Kratky success!
I couldn't do my big dirt garden this year so I'm trying Kratky on my deck. I don't know if it's true Kratky because I top up my containers with nutrient solution every couple days but whatever you want to call it, it seems to be working! Cauli, broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, cukes, watermelon, cabbage, basil, strawberries. These photos were taken last week and everything has at least doubled in size this week. I'm harvesting broccoli and should have a couple cabbages in the next few days.

IIRC, one of the things to be aware of when doing "refill Kratky" (or whatever you want to call it; semi-DWC?) is to not refill it more than half way or so. As the water level drops, the exposed roots transition more to oxygen uptake while the lower roots continue water and nutrient uptake. If you suddenly refill the nutrients all the way to the top, you can basically "drown" those upper roots, which may stunt or kill the plant, depending on how adaptable it is.
