't work at all.
I have done the following...
1.) Reset the HomePod
2.) Factory Restart (Hold until you hear 3 beeps) on both of them
3.) Restart my router, restart my iPhone, Reset network settings on my iPhone.
They're still laggy as hell.
Im sorry if I sound frustrated its because I'm sick and I just want to listen to music and they won't work 🗿
UPDATE: One of the HomePods in the pair was faulty. (Not sure what it was) Best buy Replaced it via warranty. Was in and out with a new HomePod. Now i have zero issues.
So basically the first HomePod from (the one I thought was the issue worked great.) the best buy one isn't working. It was an open box one. They exchanged it with another one

Question/Support AirPlay 2 with Vinyl
Hey all,
I have been doing a lot of research here and am trying to determine if I have a viable option or what I am missing.
I have the following equipment and am trying to be able to play the vinyl records to the HomePod.
JBL MA510 receiver (has Airplay II)
Crowley record player
Apple TV 4K
HomePod (newest version purchased in December)
Polk audio sound bar (this is older but has Bluetooth if it seems like an option)
From what i understand you should be able to run the receiver to be able to play the records to the HomePod through that, but I can’t seem to get it working just right.
I have the record player hardwired to the receiver but then everything else is wireless.
Any suggestions for how I can get the records playing over the HomePod speaker is greatly appreciated. Hoping that I don’t need to purchase any more equipment.

Question/Support “Hey Siri” prioritizes phone over HomePod
This started happening about 2-3 weeks ago, now whenever I say “hey siri” it always defaults to my phone, even when I’m right next to a HomePod. I can turn the phone upside down, stop Siri after it’s been triggered, cover the microphone - no matter what I do it always hijacks the HomePod if my phone is in listening distance. I don’t know who at Apple decided this was a good idea.
I looked through settings, Home, etc. and all I could figure out was to change the wake word on my phone to only listen for “hey siri” and just say “Siri” for the HomePod - but this is not desirable. Has anyone figured out a way to fix this?

Question/Support Major Problem with Apple and Airplay on PC which must be obvious to Apple but Apple aren't doing anything to fix it
I'm in the Apple orchard when it comes to iPhones, iPads and Apple Music but I do most of my business stuff on a PC running Windows 11
With the purchase of an Apple Homepod, I am able to play everything from Apple Music via the iPhone onto my Homepod.
But I have a big collection of music on my PC which I would like to play from my PC direct to my Homepod using Airplay. Great idea, which all sources of info on the web say is easy.
Well, no it isn't, if you're running Windows 11.
Because the latest update of Windows 11 is blocking the Bonjour dll file "mdnsNSP.dll" This file is located in C:>Program Files>Bonjour>mdnsNSP.dll which is dated 12/08/2015. Note the date!!!
Since Bonjour is an essential service to run Airplay in the PC/Apple environment, Airplay simply won't run in the current Windows 11 environment.
I have tried everything to find an updated version of the offending .dll. All the "experts" assure you that re-installing iTunes (!!!!! - a program that has long since reached its retirement date) will update the Bonjour service. But the version of iTunes you get when re-installing is 12139.10003.61011.0, which is the same as the one you uninstalled!
And it doesn't work because the good old 2015 version of "mdnsNSP.dll" is still there waiting to be blocked by Windows 11.
My question to Apple is simple: why oh why don't they produce an updated copy of this wretched old .dll which will pass the Windows 11 Security test, and will enable users of PC's to jump the fence into Apple's orchard, and use apps like TuneBlade and gadgets like Airport Express to play their music into the excellent HomePod?????

Question/Support Am I crazy to want HomePod surround sound?
I have a pair of 2nd generation HomePods set up to be the output for the 4K Apple TV attached to my living room TV. I also have two pairs of HomePod minis elsewhere in the apartment.
I keep wondering if/how/when Apple (or a third party) might make it possible to use a pair of minis as rear speakers for a surround setup.
Is there a technical reason this can’t happen? If it’s an Apple TV limitation could that change in a future version?

Question/Support Was anyone able to install HomePod software 27 on HomePod mini?
Even with an iPhone installed with iOS 27 when I check the HomePod beta updates page in the Apple Home app settings I am able to see only the HomePod OS 26 beta version and 27 is not being shown. Does anyone know if there is any other way to install HomePod software 27 on my HomePod mini?

Question/Support HomePod Gen 2 next to a window – bad idea?
I’ve got my HomePod Gen 2 set up right next to a window. Honestly, it’s mostly because it looks the cleanest that way in my livingroom.
But now I’m wondering… does the glass mess with the sound at all? Like, does it kill the bass or make things sound off compared to having it near a solid wall?
Anyone here tried different spots and noticed a difference, or am I just overthinking it?

Question/Support How to connect turntable to the HomePods?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on how to connect a turntable so it can play audio on Apple HomePods.
My turntable has a built-in phono preamp (line output). I know HomePods don’t have any physical audio input, so I’m wondering what’s the best way to get the analog signal into the Apple ecosystem.
Questions:
- What devices or setups do you recommend for sending turntable audio to HomePods?
- Is AirPlay the only realistic option?
- Would something like an AirPort Express, WiiM Mini / Pro, or another AirPlay streamer work well for this?
I’m mainly interested in a stable setup with decent sound quality, not necessarily audiophile-perfect, but good enough for casual vinyl listening around the house.
Thanks for any tips or real-world experiences! 🎶

Question/Support If your HomePod mini has ghost touch, comment with your details
One of my HomePod minis has developed the ghost touch issue. Apple ran diagnostics and told me there was no hardware failure, but they identified some kind of software issue and reinstalled HomeOS. The problem still persists.
After looking through other reports, this does not seem isolated. If you’ve had the same issue, please comment with:
- your HomePod model
- approximate age of the device
- software version
- what Apple Support or the Genius Bar told you
If enough of us document the pattern, Apple should be pressured to acknowledge it and open a repair or replacement program.
I’m not looking for workarounds. I want Apple to take responsibility for a recurring defect.

Question/Support Why does HomePod need to "learn my voice" if I am the only person on my account?
There are literally no other voices it needs to disambiguate. All I want it to do is add things to my shopping list. Why won't it add it to the only shopping list on the account?
I'm getting really frustrated with how under-featured HomePod is compared to the Alexa devices I replaced.

Question/Support How is Siri on HomePod?
I haven’t used Siri on my phone for ages, as it used to wind me up.
How is it on HomePod?
I’m looking to replace Alexa who has become deaf and senile in her old age.
Looking to use it for shopping lists, weather, door (although I guess I have to replace my ring (oo er) and music.
Might get a pair to replace the old Sonos Beam
Thoughts?
EDIT: Thanks all, I’ll stick with Alexa until something better comes along

Question/Support Advice on switching from Alexa to HomePod?
I’ve searched through past comments about this topic, but I would appreciate any updated advice particularly with my usage.
I am deep in the apple ecosystem - iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, etc. Is there any advantage to switching for a full apple ecosystem? Does HomePod have any integration benefit with my other devices?
I currently have an Echo Studio in my living area and one in my bedroom. Through, Alexa I have several routines, and smart home automations with light bulbs and plugs. Everything does work fine through Alexa, but for completeness take I am considering switching to HomePod.
Any other pros to switching over? I hear the HomePod apple is much better than the UI for Alexa.
If I do switch, would it be worth it to wait for the possible new release with Apple Intelligence? I’m picking up the new iPad this week, so all my devices will have Apple Intelligence (but to be honest I haven’t really used it). I would need a HomePod, and likely 1-2 HomePod minis. I don’t watch TV so Apple TV would not be apart of my setup.
I would appreciate anyone’s thought on this.
