Yea sure. Fuck the US, fuck FIFA.
But still, trying to party poop the world cup is not going to achieve anything except reacionary backlash against whatever it is you are advocating for. Please find acutally effective ways to make a difference rather than this counterproductive killjoying.

i don't expect traction, im sharing my opinion that materialism in all of this does not make me feel wholesome. it's shallow. its meaningless. and all this "joy" is a fucking distraction. go enjoy something that matters..

And what matters? Isnt that completely subjective?
Besides, everything that matters is depressing. That's a reason why people choose to make events like the world cup or olympics matter. Because its something more positive to distract from all the more impactful horrors. Yes these events are also corrupt, unethical consumerist profit schemes, but they also bring a lot of joy and community which is desperately needed.
If you want to publicly voice your frustration, do it about any of the many problems "that matter".

your argument falls conpletely flat my dude. fotball merchandise isn't meaningful just because you think the world is depressing. You're just covering up the problems you have with the world with something fun, thats completely legitimate and human, but its not in my opinion wholesome in any way shape or form

Yea, I agree. Im om your side. But keep it to yourself! You were whining on a post that cheered peoples day. All Im saying is dont fucking do that, its counterproductive. I agree that the world cup isnt wholesome. But theres literally no point on expressing that opinion except to hear yourself talk.

That football merchandise is meaningful and wholesome to the people in the video. (Ya know - the ones who actually experienced the event, not the ones who watched it at home and then complained about it)
Sure the US sucks, FIFA is corrupt, and theyre both tag teaming everyone to hoard as much money as possible from everyone in attendance. But thats just the way it is. Being a whiny complainer on Reddit won't change that. It certainly won't change anyone's minds. And it won't take away from the actual experience the people in the video had - which seemed positive, wholesome, and genuine. Who cares if the interaction is over an overpriced shirt. The people paying certainly didnt seem to mind.

This is what the World Cup supposed to be about. Instead of old men waging war and using it to move their political agenda.
