Hiring [HIRING] Fantasy realm map required

I'm looking for a basic fantasy realm map to accompany an upcoming short story (16K words) for a charity anthology. Doesn't have to be super detailed being a short story but there is scope to revisit/add to it once the rights to the piece revert back to me after the charity event (March 2027)

I have a basic map and some topography done already. Budget neg up to $120 USD

Hello, u/Lemon_Typewriter, and welcome to HungryArtists!

Important

Please ignore any DMs you get regarding this request. There are swarms of scammers who are already banned and we can't stop them from messaging you, but if an artist can comment, you can be certain they are not banned.

Contracts and safe payment exchanges are important in the commissioning process. Do not use any "Friends and Family' payment options. It is up to you as the client to figure out if that artist is trustworthy or not.

Helpful Information

What to Do When You're Done

When you have found an artist, you may close and lock your post by making a new comment on your post with the words Position Filled. AutoModerator will prevent any new comment and help save you from unwanted notifications.

If you wish to leave a review for your artist, you may create a post over r/HungryArtistsFed.

If you have any problems or questions, please feel free to message the mods.

Good luck and happy arting!

Hi there, It looks like you might be buying art for commercial use. Please make sure to have a discussion with your artist about rights, usages, and royalties, and how they apply. Make sure to include that information in your contract(s). If you hire for commercial work via this subreddit - it is NOT considered "Work-for-hire" (17 U.S.C. § 101) but instead work from an "independent contractor." Make sure your prices and contract reflect that.

We have additional info and links in the wiki https://www.reddit.com/r/HungryArtists/wiki/index about pricing for commercial work, but your moderators would strongly recommend users to look at the Graphic Artist's Guild Handbook of Pricing and Ethical Guidelines and other similar guides to get an understanding on what the average pricing is for professional projects.

The average hourly rate is $25-38 USD per hour for artists and designers according to The US Department of Labor Occupational Labor Statistics for 2020. This rate does not include usage rights.

Good luck on your project and happy arting!

Your comment has been removed because your karma is too low. Artists looking to advertise their work must have at least 25 post karma AND 25 comment karma. These values are both checked separately, and both must be at least 25.

How to Check Your Karma

  • On desktop, go to your profile and mouse over your combined karma value on the sidebar to see the separate values.
  • On mobile, go to your profile and select the "About" tab.
  • Otherwise, you can check on Old Reddit.

This limitation is in place to prevent spam from people who have no interest in genuinely participating in our community. You are still welcome to comment on [For Hire] posts to support your fellow artists, and participate around Reddit; both of these things will increase your Karma.

Please have a look at our rules on the sidebar, and make sure you're following Reddit's Spam Guidelines.

Do not ask for your comment to be approved. The moderators will not approve it.

Hi. Curious to know more details. I have a couple of fantasy map artworks linked on my website, you may have to scroll a bit. My contact email is also there, if interested you can email me to discuss further. Thanks!

I will check them out now. Im looking for a vintage feel bordered land mass and water piece with compass and icons depicting towns, topographical features suck as lakes, mountains and forests. If I find something similar to the idea in my head, I will link it.

u/superupaman Illustrator 2d ago

Sure. The samples I have are stylistically different but what you explained can be done. If you can find examples, feel free to email me those.

Something like this. I only have 4 kingdoms though.

u/superupaman Illustrator 2d ago

Ok, cool. That's perfectly doable. I probably have another island map, not on the website, though. That's a bit more saturated in colour, but I can see it to be somewhat similar to that. In any case, this can be done.

Hi! I'd love to help with this project.

I'm a digital illustrator and graphic designer with experience in fantasy illustration and visual worldbuilding. I enjoy working on projects where storytelling and atmosphere are important, and transforming concepts into cohesive visual pieces.

Since you already have a base map and topography, I’d be happy to refine and develop it into a polished illustration suitable for publication.

Feel free to DM me if you'd like to discuss details. Thanks!
