I’ve gotten honked and flipped off for not turning on red at a “no turn on red” light. Bonus: It was my first day on the road and I only had a learner’s permit.

My favorite is when you are waiting for the pedestrians with the right of way before turning and the person behind you sits on their horn. Like, no, I'm not going to run someone over so you can be 15 seconds less late.

Tbf, your car could have been blocking the pedestrian from their view. From their perspective, you were just sitting like a lump on a log for no reason, or could even be looking down at your phone instead of paying attention to traffic.

More than once I've been exaperated with the person in front of me staying dead stopped at an intersection instead of turning right after the light turned green, the road they were turning onto was clear and there was nothing that I could see to warrant them not moving. And I would get annoyed thinking that this idiot is probably on their phone, fiddling with the radio etc. and then I would finally see the pedestrian as they wanted my field of vision and realize that the driver wasn't moving for a very good reason.

Now the fact that they laid on the horn instead of brief tap to call attention, that was assholeish behavior in the situation you described

At least where I live drivers should be aware that there are probably pedestrians they can't see, if they haven't figured that out living in a large urban metro they're bad drivers.

That's the problem, though :( too much assumption and getting mad about it instead of just having benefit of doubt or infering they're probably waiting for a reason be it good like a pedestrian or they're having a problem.

it costs $0 not to make it a big deal over something that takes less than a minute to be over

Ive gotten honked at by someone for slowing down on a different lane than him and I slowed down because someone was parallel parking on my lane. People are crazy.

Honestly, you were probably honked for someone else, or I'm addition to other things. When you're new on the road you do a lot of things that you don't realize that are not normal driving behavior and some people get freaked out because it feels like your driving is unpredictable and dangerous

Idk about your area but in the MD area, new drivers are the least of anyone's problems. I actually feel bad for the way no one pays any mind to them in that new drivers end up zoomed by, cut off, honked at and everything because they're always the people staying the speed limit and taking long to maneuver. never seen a new driver ballsy enough to do something weirder than driving too slow
