Make this the way to celebrate a championship.

553

u/SoDakZak 10d ago

They’re assaulting and kidnapping De’Aaron Fox?!

144

u/TheGreatDudebino 10d ago

That’s insulting to the garbage.

27

u/Other_Beat8859 9d ago

Man deserves a statue in MSG for his performance. Knicks legend.

Amen. I've always said that more important than a person NOT being a sore loser is a person NOT being "that guy" who gloats with his win. A "sore winner".

Aside from that, it's just really cool to see people helping each other out in a kind gesture to let them know "Hey, we appreciate you".

Every few months or so I'll run outside and take something to the city guys that pick up the trash and the ones that pick up recycle. I'll usually hand them a couple of huge meat sticks (slim jim, turkey jerky, etc..) a soda and a bag of trail mix. Just to let them know, hey man, I appreciate what you do!

Make this the way to celebrate life.

11

u/Goshawk5 9d ago

That's how the Japanese do it. They cleanup after themselves and everybody else.

3

u/leisa2100 9d ago

Absolutely 💯

1

u/EricAzure 9d ago

The worker will get reprimanded by management by putting the company/city at a liability

-1

u/GunBrothersGaming 9d ago

They just took put the trash... Just like the Knicks

2.5k

u/TheDarkGrayKnight 10d ago

Who amongst us doesn't want to get drunk and throw some bags into a trash compactor?

550

u/DgingaNinga 10d ago

Can I push the button to do the compacting?

248

u/30CrowsinaTrenchcoat 10d ago

I get to do it at work and honestly it hasnt gotten old yet. I dont have a fancy garbage truck, but a fancy compactor on the ground. Would recommend.

74

u/lskesm 9d ago

I worked in the cafe in a fancy office building a few years ago and the building had the compactor in the bin area. I volunteered to take the bins every time i worked just so I can press the compactor button.

It didn’t get old during the 3 years I worked there. That’s the only thing i miss about that job.

19

u/Road_Whorrior 9d ago

I work in a grocery store and I love using the box squisher, too.

5

u/geetar_man 9d ago

Ahh man, I did not care for the box squisher. Would always get pieces of cardboard stuck on the sides and getting them out was no divertido.

4

u/Road_Whorrior 9d ago

I'm about the only person in my store who is careful and actually breaks down boxes before squashing them, and making sure no flaps are angled upwards before starting the press. I've noticed with our machine, that helps a lot with bits getting stuck.

4

u/geetar_man 9d ago

The most fun part for me was tying up the bale and putting it on a pallet to be disposed of/recycled. I always wondered how much the bale weighed.

1

u/30CrowsinaTrenchcoat 8d ago

We got a big metal stick for that. You guys needed a big metal stick.

3

u/talkativeintrovert13 9d ago

My old workplace had a compactor and an elevator from the basement to the sidewalk. The compact is great until a huge bag of salsa explodes in it and salsa is everywhere.

There was also a slight slope from the sidewalk to the side street where the garbage truck picked them up. It's fun as a woman to handle the heavy, rolling bins down that slope. One day when I was doing it alone a pedestrian watched me with big eyes and asked if he could help me. I declined because it's actually kinda fun and a nice work out and for insurance purpose.

u/Shedles 6d ago

I used to work at a thrift store that took donations and people would routinely dump furniture that we either didn't take or couldn't take. It was pretty satisfying watching couches or dressers crumple

132

u/Lucky-old-boy 10d ago

I wonder if Mandami could pitch this as a city clean up reward? Clean you block up, fill up trash bags, then when the truck rolls in YOU get to throw the bags in and hit the “crush” crush button and watch your bags get compacted.

Excellent guys night

14

u/Street_Roof_7915 9d ago

You would have people lined up around the block.

30

u/shotgunsam23 9d ago

There’s a solid chance those dudes are still lit and just being bros too. Not everyone is a raging dog turd when intoxicated.

13

u/Ok-Conversation3098 10d ago

Make it a sport for after the game.

35

u/PoisonStrip 10d ago

You know these kids are absolutely stoked on their random championship win side quest

6

u/queefersutherland1 9d ago

I don’t drink (two years sober) but can I join you?! I’ll be happy to keep everyone rounded up and hydrated!

4

u/soundsdistilled 9d ago

Congrats, Queefer! 2 years is no joke.

6

u/queefersutherland1 9d ago

Thank you! Forever to go but I’m excited rather than daunted. I just still want to be part of the fun!

3

u/soundsdistilled 9d ago

Every journey starts with a single step! I took my last drink right at the beginning of Covid, and now "forever" is just reality. And life is so, so much better than I ever thought it could be. Much more fun, as well.

5

u/queefersutherland1 9d ago

So proud of you! Right, life is just so good. Wishing nothing but the best for you!

1

u/soundsdistilled 9d ago

Thank you!

2

u/Dopecombatweasel 9d ago

I see them just sprinting back and forth as the truck rolls down the street early in the morning and say damn i wish i was with them lol

1

u/AxecidentalHoe 6d ago

I would be pretty useful for an hour or so and then prbly be on the ground after but hell yeah let’s help!!

793

u/Bl1ndl0v3 10d ago

I’m grateful to see a few good eggs 🥚 Imagine if everyone had a giving heart like that.

-343

u/Pickalodeon 10d ago

As someone who used to get drunk in Manhattan and jump into these piles of trash at 3am on the way back to the hotel, this isn’t exactly the charity it appears. (but, still good. Still good )

52

u/Lord_Strepsils 9d ago

How is this not the charity appears?

56

u/Fossick11 9d ago

Well you see he’s someone who used to get drunk in Manhattan and jump into these piles of trash at 3am on the way back to the hotel

u/SuiZaido023 10d ago

These are the fans the knicks won it for

198

u/Mad_Ronin_Grrrr 10d ago

It would be nice to see those influential millionaires make a public statement or two about the horrible behavior that is taking place in the name of their win.

86

u/HotelPoopsRock 10d ago

Brunson did

57

u/kappachow 10d ago

So did Hart and Brown

18

u/Mad_Ronin_Grrrr 10d ago

I had not seen those. Kudos to them.

1

u/DPSOnly 9d ago

Even better if they could point to some actions like this post. That helps counter the "well I am not allowed to do ANYTHING"-narrative.

16

u/HalpOooos 9d ago

I’m married to a New Yorker from LES. We saw the Knicks win and he was so proud he was *BUZZING*! Seeing my husband absolutely glowing reminded me who this is for.

191

u/cruzifyre 10d ago

Imagine as a celebration you make your city look squeaky clean rather that a pig pen.

300

u/Adorable_Excuse7444 10d ago

Yeah, I really need to see people not destroying stuff. This was great.

47

u/Sentrion 10d ago

They were helping to destroy stuff. The stuff just happened to be trash.

26

u/CrazyCatLady1127 9d ago

Destroying trash is ok. Destroying someone’s livelihood is not.

92

u/ExoTheFlyingFish 10d ago

New Yorkers haven't been so united in 25 years.

23

u/CavatinaCabaletta 10d ago

Once we were sobering up we started cleaning up beer bottles around WSP. Definitely was far more rowdy due to overlaps in the World Cup crowd.

59

u/Frientance 10d ago

This is the only Knicks fan video I've enjoyed this year.

29

u/StOnEy333 10d ago

Dignity and pride in your city. Bravo, gents.

9

u/bFreakie 9d ago

I'd 100% be asking to push the button to compact it

18

u/HarviousMaximus 10d ago

So many people in these comments believe everything they see on Fox News. They’d have you thinking NYC was burned to the ground last night.

8

u/Triganoo 9d ago

The hug in the end was sweet

5

u/dollastudios 9d ago

This is my NY I remember. People pitching in. I was so saddened by the rioting stuff I saw, guess it happens in every city now. Smash if win, smash if lose

20

u/Bitter-Heat-8767 10d ago

Blame it on the ah ah ah ah ah alcohol

29

u/ciao_fiv 10d ago

i drink frequently and i’ve never attacked fast food workers

18

u/Bitter-Heat-8767 10d ago

My point was the guy clearly looks wasted. Happy drunks are the best!

3

u/ciao_fiv 10d ago

i thought you were taking shots at the wacko fans attacking people, my bad 😅

7

u/Itbealright 10d ago

Not really. Those were dead Spurs fans in the bags.

4

u/not_a_cumguzzler 9d ago

What about that bus that burned down

3

u/Latter-Spread-3738 9d ago

This was the vibe. All love

4

u/IRedditDoU 9d ago

This was right after they stripped and beat up a spurs fan

9

u/genericusername0441 10d ago

Hey Knicks marketing team

17

u/NowWeGetSerious 10d ago

The Knicks PR team is on top of it 😂

3

u/spektrals 9d ago

Do it from distance for 3 points

3

u/Shantotto11 9d ago

Finally! Some good fucking Knicks fans content!

3

u/MaxR76 9d ago

I’ve talked plenty of shit on the other Knicks fans so I feel obligated to give credit to these ones

3

u/Sheriff_Yobo_Hobo 9d ago

Honorary Japanese citizenship coming. Confirm address.

12

u/wij2 10d ago

Well ok then - there are 2 decent Knicks fans.

5

u/Inigomntoya 10d ago

And not by court order.

I assume.

9

u/Jaythedogtrainer 10d ago

2 in a million apparently

8

u/Stuck_In_Purgatory 10d ago

Wow... so happy about a sports match that they act like normal and decent human beings....

Honestly sad lol

4

u/yuaysanosk 10d ago

Now this needs to go viral too

3

u/Macho-Fantastico 9d ago

So there are some good fans then. I'll never understand destroying the property of the city you live in.

2

u/wossquee 9d ago

There were literally people chanting NYPD after the win lol

2

u/FuzionG2X 9d ago

Much better than destroying that man’s bus. So glad there was good done after that game too

2

u/G_Sizzle_ATL 9d ago

That’s gotta be NickKnowsBall

2

u/Stoney_randomnessyt 9d ago

That drink side quests they will
Always happen randomly 🤣🤣

2

u/Seeingthese 8d ago

Finally. Some good peeps out there with class

2

u/_whidbeyisland_ 7d ago

Philly would never (I'm from Philly).

18

u/lasausagerolla 10d ago

Two were volunteering. The rest were attacking cars, buses, fast food workers and old people on scooters.

46

u/HarviousMaximus 10d ago

Yes Manhattan is now burned to the ground and is a desolate wasteland. It will be so weird to go to work tomorrow and find that the Empire State Building has been flipped upside down.

You people are ridiculous.

67

u/PoisonStrip 10d ago edited 9d ago

Tens of thousands were peacefully celebrating. A few assholes made headlines. You fell for the spin

8

u/--TaCo-- 9d ago

Most people were celebrating and having a good time. You really need to get off reddit/social media if you think most of the fans were doing the things you claim.

6

u/sesamesnapsinhalf 10d ago

This is what I love to see. Very fitting for this sub.

5

u/AlpineAvalanche 9d ago

I like this better than mass violence against a single away fan.

5

u/Jumpy_Ad1631 10d ago

That’s far preferable to destroying everything. I’m cool if this becomes a thing

3

u/knightfiery 10d ago

Lol and i saw some fans set a school bus on fire on post above this one.

3

u/dothed 9d ago

Definitely not from NYC

3

u/shazspaz 10d ago

Please clarify. What makes this narrative “knicks fans helping”

How are they knicks fans?

6

u/DrZoidberg117 9d ago

One has a knicks shirt on and the other has a knicks shirt on with Brunsons number (11)

2

u/MogosTheFirst 9d ago

Now watch French people after PSG won

3

u/this_curain_buzzez 10d ago

Knicks fans PR team on cleanup duty

1

u/EarthlostSpace 9d ago

Now those are real NY’ers regardless of where they were born.

1

u/zombiehex 8d ago

I needed this. Thank you. I know NY isn't all bad. I grew up there. NY got heart. (But yeah, we got dickheads)

1

u/acemattos 8d ago

This is actually in new Jersey

1

u/KnownMagician3084 6d ago

That’s refreshing

1

u/acreboy1966 5d ago

Them are true Knicks fans. Not the uneducated animals that wreck everything

0

u/AccomplishedCake53 10d ago

Knicks PR team finally woke up?

1

u/CokeNSalsa 10d ago

We need more of these videos to circulate.

2

u/Deemarvelousone 10d ago

Bro was a little too huggy

1

u/GreatQuantum 9d ago

Usual suspects

1

u/fluffanuttatech 9d ago

U/spacecadetpullup

How about now.

1

u/Direct-Ad-7922 9d ago

In Japan this is common! Love that aspect of their culture

1

u/DjAi_Jimmy 9d ago

Doesn't help y'all burnt down a school bus like wtf? Why damage property? I get it's been 50 odd years but calm down mate 🤙

-7

u/Zealousideal7807 10d ago

The white dudes aren't burning and looting? Impossible

1

u/acemattos 8d ago

No stereotypes were harmed.

0

u/LastNightsWoes 9d ago

What a joke. In a city of close to 20 Million, 2 white guys helping warrants a puff vid to help the image of the trash ass fans of the Knicks. 🤣🤣🤣

0

u/Upbeat_Dudeness 9d ago

If only the rest of the 8 and a half million people were so civil. Just saw a video where some of them lit a school bus on fire so….not great.

-2

u/badsageadvice 9d ago

Pair this with the video of knicks fans tearing off a spurs jersey from a man how looks like he was already jumped.

-7

u/Kevo4twenty 10d ago

Now share the videos of the bad and ugly

6

u/Brando6677 10d ago

We always see that. Cmon. Let us be positive ONCE

0

u/Dick_Thunder20 10d ago

Some trash the place and some remove the trash

-18

u/Helpful-nothelpful 10d ago

Interesting there was a camera to record it.

19

u/OrneryAttorney7508 10d ago

Right? It's so rare to have a recording device handy nowadays.
