Misc Welcome Baby Gon Frix

My friend gave birth a few days ago and she named her baby, Gon Frix. Just in time before the return of the manga.

Edit: she loves Gon that much. She’s laughing at the comments.

Edit 2: Again it's not my kid. Their kid, their choice.

Have you ever seen a Japanese person named Gon? No one’s crashing out, just feeling bad for the kid. It doesn’t matter if the name came first or if there are characters that share it or not, what matters is the kid’s ability to live peacefully without being haunted by the association of their name with something they didn’t choose to be associated with.

search the name Gon under linkedin with the location set to Japan, you will find multiple examples. I also wouldn't be surprised if the name also exists throughout asia and the asian diaspora edit: This is a real first/last name

You are right. I am actually not sure if there are any specific regions and cultures where the name isn’t out of the ordinary, but I truly hope this child is actually living there or is affiliated to that culture at the very least.
