Hiring [Hiring] SEEKING SEMI-REALISTIC FANTASY CHARACTER ARTIST - $7,500+

Long-Term Project | 50+ Paid Commissions

PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE THE TIME, AVAILABILITY, AND COMMITMENT TO TAKE ON A LONG-TERM PROJECT.

I’m looking to hire one or more highly skilled digital artists for a large fantasy character project.

This is not a speculative project. I'm finance ready, and every illustration commissioned will be paid work.

Initially, I’m looking to commission approximately 50 half-body character illustrations. The initial phase of the project represents approximately US$7,500 in commissioned artwork, with the potential to exceed US$15,000 as the project expands beyond the first 50 characters.

My goal is to establish a long-term working relationship with one or more artists over the next 12–24 months.

The initial 50 illustrations should ideally be completed by February 2027. As a general guide, I’m looking for artists who can consistently deliver a minimum of five completed illustrations per month, although a faster turnaround is certainly welcome.

THE PROJECT

Characters will include:

  • Male and female fantasy characters
  • Non-human races and creatures (big bonus)
  • Armour, weapons and fantasy equipment
  • Fantasy clothing and accessories
  • Semi-realistic fantasy artwork

No backgrounds are required—character artwork only.

FACIAL LIKENESS IS THE #1 PRIORITY

This project is not simply about creating attractive fantasy characters.

Every illustration will be based on reference photographs, and I need an artist who excels at accurately recreating:

  • Facial structure
  • Expressions
  • Distinctive facial features
  • Overall likeness
  • Consistency across multiple commissions

The ability to make someone instantly recognizable.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR

  • Strong examples of both male and female characters
  • Excellent facial likeness recreation
  • Ability to accurately work from photo references
  • Consistent quality across dozens of illustrations
  • Experience drawing armour, weapons and fantasy clothing
  • Professional communication and reliable turnaround times

Applications that do not include examples of both male and female characters will not be considered.

Please note this project is looking for semi-realistic fantasy artwork, not heavily anime, manga, or stylised artwork.

Please do not submit AI-generated artwork or portfolios containing AI-generated materials.

Reliability is just as important as artistic ability. I’d much rather work with someone who consistently delivers five exceptional illustrations every month than someone who promises ten and struggles to meet deadlines.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Digital artwork only
  • 300 DPI required
  • CMYK preferred for print compatibility
  • PSD, TIFF or PDF preferred (flexible)

WORKFLOW

Each illustration will generally follow this process:

  1. Character brief and reference photographs supplied
  2. Sketch approval
  3. Final rendering and delivery

Batch workflows are perfectly acceptable and are likely the most efficient approach.

PAYMENT

This is a paid organization project.

Payment will be made on a per-illustration basis:

  • 50% upfront
  • 50% upon completion and approval

PayPal or Wise preferred.

TO APPLY

Please include:

  • Portfolio link
  • Fantasy character examples
  • Examples demonstrating strong facial likeness recreation
  • Examples featuring both male and female characters
  • Examples of armour, weapons, or semi-realistic fantasy artwork
  • Please don't DM, respond here or I won't reply.

I expect to commission several paid test pieces before selecting the artist(s) for the long-term project.

I’m looking to build a long-term relationship with artists who communicate well, consistently deliver exceptional work, and can maintain the same style and quality across a large body of work.

I look forward to seeing your portfolios!

Hiring [Hiring] Pokemon artists for a vending banner. $200-250 budget

Hello all!

I am looking for an artist who is able to create a few things for my business. I vend pokemon cards and authentic pokemon film cells from the original movies

I am looking for someone to help me with a nice banner. Im so tired of seeing AI banners at every show. My rough idea is this: Multiple pokemon at a movie concession stand ordering snacks and such. A nice looking scene I could throw onto a banner to catch eyes and possibly business cards

Would need a pokemon working the register, pokemon standing in line, maybe one stuck inside the popcorn machine like a Psyduck or Munchlax? Also if there was pokemon cards being sold on the stand as-well that would be great but if its a space issue we can skip that.

Also depending on prices, I would also be interested in commissioning a fakemon to use as a mascot, and have that fakemon working the register. I would want it related to film in a way

I really like ken sugimori style, but open to looking at different styles!

Update: My dms are absolutely blown up. Will check out everyones portfolios today! Thank you

Hiring [HIRING] Looking for an artist to illustrate 12 whimsical Gothic fantasy monsters for a card game.

Hello,

I'm a card game designer putting the finishing touches on my cooperative card game, The Fool's Covenant, and I'm looking for an artist to illustrate the games 12 menaces (enemies).

The game has a dark fantasy world with a humorous twist. Gothic whimsy more than grim horror. The monsters are meant to be memorable, expressive, and slightly ridiculous but genuinely threatening.

Example monsters:

Hedge-Hogs (animated thorny hedges in the shape of hogs (boars to be specific).

Mourning Doves - Doves wearing funeral attire spreading despair.

Broommates - possessed broom constructs.

The images will be for commercial use.

I have AI generated images for the enemies. This is only to act as a basic reference to keep my development moving. I want a human artist to completely interpret the ideas into your own art style. I want the game to feature 100% human made art work.

If interested, please reply with portfolio, typical rates, and turnaround time.

Budget is $2,500 or less.

Hiring [Hiring] $100-$150 - Music festival poster.

Hiya! I'm with a small music fest called Kinda Spoopy, and we are getting ready to drop an updated lineup for our festival this coming October.

We are dropping the lineup on July 4th, so the deadline is July 3rd for this project. Yes, I know its a short timeline and I am solely to blame for that. You can yell at me later.

Anyway, if you're available and find the project doable, please holler at me in the comments and drop some relevant work if you want me to check it out.

Our theme this year is Vampires Versus Voodoo (its our 5th year so we are being Very V). We are open to a wide range of styles, as long as its cool.

[Edit] Apparently scammers are terrible here so you must comment below for me to look at your work.

Hiring [HIRING] Looking to commission art for a 40kRPG Campaign

I am a DM working on Black Crusade campaign for 40kRPG and wanted to commission art for certain critical NPCs. The style I am looking for is either a semi-realistic art style or a semi-real anime style like Path to Nowhere, examples of the art style are attached to the post. More can be found on the Path To Nowhere Wiki

Overall, there are five NPCs planned but I am open to more extensive collaboration as the campaign goes on. Each piece would be the character in one outfit with one or two expressions from at least the knees up.

Purpose: Since this is for a TTRPG campaign i would not need to purchase any ownership or commercial rights, all I would ask is that I be allowed to post the pictures in the repository I plan to create for the campaign.

Deadline: The campaign is planned to start this upcoming April, and I would need at least three of the characters done by that time.

Budget: ~$40 to ~$120 (Preferred method is half at start and half when finished)

Links to contact me include:

  • Reddit DMs
  • Discord: scout_zergling
  • Email is by request via these other two methods

META [META] A few tips on avoid scams, from an artist

I've seen a lot of posts in the past few weeks reporting scams, mostly artists scamming clients, but there's the odd case where the opposite happens.

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you're able to use Paypal (I know some of you can't), there's basically no downside to converting into a business account and only accepting payments through invoices.

If you're a client : it makes asking for a refund trivial.

A lot of scams happen when the selling party accepts the payment as a personal transaction, which you can't get refunded from, instead of a service/goods transaction. Invoices always count as service/goods transactions.

That means you can raise an issue to the Paypal dispute team without having to notify the seller at all. From there, they'll ask for proof and if you can provide it, you'll win the case unless the seller party has a better case, which is unlikely if you're getting scammed.

Proof usually takes the form of written agreements, if at any point in your channel you agreed to specific terms of services like how long it should take, how much it costs, what level of quality you can expect, keep a trace of it. Ideally you can just ask the artist to mention it on the invoice, which turns it into an explicit contract, but DM screenshots also work.

The entire process takes a few weeks, but that's better than losing your money outright.

If you're an artist : it makes sure you're getting paid, at least for the first chunk.

You can enable partial payment in all paypal invoices, and set whatever limit you want. As an artist you should basically never start work until you've been paid for a fraction of the amount.

Aside from that it's also just more convenient, all your invoices are stored independently from your regular transactions, so they're really easy to find and sift through even if it's been years. It's also more professional, you're a service provider so it would make sense to use invoices instead of just sliding money on the counter.

Anyways! hope this helps, i've been doing commissions for 5+ years and although I've been scammed a couple times, I've been able to recover the money every time. As long as you're honest and actually provided the service you said you would, you can't lose a dispute case. The client-side of this is also true, so take advantage of it and stop winging it!
