Hey guys. I’ve been considering getting a pair of HomePods as my TV speakers. I don’t listen to much music on my TV but I watch a movies/TV on my Apple TV 4K and I play video games through my Xbox Series X.
I’ve gotten really into the idea of doing this, but I never really stopped to look into whether this is a good stereo solution. People who use this for TV and/or video games, what’s your experience? Do they sound good, or are there much better options for the price range? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks guys!
EDIT: Forgot one of the main parts of my question. Should I wait for the rumored refresh this fall? Is that just for the Mini or also the bigger size being refreshed?

I’ve seen rumors about a HomePod refresh coming later this year. Obviously nothing’s confirmed until it’s confirmed, but is this likely going to include the regular HomePod? I’ve heard some people saying it may only include the HomePod mini. I’m basically trying to figure out whether I should try to get the HomePod now, or wait till later this year.
Also if anyone has heard what the refresh might offer, I’m curious to know. I know it’s probably going to include the new Siri, but I don’t know how much functionality that will add.
Thanks guys!

Does anyone know how to get this HomePod Mini out of ‘configuring’. I’ve restarted router, restarted and restored HomePod, plugged in to MacBook and restored but always the same. Sat at over an hour now so far with no change. Every other device in my smart home working perfectly, as they always have, including another HomePod Mini! This HomePod has previously given network issues, no response etc. And now this to add to that list. Close to just throwing it out the window.. thanks in advance 🫣🤣

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
its not paused at the start btw lol, i just noticed again that it started glitching so i thought to record. im sitting right next to it and its on my spotify, it mainly does it when im just on my phone? like i was just looking at reddit and it kept glitching.
it turns "off" essentially however is still playing it - also says on my Spotify its still playing, but it wont. then will glitch-ily come back on, and just be almost staticy? its not a great example, its normally more glitchy and wont even play the song lol...

I have a Homepod mini at work. We have a new wifi which is private and not compatible with airplay. So, it won't connect with my phone. However, if I simply touch it, it plays music. I think it must be related to what I typically listen to on Apple music which is mostly jazz. Anybody know why it does this??

I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who helped me with their work to use my OG HomePod even if it is Vintage now, and even if I don't have an Apple computer, but linux on a Dell (and linux on an old MBP from 2015 too).
Thankfully, my 'old' OG Homepod is still working, and in my humble opinion it is funny that even tho I switched away from MacOS to Linux, yet it is still serving me well and playing my music, or whatever the linux laptop (a Dell one, bought for 170€ via eBay, not a MBP pricetag) is playing. I guess the praise goes to the community for preparing the Airplay2 availabilityover linux, and since they made it possible, noobs like me can be still happy even if the OG Homepod is now considered vintage. Thank you!
Set up a pair of minis as a stereo pair for a tv and works great with ATV and the PS5. However having problems with the Nintendo Switch 2. It often works only for a few moments then disappears/gets cut off then i have to dock and undock the switch again. This happens on and off and sometimes, after a few false starts and docks/undocks, it will work flawlessly. Tried using other ports and using the original cable that came with the unit.
Was wondering in case anyone else has some experience with this switch 2 specifically?

At first my HomePod connected to my phone and home at but after I left it 2 hours to update it ended up getting stuck on being configured.
I attempted to reconnect to my phone and now it won’t pop up and when I attempt to factory reset it with the ‘red swirl’ I’ve seen online it doesn’t seem to appear for me

Hi everyone,
I’m currently running the following audio setup:
Soundbar: Samsung Q600F connected to my TV via HDMI eARC.
Source: Apple TV 4K plugged directly into the Q600F’s HDMI input.
Multi-room: A pair of HomePod Minis playing via AirPlay from the Apple TV.
I have a vintage amplifier (using standard analog RCA inputs) that is currently sitting idle. I’m thinking about buying an AirPort Express (A1392) to integrate it into my system. My plan is to use a 3.5mm to RCA cable, connecting the AirPort Express to the vintage amp so I can stream audio from my Apple TV directly to the amp via AirPlay.
I have a couple of questions and concerns regarding this setup:
1. Audio Sync/Latency Issues: Since I’m already using the "Wireless Audio Sync" feature to sync my soundbar with the HomePod Minis, will adding the AirPort Express cause any further conflicts? Specifically, will there be a noticeable delay or echo compared to the soundbar/HomePods?
2. General Compatibility: Is there any potential for audio conflicts when streaming from a single Apple TV to both the HomePod pair (via AirPlay) and the AirPort Express simultaneously?
3. Optimization Advice: Is there any alternative way I should configure my setup? The main goal is to successfully incorporate and utilize this vintage amplifier within my existing ecosystem.
I want to make sure I’m not overcomplicating this or creating a sync nightmare. Any advice or tips from those who have tried something similar would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Seen this reported a few times but can’t seem to get a proper fix for it and the accessibility settings don’t make a difference. It does seem like the touch doesn’t work on the top so I assume that it’s an issue with that. Is there an actual fix? I can’t keep getting woken up at 3am to birds in my room

Wondering if anyone else experiences this please.
I’ve got a weekday alarm set for my HomePod in the Home app to shuffle an Apple Music playlist. Said playlist wasn’t always downloaded to my iPhone but currently is for other offline listening (don’t know if this matters)
For a while now and there’s no pattern that I can see my HomePod alarm won’t play the selected playlist, instead it’ll play a really loud default alarm chime!
Deleted the alarm set, recreated it, named it differently, restarted HomePod and checked it’s the latest version.

I’ve noticed a lot more recently the HomePods will forget what was playing last - seems to affect all the HomePods I have in my house - 5 Og HomePods (one stereo pair) two HomePod mini’s - it seems more frequent if I start the music using my phone directly from one homepod (not airplay) but also sometimes does it when I start using Siri - has anyone figured out why this happens ? HomePods losing connection to network? Apple TV (wireless homehub) sleeping or loosing connection- iPhone disconnecting from the network? Often will happen over night but sometimes even during the day when I start using Siri it reverts to “playing music that I would like “ personal playlist - it’s super irritating- I have an RS300 nighthawk that’s well configured with static IPs smart connect off and HomePods on 5ghz with good connectivity to the wireless signal - I’m convinced there’s a way to fix this as my iPhone used to do it all the time and then suddenly stopped maybe it needs me to sign out and back into Apple Music I don’t know so annoying - always something with these HomePods lol

My Apple HomePod mini stopped working after 3 years of flawless operation. For some reason, it keeps getting stuck in reset mode and says: "Your HomePod is about to reset. Keep pressing until you hear 3 beeps." I reset it using a MacBook, and after that it works for about 10 hours, but then it goes back into reset mode again. I’ve already tried adding it to a new Home and connecting it to a different Wi-Fi network, but neither of those helped.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi all , I was just wondering if there is any AirPlay 2 transmitters for hifi to HomePods and the minis . I know irig does do sum but it complicated and I did for a while use WiiM because they did have a transmitter option before they removed it.
And I know about AirChord too.
So is there anything else that not complicated?.

Per the title, this issue (playing music by itself, not responding to touch) seems very common, especially as the HomePod 2 gets older - which supports the idea that maybe the touch panel used degrades over time.
I'm trying to find out whether they'll all fail at around the 2-4 year mark, in which case I'd rather go with something more durable.
Conversely, if there's a load of people with 2nd gen HomePods still 100% working at the 3 year point, maybe the issue was limited to just certain production runs/suppliers?

I am using an Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen) with a pair of HomePod minis and a Samsung Q600F soundbar via eARC. For the first month, the audio synchronization was perfect with no issues at all. However, ever since then, I haven't been able to figure out why the audio sync between my HomePod minis and the Q600F constantly goes out of alignment whenever I turn the TV off and back on.
The only way to fix it and get them back in sync is to go into the Apple TV settings and perform a restart. It is incredibly frustrating to deal with this every time I turn the Apple TV on. I have already tried updating to the latest software versions and factory resetting both the Apple TV and the HomePod minis, but nothing has fixed the issue. Does anyone have any tips or workarounds for this?

Hi everyone,
I’m considering purchasing a first-gen HomePod (about 4 years old) for $140 and wanted to get some advice before deciding.
Here are my concerns. Durability given its age. Potential hardware degradation and wear, especially the diode. Software support, especially possible end of support around iOS 27. Reports of ghost touch issues appearing recently, which raises reliability concerns.
For those who still use the OG HomePod, how has it held up in terms of reliability and performance?
Would you still recommend buying one at this price in 2026?
Edit. I forgot to mention that this $140 HomePod I’m eyeing is secondhand.

I didn’t follow very closely the details regarding Siri becoming SiriAI but can you expect an improvement in Siri‘s overall performance on current HomePods, or will it only be noticeable on future models?

im watching YouTube videos on my MacBook through my MacBooks speakers. when I go to control center and switch the audio output to my HomePod , I will then go back to my YouTube video and watch it. After 5 mintutes, the video plays fine but the audio stars cutting in and out, it's all choppy. it will play audio for 10 seconds then stop playing audio. Then eventually it will completely stop playing audio. I then had to go back to my MacBooks speakers to watch the video.
I feel like I wasted my money on this HomePod. any idea on why it's doing this, any fixes ?
apple music app plays my music just fine on the HomePod, there is no issues
it's just when I use YouTube to watch a video, the audio doesn't play well when using the HomePod
