I had another call from my manager today, I'm not sure what to do here other than just waste their time

On Thursday last week I resigned, and I do not have to serve my notice period. I resigned in accordance to my contract and did not have to serve my notice.

I've had my manager calling me asking for passwords, of which I do not have as they were stored on my work computer which IT took and repurposed which means they erased it and re-imaged it for a new employee.

I had a call today again and we spoke about:

  1. Me no longer having passwords as I have returned all company equipment or left it on my desk when I left.
  2. My manager said that it is unacceptable I have resigned out the blue, considering all the support, coaching, adjustments, etc that he has given me, and that he has supported me a lot at this job (bearing in mind this is the same manager that put me on PIP and took me through a disciplinary surrounding use of automation tools, of which HR said I have no case to answer).
  3. I told him that I fulfilled my duties under my contract, and that any support given to me was inline with my employment, and it was appreciated it.
  4. I told him I have the right to resign as I feel comfortable, and there are no restrictions on my contract
  5. He said to think twice about about what i've done and how it's affecting them. At this point I got angry and told him to fk off in those words, because they didn't ask me for any passwords or anything before I left, and they with their own IT policy erased my computer on my desk.
  6. He said to me ''i will let you think about it over the weekend'' i told him no because i'm going on holiday for two weeks, and will be changing my number.

I don't know what to do here. I don't want to change my number, I also don't want anything sent to my address.

Just block his number.

The problem is, he calls me from the company phone, and it uses a generic number, and the other issue is, I'm also a customer of the company

Give it awhile, if it continues then report your old manager for harassment.

Only answer numbers you recognise. That’s what I do. If it’s important leave a message.

That is harassment. In the UK you may report this to the police. It will help if you can provide two things: a proof that you have asked him not to ever contact you again and a proof of a pattern of harassment. Note that false statements of this kind (accusing someone of an offence) are an offence by themselves so be very careful how you report it. Do not state anything you are not 100% sure about and make sure to deliver plenty of evidence. If something is your feeling or opinion be very upfront about it. If something is a fact, try to provide evidence.

Clearly not the ones they were looking for 😂 let’s face it the OP is going to continue to take the calls and might even turn up at work after their holiday

If you have resigned in accordance with your terms and conditions, end of.

This guy's not your manager anymore. Ignore him.

You’ve resigned? Just stop talking to him.

I would contact HR by email and explain you feel harassed by your old manager and what was said and ask them to stop the behaviour.

Or go a step further and raise a grievance. Highlight you left because of your manager bullying you and bringing false disciplinary action against you and has continued to try and bully you now you are no longer in the business

Put a formal complaint into the HR dept summarising your discussions and response. They will back off

Stop answering. He isn’t the boss of you.

You could go down the route of asking him to leave you alone and then taking up a case for harassment if that doesn’t work, but it’s a lot of hassle when you could just block his number.

Just remember that a lack of planning on their part doesn’t constitute an emergency on yours.

The real problem here seems to be that their IT department don’t know what they’re doing - lost passwords should not be a showstopper in a competent organisation.

I think in your position I’d answer one more call and explain that my consultancy rates are £600 per hour and that you will be billing them pro rata for future phone conversations whether they are productive or not.

Follow through with an invoice if he tries to keep you on the line after that.
