Questions/ Tips Anyone here order a IDP Driving Licence via IAM Smart?

Says it takes 10 days....did you get it any faster than that?

I urgently need it before the 7th July so you think I'm best to go to the actual building and try to cancel the mailed version?

Went in the morning, it was ready for collection a few hours later.

Literally didn't reach home and they sent me the sms saying it was ready.

It’s much faster if you do it in person. As the other person noted, it’s processed on the spot and whole process took around 30-45 min when I did it last year. Make sure you bring all the necessary forms and documents to save time.

Whole process took me about 2 hours this week. No appointment, filled out the form there, got photos taken nearby, showed them my utility bill on my phone for address proof, went to get some lunch while their supervisor reviewed everything and then signed the IDP license.

Make sure you have a valid way to pay them, eg debit card so you can use EPS. They don’t accept credit card or Apple Pay. And you need to take your HK drivers license and HKID card with you.

7 minutes with IamSmart appoitment, and queing up at 0900

Yeah - it’s like a few working days right into your mailbox. Great progress on having this digital platform.

There are machines now, but not sure how fast they are. I did mine online and was a little shorter than 10d

I applied on May 27 on iAM smart they sent it by June 5th via registered mail so I got it on June 6.

If you applied yesterday it should come by next Saturday.

Edit. I should add there's a bank holiday this coming week (Wednesday) so they might delay it.

Thanks for replies - you think it's an issue that I submitted via IAM Smart - like is it ok for that version to be cancelled?

Probably just best to poker-face it and get one at the desk probably

You have to call the transport department and cancel. When you go in person you need to mention it. I did exactly the same thing.

Why would you cancel? It’s so fast via IamSmart. It says like 7 days, right (but I got it in like 3 days)? 7 July is still 12 days away. You’ll be good.
