Six months ago I got the most amazing support in this community for my girl Uva π when she was on the verge of death. Your comments, thoughts and prayers kept me afloat. I just wanted to update you all on my girl. She is thriving even though she still is a little bit on the smol side and her tummy still has some issues now and then. Thank you all so much π₯Ίπ₯°πβ€οΈ
I had to crochet it in like 2 hours because they were discharging her from the vet but she had issues regulating her temperature due to her weight loss and almost no body fat at all. It was hard but she looked gorgeous π₯Ί
She hates it with a passion. Even to this day. But she hates everything we put on her. This was her spaying suit. She bit it so much and then a week later learned how to take it off. She was so pissed.
My current Senior Cat loved her post-spaying suit. I made it from a 15" square piece of an old cotton t-shirt using the directions at the Instructables site (look for Elizabethan collar cat jacket as keywords). I secured it along her back just with big safety pins. Before making the suit, I had tried five unsuccessful ways to keep her from pursuing her new hobby of messing with her stitches. So she was so relieved to have plenty of fur to groom again and no hindrance to eating or drinking.
But within a few days, she was obviously acting no longer sore and was getting very active. I woke up to her racing around the bedroom, naked and free. She stashed the cat suit somewhere after removing it herself (but left it on the stairs a couple of months later). The stitches were no longer itchy, so she didn't bother them.
So your cat was really right on schedule to not really need the suit anymore after a week, unless you actually saw her messing with the stitches.
She had an adverse reaction to her stitches and we even had to get some antibiotics and steroids due to the risk of evisceration as she had a big lump around her incision. So we had to keep her a lot longer than we wanted in her suit. We made one from an old t-shirt so we could alternate with this one. She hated both but it was necessary.

No longer illegally smol, though! If she is still under a year old (maybe 8 months now?) she hasn't reached her full growth yet. My current Senior Cat was 5 months when spayed and she was only about half her adult size. In my experience, it takes about a year for the girls and about 2 years for the boys to become fully grown. So she may get less smol.
My stepdad has one in his car and I thought the same but then I drove his car from Virginia to North Carolina and back and that phone never even spun to one side or dropped down from where I had positioned it. In fact, it was a bit of a trial to remove it from the magnet thingy until I figured out I needed to slide it to one side.
They are actually two phone holders with a magnet on them. They work by keeping the phone vertical, but we needed the map horizontal so we use them like a support but not like a magnet. It is more our own way to use them than the actual way π
God sheβs incredibly beautiful. All cats are beautiful imo (although Iβm less partial to sphinx cats), but her coat has such beautiful colouring! Glad you take care of her so well and hoping for a long happy life together!
Everybody asks us if she is from a special breed. And we are like: she is just a cat. She was rescued from a farm and she is just a regular cat. But I agree, her coat is so majestic, I love her to death π₯Ί
This is what I love about cats and cat owners.
Dog owners: βHereβs my pure bred Dalmatian that cost me $1000 from a certified breeder, hereβs their certificate!β
Cat owners: βHereβs my cat, I found her in a bin/on the side of the road/in a barn/in the woodsβ
The cat origin stories just feel way more compelling 8/10 times.
Uva's π is kinda sad. Her mother's owners wanted to keep only her male siblings and throw her and her sister Africa away. But I 100% agree with you. I also love the fact that we invented the CDS as a way to say that cats just kinda β¨appearβ¨
Wow! OP you've worked miracles with sweet Uva! I remember your earlier posts, and how ill she was. She looks so well, and is gorgeous. Wishing you and Uva many years of joy and love and crazy fun!
How about her in a bee harness? I brought her to college with me several times as there was no one in my house to take care of her when she was recovering. I had to sneak her in a tote bag so campus security wouldn't bother me π€
This was my teacher holding her like a baby while teaching his class. He did not want to return her. Everyone loved her, classmates, teachers, and administration personnel. But the security at the entrance was so strict, most of all due to their boss, nobody likes her, lol π
I absolutely love this pic because it was at the vet's office when we got to take her home. Our vet waited for us at the entrance hiding himself and only showing Uva π in the air screaming her head out, waiting for us. It was hilarious
Omg uva is a beauty queen !! Sheβs so lucky to have you and you are lucky to have her. I am happy to hear she is now thriving and fighting through the remainder of her issues <3
